This was never going to be the year, they never intended it to be when they punted on the season last free agency so they could have cap space this summer.

In appropriate fashion.

I'm surprised there's no video of the incident either from other drivers or body cams from the cops themselves. Sure would help to clarify who's telling the truth here.

And body cam was off…

All of them? Always makes me suspicious of the cops' side of the story when that conveniently happens.

For goodness sake! They were directing traffic. Any misbehavior was initiated by the golfer.

Not possible. Gold if a gentleman's sport. You are implying rather ungentlemanly behavior!

Not sure this is true. At big golf events, players are given special cars to make sure they aren't caught in traffic and can get to the course in a timely manner. If the officer involved didn't know this, and it sounds like he didn't, that could have had a significant impact on their interaction.

And regardless of big golf events, the laws of the road dictates that the operator of a vehicle follow all instructions given by police that are directing traffic at the scene of an accident.

Not necessarily. You are taking a hardline biased stance on this for some reason. But there are plenty of events where police have special instruction to do things differently. ie. the laws done apply to everyone.

One such example is the toys for tots corvette ride by Kerbeck, now Ciocca in Atlantic City. The police allow the corvettes to open it up on a stretch of the AC Expressway. Speeding is allowed. No tickets.

Is it really impossible for you to imagine that police had instructions to let golfers in marked vehicles pass?

I wonder how the rules might change on the AC Expressway if a fatality occurred just before that event.   My guess is that there would be some adjustments made to the prearranged plan.  Maybe one or two.

There would likely be a plan to divert traffic, as there was in the case of this golf championship.

So i was at Valhalla today and i can tell you traffic management around there is fubar. Small roads trying to handle a ton of buses. No room for much of anything. The cop was still a dumb spaz

Yes, and new instructions would be given.... probably by police, on the scene.

Yup.   It couldn't be that the driver also spazzed.

The cop should be de-escalating over traffic management, come on man

Dallas and Minnesota should be a fun series.  I'm expecting Boston to handle the Pacers but there is just as good a chance they choke again.

He was hours ahead of tee-time. He could have waited. But no.I may curse and pound my steering wheel  in such a moment but I’ll live with it. This is not a case of abridging civil rights.

He was too important to wait.

Sounds to me like Scheffler thought the rules didn't apply to him, because he is a professional golfer going to a golf course and could disregard police directions at the scene of a fatal accident.    What would it have cost him to stop, listen and follow the directions he was given?  Zero.  All it takes is a little respect and compassion for others.   Apparently, that's not something he had to offer.

One thing as well, there was a fatality.  The area was an active crime scene and the job of the officers there is to preserve evidence, keep the lives of the investigators safe.  I’ve been to a lot of major traffic accidents, some with fatalities, major injuries, etc.  The investigators might as well have horse blinders on while they’re investigating because of how meticulous that job is.  That’s why there’s cordons and no go zones.  You risk the lives of lots of people trying to circumvent.  He tampered with a crime scene and jeopardized more lives thinking he was more important than the rest.

I think we can all agree there is some bad cops, just like there’s bad humans in every part of society.  This does not seem like a situation where the cop was in the wrong.  It’s really easy to sit back and arm chair QB things, but in all reality, 99% of humans haven’t been in dynamic situations like some people face on a day to day basis.  From everything I’ve seen and read IDK how the cop is even getting blasted by others.

Having run security and operations for around 20 or so D1 football  games at the USAFA campus the last 3 years of my career, a place that sounds like Valhalla or worse not having the infrastructure to handle the amount of people…i think you have no clue how truly hard traffic management is when there is no accident, let alone a fatality being investigated.  I think you severely underestimate how truly dumb, clueless, ignorant or the feeling of entitlement a lot of the population has.  It’s a little more than just blowing a whistle and waving cars.

Yeah I've seen some guys who add if fancy dance moves while they do it. 🤪

The writing was on the wall 3 years ago it wasn’t happening for them.

The sixers have 2 fatal flaws.  One is that the team is hot garbage after its two best players.  While they have the resources to soften that reality this summer, they don’t have the resources to really change it.

2 is that Embiid objectively cannot and will not carry them in the playoffs.

We can enjoy the ride each year, but it’s a ride to nowhere.  We’ve known it for years now.

I don't think he tampered with the crime scene or jeopardized more lives. The ESPN people who were next to Scheffler when the incident happened said they were diverted away from the accident to an alternate entrance, which is where the incident happened.
