To be clear, Dawkins wore 24 in preseason his rookie year, NOT during the regular season. He switched just after final cuts and before the opener. It's the same as Quinyon Mitchell switching from 30 to 27. Keith Jackson did the same thing as a rookie when he switched from 84 to 88 prior to the season opener after John Spagnola was cut.

Thank you, I thought I was going crazy as I didn't recall him wearing #24 in his game against the lions that year.

No, Albert O and Smith have already been designated with 2 of their 8 spots.

Before the season you had to specifically designate and could use up to 2 of the slots but I don't believe you have to designate guys during the season. The slot is only used up if you bring them back.  Someone can correct me if wrong

I doubt they were going to dress Bradberry week 1.  They may wait before putting on IR.

Probably because it is.

Yea, sorry if that was misleading. Vaughn Hebron was 45 to start his career here, moved to 20 and then was released before the season allowing Dawkins to move to 20.

I always liked Herbron not only as a player but also during his time on Post Game Live.

You are right. Besides those two guys there are no pre-designations. They take up a return spot once the practice window is opened.

Gainwell did not play that well last year.  He looked worse than he did in the prior season and he was heavily utilized in situations where they would have benefited from a more dynamic back.  He was the 2 minute drill RB which was nonsensical given that he wasn't a better pass catcher than either Scott or Swift.  He would be OK as a number 3 RB.  I think one of the reasons he drew the ire of the blog last season was his utilization.

That's on Brian Johnson.

Gainwell's always been what he is - perfectly mediocre, completely replaceable, entirely within his element as a backup/situational player.   He was put into situations that may have been beyond him, but what was he gonna do, say no?   It's like getting mad at a bear for being a bear.  He is what he is.

More #s

Jack Stoll is 87

Andre Sam moved from 35 to 31 and Caden Sterns is now 30

I wonder if this isn't a pseudo IR stash

Well at least we won't have to see Bradberry get burned for the 1st half of the year.

What the hell is Dotson then?

10?

Nope, that's Mann.

Howie goes over to Bradberry during practice. "Hey man, just wanted to let you know we're close to trading you to the Raiders."

Bradberry: "The Raiders? Hold on, I want to work out over there in the corner by myself behind the blocking equipment, be right back."

2 minutes later

"Ahhh... I hurt my ankle. Guess ya can't trade me to the Raiders"

Looks like they're both #87 - I guess PS guys can have same numbers as active roster?

Yeah caught that as soon as I hit submit

Unfortunately, I don't think it's a Brian Johnson thing, it's an Eagles thing. They love KG for some reason. There was a report out of camp that in one RZ drill, the Eagles ran 6 plays and every play went to KG both the runs and the passes.

You're correct that he's perfectly mediocre and completely replaceable but they seem to want to feature him. I don't get it. He's not a threat to break a big run. 10 out of the 16 games he played in he averaged less than 4 YPC. 8 of those games less than 3.5 YPC and 6 of those games less than 3 YPC.

I will be happy when KG is gone.

No, not during the season. Even in the offseason they never give the same number to the same side of the ball. It's always one on defense one on offense. I'm guessing Dotson switched to something and it's not out yet

87 as well. In yesterdays practice footage, Stoll was 83 and Shipley was still 39 but PE.com is where the new numbers were listed. Official Eagles page vs our own sets of eyes?

Cut Grier, give Dotson 13, re-sign Grier to the PS.

Ah, thank you. I didn't remember that.  But then again in 1996 I was a freshman in college, pledging a frat and playing rugby.  My state of mind was "altered" to say the least
