One thing I can't figure out, who dresses as the backup Center on game day?  McMahon? Toth?

Here's my initial 53 now:

Really need to upgrade backup NT as Tui can't anchor at all.  You can easily cut Ricks to keep another OL (Kinnard).

Hmmm… Kinnard and TE3 at the expense of McCollum/Jobe/Ricks.

I watched Dotson is Washington a bit, and thought he was a pretty decent WR.  I'm struggling to understand why the Commanders traded him.  This guy is entering his 3rd year as a WR and he did OK last year with ~45 receptions.  They traded Dotson and now their WR depth looks paper think behind McLaurin.  So.... why?  Did Dotson ask to be traded?  They're rolling with a WR corps that includes a rookie 3rd round pick and a guy that has 29 career receptions.

Dotson is pretty much ideal as a 3rd receiver.  He comes to Philly and doesn't have to be the guy.  I don't think there's enough footballs to go around for him to put up good numbers, but I think he will make an impact.

Hard to see them carrying 7 CBs

They carried 7 last year, but I think Ricks would be #53 on this list since hes not as good on special teams as Jobe is. I don't see him staying on the team long term, just for the initial 53 cut down.

To me, the value here is a capable replacement should AJ or Devonta get injured rather than his performance as the 4th receiving option.

Exactly. He can step in as the #2 on the outside far better than anyone else on the roster.

We got a 5th back this time and threw in 2 7ths. So not as bad as just sending a 3rd for half a year of Tate.

And we traded our 4th for Miami's 3rd next year. So we essentially traded a 4 and two 7's for Dotson and a 5th.

They could always slide Dickerson over if need be and plug someone in at guard. But assuming they dress 8, the backups are Steen, F. Johnson and probably Toth. So Toth would be the backup.

Switching topics, still not sure what the point of signing Caden Sterns was. Berman said the other day he labors around just to walk to watch practice. On their last pod Frank and Zangarro said the same thing, he looks nowhere close to being able to run let alone contribute. Seems like he's destined to be waived/injured and revert to IR for the year unless they come to an injury settlement and resign him at some point.

I don't think they can just put him on IR directly. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the rule is it has to be a new injury and not a pre-existing one to place players on IR.

You went back far for that one. I completely forgot about him until I saw his name. Didn't he do well in NE or somewhere else after?

I don't remember.  I just remember us all talking about the terrible QB play he dealt with thinking he was breaking out here.

I'm guessing he doesn't end up with the number that hasn't been used in almost 30 years.

I didn't realize that 12 hasn't been used by the Eagles since RubberBandCunningham left.  I loved watching him play, especially on MNF. He was electric.

Trolling the Washington boards -- they think they're about the trade for Aiyuk.

Unfortunately, Acho is an idiot, so we may be screwed.

Giving Acho a platform and a microphone was the worst thing we've done as a society

Fran Duffy leaving PE.com.

Sure hope some Philly media organization hires him.  He would immediately be better than 90% of the Beats and it would be refreshing to see him being totally honest about players, not being required to hype.  His would be a podcast worth watching.

My theory is Toth will make the practice squad and get the 2 or 3 call ups they are allowed. He will be the primary backup center on game days. After that, they will see how McMahon has developed.

I don't think they have a 3rd TE on the team and would have to come from either cut downs or another trade. Same with backup Safety. At least McCollum has familiarity with this team/defense, but he could also be upgraded with cut downs.

It's some stupid organizational decision where they won't retire it for some random reason but they also will never give it out

Yea, it doesn't make much sense at all. Can't answer your question but just as confused as you are.

Sidenote, I really enjoy Zangaro and Reuben Franks podcast. They pair really well together and offer good insights.

There's nothing not to like about this trade. We got as good a WR3 as there is in the NFL.

Any chance we trade Ricks to Cinci for either All, Sample, or McLachlan?  They need CB we need TE and they have a pretty deep TE room

But throw in SB and DG, and if the coaches and Hurts are mostly competent, that offense should score a massive amount of points.

I thought the same.
