Brandon Graham was a major disappointment in his first few years as well, honestly his first contract. We could have drafted Earl Thomas.

Not saying Smith will turn out like Graham at all. Just thinking you have to give some time. He barely played last season and it's preseason.

I agree. While it's not encouraging right now the season hasn't been played yet.  Let's see if he develops over the course

Yeah way too soon to give up on Nolan Smith.  The natural athletic ability is there as is the character to succeed.  He just needs to develop and learn to how to succeed in a league where he is so undersized.

Not so hot take. Hunt, Johnson and Okwara all showed more than Nolan Smith. Would you take a 3rd for Smith and just cut your losses?

Probably not

Want Burks on this roster too.

There has to be weeds elsewhere that can be trimmed

Burks as a backup may offer more than Baun does as a starter.

Hell of a question to have on a SB caliber roster

Too early to panic when vic is running cardboard bland defenses in the PS

Paris Campbell is better today but I think I'd keep A. Smith for the long term

he should get IR'd and have another shot at making it next year. But he doesnt deserve a roster spot at all. Campbell can play. Hes just been injured. He should be on the team.

I didn't watch a second of pre-season game #3, but the consensus is that it was an incredibly boring game.

If Burks didn't get hurt on the 1st day of camp he might be the starter right now

I don’t get it with Nolan Smith.  Incredibly rare athleticism.  It’s literally once every 5 or so drafts you get someone with his explosive traits.  Great attitude.  Smart.  Zero character issues.

And yet he’s on pace to be a total whiff in the lineage of Marcus Smith and Derek Barnett.

He's way too small

I didn't watch. Some of you said defensive depth looks bad.

How about the secondary in particular?

burn the film.

McCollum looked decent. DeJean up and down. Jobe, Ricks and McPhearson looked pretty bad.

When I watched the highlights the first play was a Vikings RB just shouldering an Eagles DB tackler to the ground like he was a child.  I thought to myself "I hope that guy is trying out for nickel and not safety”

It was #35 Andre Sam.  Listed on the Eagles website as a safety.

Why would you give up on someone you knew was a bit of a developmental athletic freak one year into his 4-5 year rookie contract, when his D-Cord got fired, twice, for being inept? I swear, even the oldies here have been infected by the instant gratification mentality. Lol.

Graham took forever then turned into one of the best edges late in his career we've had this century. It's a great example why sometimes patience pays off.

Not only I didn’t watch, I had no idea when it was. I have receipts.

We went down to the car show in Chesapeake City for the day. If anyone lives within reasonable driving distance (we live in souther Chester county and it was about 35 mins) I recommend it.

After spending the day down there I finally had a chance to check in on this thread and saw Dotson wasn’t going to play. So at 5:52 and sent a text to a few family members about it.

5:56?

”Wait, the game already happened 😂 "

I tried warming up to the Smith pick. Seems like another super athletic player who's not very good at football.

he isn't a "super athletic player"   His combine  or pro day numbers weren't impressive.  He's versatile in that he was rb for a bit in college, seems to have had a start there, not just a weapony wr like Covey, in addition to Covey.   But Parris Campbell 4.31 40.  Jahan Dotson 4.43,  A Smith 4.55.  I think that A Smith has the resume of weapony guy, as opposed to good route runner guy - like Dotson or A Smith - but he doesn't have the great numbers.   His 6.84 3 cone is good though. And his best number 21 bench is definitely very good for WR.

I would add that his stats today weren't of a super athletic player - 4 yards per target.  Parris Campbell is the super weapony guy, and his stats were 17 yards per target,  with good yards after catch.  The difference between 4.31 and 4.55.

yep. some deep ball coverage to brush off some cobwebs but he was nice against the run. Hes gonna be just fine.  And those plays are why, even though I think he might be a fine outside CB- its so much more exciting to see his skill set used in nickel.

Im getting around to the Chris Long/Nick Foles podcast and its interesting, and very nice to hear that Foles and Wentz never had animosity. And Wentz is helping support Foles' new clothing brand DadSzn.

He’s talking about Nolan Smith

Didn’t watch any of the game

But is McKee still a future HOFer?

Who would win in a fight?

DeVonta Smith, Ainias Smith, Nolan Smith and Brandon Smith

vs

Lane Johnson, Fred Johnson and Patrick Johnson

Johnsons seem like the favorite but the Smiths have speed and numbers. Lanes kinda old too.
