Pretty much.  He got wrecked by Isaiah Simmons, put him into concussion protocol, and never heard from since.  McDaniels shuffled him down the depth chart and that was it.

Seems like he's got a problem holding onto the ball, and he's known as somewhat of an improviser.  Can't really work within a scheme that asks him to do specific things, he's got to have chemistry enough with his QB to let him go do his own thing.

That's a shame. He used to be Mr. Reliable on 3rd downs for them.

Here's to hoping one of Campbell, Covey, Wilson, or Smith step up for WR3.

Zach Baun is the Kenny Pickett of LBs.

He’s the biggest hitter of the top four. Vic wants a tougher D than we had last year.

That may be it but they weren't hitting in practice when he made him a starter.

You think sports media writers are bribed to lie?  John Ross didn't look explosive in the first pre-season game.  He was slow in and out of breaks and didn't get separation. It looked like Wiggins stayed with him easily in part because Ross looked like Jalen Reagor.

Yes. Howie bribed the local beats to lie to make him look dumb for signing him or something.

Just me maybe, but Dean and Trotter have looked better than White and Baun.

I think LBs can be plug and play IF the line can keep them clean.

If only every team was LB rich like SF has been recently and the Jets are now...BTW has Dre Greenlaw completely recovered since the SB injury?

No, Greenlaw is out for now. He could miss the entire season.

Karma...I don't believe in it...but this outcome could not have come to a more deserving player...

I feel guilty typing that because I typically would not wish an injury on any player, but Greenlaw is just a straight a-hole, one of the dirtiest players left in the league IMO..

I don't think we can add a pure slot WR like Renfrow, even if he isn't washed. We have no real answer if AJ or Devonta gets hurt. Wilson? Campbell? We need someone versatile who can do both. I'd be ok with Covey in the slot if need be, but if we add a WR, it needs to be someone who can also play on the perimeter.

Agreed. They need someone who can play the outside in the event of AJ/Smitty injury, and Johnny Wilson ain't it...yet.

I dont even think a new guy needs to do both. I think we have plenty of options for slot WR. We just really need guys who can be outside depth more than anything.

They had at least 5 just last season, so they'd be somewhere between 3rd best and second last    🙂

I get being positive as a fan, and I will be negative as a Eagles fan (on both the Cowboys and the Eagles). My issues with the defense are multiple. First, Fowler gave you 6 sacks in 2022 and 4 sacks last year, and Armstrong gave you 8.5 in 2022 and 7.5 last year. That's an average of 13 sacks the last 2 years that need to be replaced, and there is no one on the depth chart with any real experience. The Sam Williams injury is a real disaster for the team, and you have to hope Kneeland can produce right away.

As for the DTs and LBs, the reports on Mazi Smith in camp have been underwhelming. Jordan Phillips is a nice piece, but the main issue for Dallas LBs last year was the interior DL couldn't keep them clean. Kendircks isn't what he was in Minnesota, but I think LBs can be plug and play IF the line can keep them clean. Dallas couldn't do that last year.

Finally, I think Bland and Diggs are 2 of the most overrated CBs in the game as they both gamble for picks and get beat deep. Gilmore was the actual number one corner last year, and he's gone now. Turnovers also tend to be cyclical, and it's hard to see a 3rd straight year of Dallas taking the ball away at a high clip (I could have said the same thing last year and would have been wrong, to be fair).

Add in the questions on the OL, the lack of WR options behind Lamb, and the worst RB room in the NFL, and...Jerry is banking on about 6 players (Dak, Lamb, Martin, Tyler Smith, Parsons and Lawrence) to carry the rest of the roster to the playoffs. That's not usually a winning formula.

If teams are smart, and not all of them are, they will run the ball right through Dallas.  Diggs and Bland can make big plays in the passing game, but I don’t think they’ll have as many opportunities to jump routes under Zimmer as they enjoyed with Quinn.  They will have to play a more disciplined brand of football.  I do not see the Cowboys being near the top of the league in defensive turnovers like they have been under Quinn.  There will be fewer defensive scores, and not as many short fields given to their offense.

They could be able to weather that storm if the offense had a more balanced attack… But I do not see their offensive running game being that strong this year.  Their OL rookies look solid so far.  I especially like Beebe.  Guyton has a lot of potential and could become very good in time, but I do see him looking like a rookie quite often this year.  I think most cowboys fans are under selling the departure of Tyron Smith.  It’s a bigger deal than they think.

This was actually the subject of an article I read after the 2nd pre-season game. It was specifically talking about tackling in space and the fact the Zim's defense relies more heavily on CBs making tackles and playing more disciplined. I don't watch pre-season games, I usually read the story lines from the game after the fact. I don't know what happened in the first game but there were four INTs against the Rams, and they had one against the Raiders, lots of backups for both sides. The pre-season is so different than it used to be that you can't really tell much about a team, it seems it's strictly about bubble player reps and rookie development more than getting ready for regular season, even the last pre-season game a lot of starters aren't on the field at all.

I watch preseason/exhibition games only if I’m available to and have nothing better to do.  I do enjoy them, but for very different reasons than a real game.  If people will remember, Kenny Pickett and the Steelers offense was bound to set the league on fire last year after that preseason performance.  So yeah, you cannot take anything real out of it.

I can’t wait for the real season to start.  We can finally stop hearing about how many interceptions the team got in a game, or how many passes a quarterback has thrown without throwing an interception, etc.  These things do not have no meaning, but they have far, far less meaning than a lot of fans (and media) put into them.

But the whole Zimmer v Quinn take is just how they run their respective defenses…nothing more….

BTW, what is this RAS you all are taking about?

Let’s offer a player for player…Pickett for DTR (and I’m sure Howie could get them to throw in a 7th 😎)

The Browns would love to get insight from Pickett on the Steelers.

Keep Tanner as #2….just a random thought.

Running QBs are the best after all…

McKee has thrown a bunch of interceptions in TC drills.  Now, that could be caused by a lot of things.  A defense focused drill, a bad route by a receiver, a bobble, a bad throw, throwing into tight coverage where a turnover really doesn’t impact things, a tired arm etc. not all his fault but……..maybe he isn’t quite ready for the back up role.

Think it’s still cheaper on YouTube even if you don’t buy YouTube TV. This is a kick in the you know what though.

It seems like you'd just have to avoid the Apple store. Can you do that and watch on an Apple device? I know about nothing about Apple, not a fan of Walled Gardens personally.

You can watch it on the YouTube TV app on an Apple device without paying a nickel to Apple.

I wonder when we will finally know what's going on with the uniforms for the Brazil game.

But where do you get the YouTube TV app if not from the Apple store? Is the YouTube TV app free? Otherwise Apple gets 30% of any purchase AFAIK.
