Looks like Ernest Jones could be had in a trade. Just the linebacker Vic would need, after all, we can't have a good defense without a good ILB, his words.

Howie trading for a LB that wants a new contract?  It will be just like that time we traded for Urlacher.

Eagles don’t have a single player, Davis included, that strictly plays Nose.  From "base” 3/4 (using Kempski’s words against him) the Nose usually plays from the 0 position to start so his gap assignment is usually the one gaps.  But positioning wise, the DTs tend as much to line up on the shoulders and go back to Davis’ snaps and you’ll see that.  Because Fangio doesn’t run a base 3/4 or a base 4/3.  He runs a lot of different line looks.  We were just starting to see that more and more with Gannon, but Rocker and Desai, not so much.  When Huff and Sweat are in, the team is technically in a 4/3 unless there is only one DT.  But either might drop in coverage.  Doesn’t change much when they replace Sweat or Huff with an ILB.  Really doesn’t change as much if the Eagles have Williams or Carter lined up as a 3/4 DE except you won’t see them  drop in coverage.  I believe you will see all kinds of DL looks with stunts and some blitzes this season and what the play looks like initially probably has some disguise to it.  I like what Fangio says about stunts (the players have some freedom) and blitzes (he wants to blitz when he wants, not because he has to do so).  So take Marlon T.  He is not a back up NT, he’s a DT that will be asked to occasionally play Nose.  Mustipher needs to be more than a back up Nose.  I like the way he pushes but he really doesn’t have the athleticism to play either DT position and cannot play a 3/4 DE position.  (Hall needs NFL strength and technique but like Booker, Williams and possibly Ojomo, can probably play  3/4 DE.) BTW, Davis and Carter can play that 3/4 DE position with their athleticism.  That really allows for some stunts.  I am excited to see what happens when they aren’t playing vanilla defense. Now we get to see what the coaches do.

1st preseason game on defense there were a few different alignments with the starters.

Huff, Carter, Davis, N.Smith (Standing)

Huff (Standing), Carter, Davis, Williams, N.Smith (Standing)

Huff (Standing), Carter, Davis, Williams

Obviously there are many more alignments you can run here and different combos with LBs, but I feel all of these positions have depth except for whats behind Davis. So when he needs a breather or if he gets injured, who is going to be able to go in there and anchor the middle? I really don't trust Tui to be that guy.

To be frank, Mr. T stinks.  I cringe when he comes in the game. He has done nothing in three years.  Would prefer Mustipher over him.

I doubt there's a better candidate that will be cut that's an upgrade.  Davis is likely to get a far higher percentage of the snaps than he has in the past.  So why invest resources in a trade?

Yup.  Carter and Davis need to be logging 60-65% of the defensive snaps, and Milton Williams should be above 50% for that matter.  The other DT on the roster will be rotating in as necessary as depth.

Not sure where this analysis has come from.

A mystery to me as well.

First one reported and expected. He was terrible.

Is Kenny Gainwell still here?

Yeah, he reminded me of Winston Justice...against the Giants, over and over and over.

I have no idea how Tuipulotu keeps making the roster, everytime I see him play hes lying on the ground while some eagles fluffer is talking about how strong his hands are, unless hes picking grass with those hands hes useless...

Tarron Jackson cut.

Metchie, but I’m happy with at least getting one of them

Metchie is BFF’s with Devonta and played with Jalen, I want more chemistry
