The Eagles have been oddly content with positions that look really shaky this offseason. LB, WR3, RG... I think safety is less so, but CJGJ has injury issues and Blankenship is still not proven as a plus player to me yet.

Curious if this is them just not liking what's out there or if they're trying to save as much money as possible to roll over to next year.

They're almost definitely standing pat at LB. If those guys stay healthy, I actually think 2 startable guys will emerge from White, Baun, Dean, Trotter.

RG, there's no one available. Teams don't trade good OL, especially not now. FA cupboard is bare.

WR, that move is coming and I still think it's Noah Brown.

Oh, both I agree they wouldn't sink that much money into it. But if they wanted Simmons they could have took him instead.

Agree.  I think age with Simmons is a factor. I get why the Falcons paid for him, but I wouldn't want to do a multi year deal.  Especially with Brown in the background

Another preseason of no starters playing.  Really don’t know why they can’t get at least a series or two

Eagles must be saving money to help alleviate next year's cap or upgrade somewhere this year. 8M is a lot for an aging safety and they've gotten burned the last few years gambling on older players.

Looks like Howie is keeping Pickett and instead flipping Hurts to the Vikings

Why is Mr. Mustard wearing a Blow Jays cap??

Not saying Simmons wouldn’t immediately start here, but Howie loaded talent into the secondary. There are still glaring needs in this team, but that’s now a lesser one

They have quite a few players they can use there right now. As good as him? No, but they are already paying them. I think ultimately Coop can get time there as well.

No one’s available at RG now, but Connor Williams was out there for months. Substantially better than Becton. Other guys were out there back in earlier weeks of free agency. I think we are way underselling how much of a gamble is at that position. He was a stiff at tackle who is playing a new position for the first time. The Eagles usually do not going into seasons with an OL position that up to chance.

LB I also think is a gamble. Devin White and Baun have a higher ceiling than last year’s guys, but I think the floor is just as low. If Devin White plays like he has for the last couple seasons, the LBs are going to absolutely blow again. They went cheap there, let’s just be real. They went cheap higher upside gambles, but I don’t think anyone would be stunned if we are sitting here in November going "Man…. After the season they had at LB a year ago, this is the group they decided to fix the position with???”

It's currently pouring onto an un-tarped field, so we may not even see many Defensive starters out there

I'm hoping to get a series or two out of the offensive starters tonight. We already know Pickett is just going to dink and dunk, so lets see some McKee with the 2s.

Hoping someone can emerge for WR3 and at least one LB stands out.

I head some defensive starters will play.

As for the offense I don't understand what benefit 1-2 series will have.  The potential risk of suffering an injury in a meaningless game far outweighs any potential benefit.  Especially when the offense has been humming with Hurts all summer.  Doesn't sound like they are at a point where they need the extra work in order to get ready.

They could simply just be thinking that they’ll be fine there once Sydney Brown returns, probably around Halloween. I’m not sure that that’s an unreasonable viewpoint.

Reminds me of when the Eagles played the Jets last season.

What battles could potentially be won tonight? CB5/6? TE2?

Rain should be out of the area by game time

Calcaterra didn't practice this week.  Probably won't play tonight.

For another safety, not paying that again

Too rich.

Is this sarcasm? It's a one year deal and he's one of the best safeties in the league.

He also plays without appropriate knee bend, which forces him upright where he gets walled off. And while he’s strong, he doesn’t really disengage well. His athleticism will jump out at you from time to time, so you can see why he was so attractive as a prospect, but as a player he’s kinda flawed.

I wanted Kyle Hamilton with that pick. My concerns were somewhat alleviated when Jerry Jones revealed their list of top prospects and he was on it. (The Cowboys have tended to draft well in the first round over the years, so I respect their scouting evaluations in general.)

He came to the Eagles with relatively little experience.  He was underutilized as a rookie and had a injury.  DT is typically a position that takes time to develop.  He has flashed enough that I think he's going to be an above average starter.
