So what’s the reason Washington is dealing him? Is their WR room that stacked? Dotson was a good player at PSU and looked to be on the way of being a legit top end #2 WR.

For a few months now it seemed like they didn't get along and saw a video at camp where he was kind of by himself

Ideally, but also don't want them reaching for a RT either if the player doesn't justify it. 2024 was the OL class of the decade. Next year might not be as strong we'll see. It's supposed to be loaded with edge rushers though and I can guarantee that's going to be a huge immediate need next year, so I could see an edge being hard to pass up for them if a good one is available.

You have to remember the Stout factor too.  The Eagles gave Kelce some players to review.  I’m sure they will approach Lane with the same idea.  These guys know what Stoutland likes.  I don’t worry about the reach factor with olinemen…not as long as Stoutland is coach.  If they draft a player in round 2 or 3 that most ‘experts’ forecast as a day 3 guy, it’s because Stoutland thinks he can coach him up to worthy of that or more.

I don’t worry about the process, they just need to start it next offseason.

Everyone can rest about the WR3 now.

Huge upgrade. You have to wonder why they gave up so quickly since they have little behind McLaurin. I read that he was having some attitude problems there or attention to detail stuff. Can’t exactly recall. Certainly worth a buy low.

Maybe he got tired of playing for that trash team - can you blame him?

IMO, Dyami Brown is about to blow up if Daniels is as good as advertised at QB. Luke McCaffery is just going to be as solid as they come as their new WR3. Dotson was odd man out.

I’d call to see if a 3rd would get it done

Boom!

Thinking about the trade some more that 3rd round pick is more than likely going to be between pick 86-96 and the 5th rounder in return should be between 133-143

Has anyone on WIP suggested this means we are cutting AJ Brown yet?

I'm not going to sweat the OL, Stoutland has a nice group of younger OL to work with, and players can make big jumps between August and January.

Keegan, Steen, McMahon. Kinnard is 25, Fred Johnson is 27.

DB is night and day compared to last season. Solid at CB, Maddox, McCollum and Brown on PUP is safety depth.

LBs are faster and more athletic.

Edge is two DEs (Huff, Sweat), two OLBs (Hunt, Smith). Remains to be seen if Smith can play in space of is just a speed rusher.

Hurts is healthy, RBs fit the offense.

Two cutdown additions?  WR3, backup NT.

This team is positioned to make a long run - need the Football Gods to smile upon them, but as good a shot as any team in the NFL.

Hard not to like this trade.  Getting a #16 overall pick with two fairly productive seasons and still cost-controlled for two more?  The Commanders are a poorly run franchise and Howie has these organizations on his speed dial looking to fleece them.  He can come to Philly as a local guy who will be motivated and immediately slots into a good roster spot; he should be the WR3 unquestioned, and can move outside if needed in the event of injury to Smith/Brown -- or just provide Kellen Moore the opportunity to give more looks to the defense.

From strictly an ability perspective, maybe a little bit reminiscent of Howie acquiring Haason Reddick a few years back?

Love it. Dotson can play and adds even more vertical threat and can move Smith to the slot at time where he would just cook

Nice Carson Wetnz highlights.

Any chance Dotson plays on Saturday?

Cross off WR3. Now they just need to upgrade over Tuo.

Duuuuude AJ, Smitty, and Dotson in 3WR sets? Whether he plays up to his 1st round potential or not is one thing, but he’s an immediate upgrade over anyone they had in house. And if AJ or Smitty need to sit for a game or two I’m far more comfortable with him as the #2 WR option than anyone else we have. This trade could be massive for their offensive success this year. All 3 of our top wideouts can play outside or slot.

Idk, Carlos Emmons - he was excellent in coverage and was a decent pass rushing 3-4 OLB at PIT.

I wqs thinking Greenway maybe

42 catches for 500 yards per year is a bust for a WR1-WR2 you drafted him to be.  As a WR3?   That's right about where you expect to be.  So getting him as a WR3 with upside and you basically trade down 2 rounds plus 2 7ths, you have to like the trade.

And if he actually works out because his QB situation was ass the first two years, we'll be debating if we should pick up his 5th year option next year.

In terms of modern WR #s, Dotson is about to make the biggest downgrade ever. He's going from #1 to what looks like a # in the 80s. Maybe Brayden Mann can let go of 10 and take 38 or something like that now that punters can wear higher numbers.

Nice addition as 3rd WR.  Concerned about how they are going to use him and it is enough balls to spread around the 4 primary receivers ahead of Dotson.  Maybe the new OC has different approaches on the passing game.  Hurts also needs to go thru the progression faster and better on the opening receivers.

Fantastic trade - exactly the type of player we needed. Also everyone needs to keep in mind who was throwing him the ball his entire career.

To me, the value here is a capable replacement should AJ or Devonta get injured rather than his performance as the 4th receiving option.
