Yea it remains to be seen how much of a "steal" this is. On paper, almost everyone thought we got a steal with the Golden Tate trade, but until we see how a player fits within the offense, it's hard to say a 3rd rd pick is easily worth it primarily based on where a player was drafted.

I don't think he's a steal.  Getting a viable starter in the slot for essentially a 4th round pick this year is a good deal.  I don't know what would make this look like a steal for the Eagles.  I can't imagine him putting up 1,000 yards as the number 4 target.  Cedrick Wilson and Michael Gallup did, however, combine for over a 1,000 yards receiving and 70 catches as the 4th and 5th options in 2021 for Dallas.

Send their 5th rd back and throw in a 2026 4th rd pick for Allen

Of all the WRs available, he was the best option. Now obviously paying a 3rd(getting a 5th back, so the equivalent in trade is probably like a 4th-ish) changes the equation a bit.

But if I were to rank all the potential WRs available the Eagles could get: Metchie, Noah Brown, Thielen, Burks, Cedrick Wilson, etc I'd have Dotson above all those. Not because he's been way more productive than all of them, but I think his upside is higher.

I think most here would have been pretty excited about trading for Burks even though he hasn't been half as productive as Dotson. Gotta just view him as a WR3. And time will tell if it was worth the 3rd rounder in a broader scale..

We got a 5th back this time and threw in 2 7ths. So not as bad as just sending a 3rd for half a year of Tate.

True, my point was mainly that until we see how the OC deploys the player within the offense, I'm not going to get too excited just because he was a former 1st rd pick. He's quick and could be productive in the right circumstances, but Moore still is going to have to figure all that out. I'm optimistic though, and players like this are why I hated trades like the one for Pickett. That one made very little sense on the surface and I'd much rather use the draft picks we spent there on players like Dotson 10 times out of 10.

They can retake that picture now

I look at it the way Shane Haff broke it down. We basically used a 2024 4th for 2 years of Dotson, while also trading 2 7th round picks for a 5th rounder. I do that all day. It is an upgrade from Quez last year and Campbell/Wilson this year.

How would this waivered player fit in?  Who needs to go?

Who knows, I'm not the GM, that's for Howie to figure out. My guess is they're probably looking to find a better option than Toth, Hennessy, Gates, etc. They're always looking to bolster the OL. The Eagles do it obsessively. If someone's available they/Stoutland like, it's probably top on their list to add someone to.

Would love to know what the eagles draft grade was on him a couple years ago

also, what’s nice about the trade is if it works out, you have a fifth year option on him as he was a first round pick.

Yea, I don't see that really being an option. Even in the lowest slot you're looking at like $16M for one year. If he plays well then it shoots up even more. That with Smith and Brown is a lot allocated to WR.

Curious what number he goes with. 1 is taken and he wore 5 in college but that number has been retired by the Eagles.

I'm going to guess he goes with 12.

700 yds and 7 TDs is firmly within "steal" territory but I doubt he gets close to that. I'm expecting maybe 400-500 yds and 3 or 4 TDs. Which is fine. Not bad, not great, but fine.

Can Hurts even progress to a 3rd option 😂 I'm glad he takes some pressure off Smith and Wilson as they develop.

That's still better then what they had last year

Almost anything would have been.

Cross off WR3. Now they just need to upgrade over Tuo.

When Fangio talked with the press and was asked about back up NT, he said back ups need to be more versatile than just NT.  Kind of fateful as to Mustipher making the team but reflects on Marlon T as he can back up both DT positions.  Didn’t see Davis lining up in 0 when he played in the first PS game.  I think he will see some 0 but not all the time and probably less than we think.  That’s why I think Marlon T sticks. He can play more than NT.

No chance. They aren't giving Randall's number out.

Here's my initial 53 now:

Really need to upgrade backup NT as Tui can't anchor at all.  You can easily cut Ricks to keep another OL (Kinnard).

I'm guessing he doesn't end up with the number that hasn't been used in almost 30 years.

This is true. If AJ and Smith are not open, he'll run

QB1 should give up his number and give it to Dotson

Hard to see them carrying 7 CBs

Will Dotson play Saturday?
