Some quick random thoughts, primarily aimed at out-of-town fans who didn't get to see the game. The game stunk, by the way. It was nice to win in the end even though it didn't matter.

Guys who looked good: Nakobe Dean; Tanner McKee(!); Tristan McCollum

Guys who looked bad: James Bradberry (he's not a safety, folks)

McKee actually reminded me of Tom Brady with the way the ball was placed perfectly on almost every throw. It was freakishly good. I'm not sure he has a gun, but the kid can throw a football.

Our backup offensive line was pretty bad. Kenny Pickett was engulfed nearly every time dropped back. I would agree perhaps that his pocket presence isn't good and that he gets rattled a bit too easily.

Steen hurt (re-injured?) his ankle and never returned. I wouldn't be surprised if he's placed on IR *AFTER* final cuts are made.

If Huff and Smith flop we’re in trouble. No impactful edge rushers are rumored to be available unless we reverse uno card.

Who knows what Sweat brings to the table anymore either.

I understand it’s too early to worry etc but this has been my concern since we traded Reddick. Even at that time I thought at least one of Smith/Huff would shine in camp/PS.

Smith seems to only make plays when he beats the tackle off the snap with his speed. Haven’t really seen any improvement in pass rush moves. Tonight he got chipped to the inside lane that the LT should’ve had covered had he known about the chip coming.

Huff made some nice plays stopping the ball carrier tonight but not much to speak of on pass rush. Just crossing my fingers that it’s a lack of playing time in games and going against Lane in practice making him a non-factor in pass rush so far.

Why did Max Scharpring back pedal directly into Pickett’s lap every drop back?

It was on NFLN.

Ive seen 2 offensive drives so far and Pickett has been just fine. He even threw a "TD" to Gainwell fit right in a window between CB and S but Gainwell cut his route off. That was a pretty small area to fit the ball in and it was a good throw that should have been 7.

Im still catching up so maybe it gets worse.

It doesn't get worse. He threw two incompletions the entire half and our fan base still went nuts. For the most part, Pickett was okay playing with backups vs starters.

Yeah... Picket runs the check down offense well enough as a backup QB. But McKee comes in and on his 1st throw reminds you how much better he is.

Again, Pickett is a fine backup. McKee is a potential starter in this league.

I think this is actually a very reasonable take.

Spadaro declaring Pickett as the unquestioned #2.

I didn't see any starters get injured.

I'm good.

Same ish different year. Howie over invests in backup QB when we have a viable option for less than 1M.

After seeing 2017, I'd do the same ish every year.

Did Sirianni give any update on Steen?

Unless they can move him.

And do you really need to see more of Gainwell? He’s a RB3 at best.

Hearing the Eagles broadcast team say he's had a really nice Eagles career was baffling. He's a serviceable backup and that's it. There's nothing nice about his game. He's not a mismatch, he doesn't posses any special skillset that any of the other RB have and he consistently shows he can't break a big play. He's the Greg Ward of RB.

Translation: Lurie likes the guy..for whatever reason.

Looked like he made a few good throws that the "Weapons" couldnt capitalize on, and then their starting DL started dominating our backup OL and he really couldnt do anything. I dont blame him for any sort of bad performance tonight.

However, McKee is still way better and unfortunately I think the eagles will be too stubborn to let McKee be QB2.  I hope they can trade pickett.

Good for Ainias Smith to catch that 2PC

I'll add to this.

-Thomas Booker is a player. I don't know if he clears waivers. If the Eagles think DT is too deep, maybe he gets moved for a pick or WR/S depth?

-Dylan McMahon has potential at Center. Really like the way he moves.

-Trevor Keegan at some point is taking over RG.

- Jeremiah Trotter Jr. flashes. Missed a few tackles, but is always in the right spot. Starter by end of the season.

-TDP shows more juice than Gainwell and it isn't even close.

- Will Shipley SHOULD be RB2, but Boston Scott should have been playing more last year. The Gainwell lovefest needs to end.

-Ringo looks really, really sticky. I still think Rodgers could be moved.

-Tanner McKee is better than Kenny Pickett. Don't let the investment in Pickett dictate his role as QB2. He's not earned it.

- Bradberry is NOT a safety. What an abysmal night of tackling from him. Eat the $9 million, keep the better player in McCollum.

-Joseph Ngata made some plays. Not enough to make the 53, but encouraging to see. He's not dynamic at all, but he did catch the ball.

- John Ross, thanks for the combine record, but you aren't making the team.

- Ainias Smith. It wasn't flashy, but the 2 pt conversion was a great playcall and he executed. Maybe a confidence boost for him to step up.

- Nakobe Dean and Nolan Smith are frustrating. Neither are consistent but both make plays once in a while. Not ideal.

Few teams lost CB to injuries. Trade JB for whatever they can get.

I agree with pretty much all of that. Love to see Booker catching the eye of others. He was one of those guys in the late rounds that I really hoped would become an eagle last draft. Really have hopes for him sticking around here.

Should try to trade Gainwell, and Pickett for pretty much anything possible. McKee as #2 is probably a better QB situation than any other team in the league, and Grier might be a fine QB3 to keep on the PS.

Ringo celebrates sometimes when he didnt really do anything. Im afraid his celebrations give off the impression that he is better than he is. If he was starting he looks like he would be an average starter. Which is ok at this point because he is still younger than most rookies this year. He is still developing and already pretty good. But Im kinda good with Rodgers winning that job and Ringo continuing his development in spot duty for another year.

Ngata looks like a larger version of Greg Ward possibly.

They missed a few, I just watched the highlights and its about 9 minutes long and I counted at least 3 Holds on Dean alone and im not sure how the refs missed in in the pats long KR as well that was blatantly obvious

Guess its ore seasin for refs or goodell has told the refs to chill on the holding cuz it stops big plays😒

I did notice Ringo celebrating quite a bit. The sideline play deserved it as he played that perfectly. Didn't give the WR any room causing him to step out of bounds running his route. The perfect deep ball down the middle that the guy just dropped, he just needs to get back to the huddle. He was beat and the catch was there to be made. He had no impact on that incompletion. But, he's out there battling and sticking to guys. I like his game.

I know Nolan Smith has two sacks in the preseason, but he just doesn’t look like a player. His sacks weren’t really off skill. He was basically unblocked on the first one and the second was assisted by the RB chip.

He appears to be the new Derek Barnett. He will get fluky sacks. At least he doesnt get stupid penalties though. I suppose we have upgraded there.
