They aren't as nice as we are here.

Slander!

Or maybe it's libel.

So Bo Wulf answered my question yesterday. Ainias Smith and Albert O have to take up 2 of the 8 spots to return in the season. Eagles only have 6 left for the year. May or may not matter in the long run but using it on those two is head scratching.

Someone loves Albert O.

Enough to jump through hoops to keep him around but not enough to let him anywhere near the field.

Now this is definitely slander.  Hutz is my role model.

Makes me wonder if it’s not Kellen Moore.  No one loved him enough to give him much of a chance before.

Lawyer prophet sounds like a really weird late night TV show starring Benjamin Bratt...

the Eagles TRADED for Albert O.  It was around cuts time last year, but the Eagles did give up something.   He has TE size and great TE speed.  3 years in a row, he had 10+ catches.  Calcaterra has 9 career catches.

I would have preferred that the Eagles keep Tyree Jackson, instead of Albert O having to learn a new offense and never play.  But Albert O has good size and speed, the other stuff is a mystery.

More like Albert 0 (zero), amirite?

Nick Chubb is missing at least 4 games to start the season and had a gnarly injury so who knows what he looks like if he comes back. Don’t fall for the name value. It’s basically Purdy and White for Stroud and I wouldn’t trade Stroud.

SI had an article where a doctor was saying it could take as long as week 11 to see him.

Quote

"It was just confirmed that Chubb won’t be ready for Week 1 and starting on the PUP, meaning he is missing at least the first 4 games, which was to be expected after his significant knee injury that ended his 2023 season. While he might be ready to return in Week 5, but I think there’s a chance the Browns take his return slow and he returns between Week 5 and Week 11 (after their bye)."

Not shocked.  It was really bad looking when it happened and I was shocked it was announced it was only his (MCL?).  Of course it was MCL, ACL and I think his meniscus when they got in there.

They used an IR spot on Albert O.

that's attorney.  One's a degree, the other's a job. Howie's a lawyer.

Interesting.  And what are the requirements that need to be fulfilled in order to get a job as a lawyer?

The hardest decision is when to give up on a prospect. 26 seems to be the cutoff, at that point either your a NFL caliber player or you're gone.

Albert O is 26, the problem may be more health than the need for development, though he doesn't block up to his size.

When you look at the backups on the roster:

McKee (24), upside left as solid #2 QB

Shipley (22), Wilson (23)

Covey (27), proven PR.

F Johnson (27), big improvement last two seasons, Keegan (24), Steen (24), Kinnard (25), big jump this offseason

Ojomo (23), Tui (25), Booker (25) made a big jump this offseason.

Hunt (23), N Smith (23), P Johnson (25), Dean (24), VanSumeran (24)

DeJean (21), Ricks (23), McCollum (25)

Most cuts were "futures" signed at 25-26, i.e., put up or shut up in camp.

Younger cuts:

Davis-Price (24), Nicholls (23), Milton (22), Ngata (23), Dankwah (24), McMahon (23), G Hall (23), Garner (24)

With better scouting, the pool of quality UDFAs has shrunk.

So Howie's moving more toward signing SFAs in the 24-26 year old range, guys who were good enough for a couple TCs and some PS stints, and young enough to make the jump to usable bench player.

I have two predictions I feel particularly good about.

One, Jalen Carter and Quinyon Mitchell will establish themselves as not only home run picks but the best picks on defense the Eagles have had in a generation.

Two, this will be Hurts' most efficient year by far.

I sincerely doubt that Chubb will be anything like the player he was. This is exactly why no one should be upset with players trying to get every dime they can when they can.

Yeah, because there's me saying "look the Eagles are doing exactly what I was saying would be great and almost everyone else was saying "no, that's crazy, you can't do that".  I'm a prophet, or persuasive.

Yes, you will see VanSumeren doing great things on offense if they have him do some offense things.   There are many others on defense who would be great or at least useful on offense.   We're seeing VanSumeren doing well doing a fairly complicated and difficult wide receiver route, compared to go out there in the backfield, run at the sideline and turn around.    If he can do that, he can do simple stuff, and there some areas where he should be able to shine.  If those routes are merely ok, the kind of run blocking he'll give will be great.  Downfield blocking on pass plays. blocking for the receiver after he makes the catch.

Nolan Smith and Devin White both were RBs in high school,  they should be able to carry the ball, go in motion, take pitches, short routes, pass protection.   You could have Saquon do pass protection, but having him running a route would be better,  if Nolan Smith or Devin White were pass protecting from the RB spot.   Pass protect well, they're the right size for that,  or a short pass in the flat, which could turn into a big play because those guys are big and fast.  Their numbers are roughly comparable to Saquon's.   Heavier by 4-6 pounds.  Baun brings HS QB, lots of running, state offensive player of the year as QB.  And many more.

No, you’re just heavily on the spectrum.
