Last year he played about 18 less snaps than Dean and pretty much all of them after they sacked Desai and the defense really fell apart, he had seven less combined tackles than Dean. I think he'd probably be worth another shot with Fangio in a rotational role, whether he could live with that is another question entirely.

What you have demonstrated is that raw stats don't tell the whole story.  1 - Comparing him to Dean is a bad comparison.  Dean was bad.  Being as good, or even slightly better than Dean is worthless.  2 - Where were these tackles happening?   Down field, or near the LOS?    3 - pass coverage matters too?   Can Leonard cover anyone?

Did you watch him play?  He was slow... very slow.   That's why he's still available.  The entire NFL saw him play and said, "nah, we'll try someone else."

Stats from the box score generally don't tell much of the story at all, especially when it comes to tackles.   If they did, then Alex Singleton might have been the greatest LB in Eagles' history.   (Hint:  He's not.).

Watch the games, and check what your eyes tell you.

He didn't really test.  He was above average in Bench, about same in shuttle, and above average in 3 cone.  All the jumping and 40 times were not tested.  Not saying he would have crushed those just that he didn't really test.

I think we're beyond RAS scores once they're on a roster. He's not an elite athlete but he's a good enough athlete to play the position.

Is that directed at Hurts?

At Sirianni and Kellen Moore telling them they better run the f'ing ball.

I think some people had the book written on Leonard before he arrived, nobody on the defense from December onward looked worth a toot on a tin whistle, given our options at LB are another guy you don't think is good enough, a guy you think is too small and a guy who got bombed out of Tampa. We're destined to be fishing in the lower end of the talent pool anyway, at least there's a chance Fangio can turn him around to be serviceable.

Leonard was bad in coverage, which is why he is unsigned right now. Linebackers who can play the run are literally a dime a dozen.

I didn't think Dean played poorly.  Dean got hurt. My sense is that he was pretty instinctual but struggled some in coverage.

I was showing RAS score because everyone keeps saying he tested poorly.  He didn't test poorly.  He just didn't test

What are you gonna do about it, a-hole

So here is where I went wrong with my prediction:  We had Ellie with us.

Which means I had to get up to get lemonade.  Then chicken nuggies.  Then cotton candy.  Then ice cream in a helmet.  Then a pink unicorn from the majestic store.

Every single run they scored I was standing in line for one of those items.  They had almost NO offense when I was in my seat.

I was hoping he'd look serviceable when he arrived.  I wasn't expecting him to play near his All-Pro status of before the injuries, but he was terrible.  And the rest of the NFL agrees.   This team needs to turn the page on him, and try other options, even if those other options aren't ideal.

I'd be happy to eat crow on Dean.   Right now, I just don't see it with him.

I reported your post for the RAS score. I don't know what to say.

New plan - drink a beer at the top of the inning, go pee at the bottom.

And my 3 year old daughter who is begging for nuggies?

It might be perception, but that was the knock on Moore in DAL .... didn't run the rock enough.

I miss the days when all the prospects did testing. None of this, "we can't really know because we don't have a X time" nonsense.

I don't think he's ever going to be a head hunting MLB that scares opposing teams.  I think he could be like a Johnathan Vilma if he can stay healthy.

I miss the days when workouts in shorts didn't trump play on the field.

Actually, I left my wallet in line yesterday

Spoiler

While getting the nuggies, I pulled my phone out of my pocket and my "wallet" (was just the drivers licence insert and 2 CC's) fell out.  Had no idea it happened until I tried to pay for the nuggies.  Luckily someone was 1) Honest and turned it into the people behind the counter and 2) Noticed my dumb a** was looking for it so he flagged me down.  So I paid for his beer.

Easier to ignore after the fourth inning/beer.

Honestly, she sounds more responsible than you already.

I’m not sure he really deserved that reputation.  He loves the passing game like the next coach does, but I never got the impression that he was too pass happy.  With the Chargers I know he had some injuries at the RB position to deal with.  So if he has that pass happy rep, it may have a lot to do with circumstances.

Plus good coaches adapt.  It may not be a coincidence that the Eagles broke tendency and signed the highest priced FA RB the same offseason they hired Moore.  I took the Barkley signing as a sign that they weren’t as dominant in the running game as they’d like to be.

If Nick Foles and Eli Manning weren't present, it was a failed roast.
