I have a special ability that I rarely talk about. It's the ability to see things that never happened, as if they had. Bryce Paup gets blocked properly and Randall goes on to win League MVP, Super Bowl MVP and Pro Bowl MVP all in the same season, assuring his Bust in Canton.

Carson throws the ball away, rather than trying to score himself, and he ends the season having thrown 40 TDs, wins League MVP and Super Bowl MVP in a 56-0 route. The only downside to that though, is that we don't have the Philly Special and no Philly Special statue in front of the Linc. That alone is worth keeping things as they are.

You created this fan-run forum so I am going to bow to your grace.  I'm cool with everything  you stated here.

Thanks again for this.  Tip of the cap, good sir.

Did Foles get hot at the right time?  Yes, he did.  But, maybe the game vs the Falcons isn't as close with Wentz as the QB.  Maybe we have a big HT lead in that game and then coast?  Maybe we still roll the ghey ViQueens and he's just as dominant vs the Cheaters in the SB?  Maybe he doesn't throw that INT to Alshon and it's a TD and we have a 2 TD+ lead going into HT?

Too many 'what ifs', IMO.  We won SB52, what we've all been waiting on for decades (some of us) so while this COVID ish has us in wait-and-see mode for right now, let's try and enjoy the FACT that we're SB52 MFing Champions!

No. Not anymore.

Again no.

I still don't see a reason to say no. If Wentz doesn't get hurt, then there is no reason to think his MVP type season doesn't continue. Pre-ACL, Wentz was playing like a truly elite player. Since the injury, and since much of the adoration the fan base had for Wentz later went back to Foles, Wentz has had issues that seem both mental and mechanical.

Absolutely not.  Carson Wentz is ANTI-CLUTCH.  When the pressure is on he always pisses himself.  There is no way he would have held up to the pressure like BDN did.

F no

You can't judge 2017 based on 2020. In 2017, Carson was the best QB in the NFL. We win LII regardless of whether it's Carson or Nick under center.

No we don't..  turns out fate was on our side.

Foles played literally the perfect game in that superbowl. Put basically any other qb in there and it's probably a loss

The Seattle game that same year Wentz began to look shaky. Frankly if had actually played in the last few games against Oakland and the Giants I wonder if he would have kept that MVP shine. We saw last year he struggled in bad weather and windy games. I don’t see how a guy who makes dumb passes into double coverage can win in the playoffs.

The Hawks game was 1 game. He looked elite again in 3 quarters against the Rams. He wasn't throwing dumb passes habitually in 2017.

He destroyed a lot of bad football teams that year too. I’m not convinced he goes to the playoffs and doesn’t try and play hero ball for the L.

Meh, it seems you're trying to extrapolate his current play to that season. In 2017, we had a good coaching staff, good skill position players, a running game, and a very good O-Line all to go along with Wentz playing at an MVP level. I think too many are allowing recency bias to cloud how good Wentz was that year.

Wentz was good that year for sure, but the guy we see right now was there too. He wasn’t outstanding in that first Giants game that year. He wasn’t outstanding against the Chiefs. People act like he was perfect all 2017 and frankly he wasn’t.

He wasn't, but really, what QB is outstanding all 16 games in a season?

Yes- he was a better player back then with better coaches. He’s regressed quite a bit.

He was headed for the MVP that year.

Well even in the SB Brady was darn near perfect and made one mistake that basically cost them the game. I don’t believe Carson could have kept his level of passing up to that point. He never really showed he could win a shootout like that. I’ll state at that time I probably thought he could do it, but I’ve had my doubts he could since the 2018 season.

That's what I'm talking about. You're allowing his 2018, 2019, and 2020 decline to allow a bias against his 2017 play.

I also mentioned the issues he had in 2017. You’re ignoring the things that happened in 2017 as well. You’re dismissing them as "who doesn’t have a bad game every now and then?” Well the truth He did have bad games, in 2017 so I can’t assume he would have been great in the playoffs.

Because the very little bad in 2017 was far and away outmatched by the MVP caliber season he was having.

The problem is when the bad showed up it was concerning. Like showing up when he’s going head to head with Wilson and the Seattle defense which he still hasn’t beaten in his career. He also had no playoff experience which people take lightly, and just cause a guy wins MVP (he didn’t win it btw) doesn’t mean he’s a lock to win the Super Bowl. Just ask Lamar Jackson.

No. Next question

No, it’s not a lock we still win it. Just like it’s not a lock we don’t. I’m only going on what most of the evidence showed that year. Had Wentz followed up the Seattle game with a clunker in LA, I might feel the same way you do, but he bounced back in a way that showed me Seattle was just an ugly blip.

Foles played a perfect game in that superbowl.  Anything less and we lose.

His game against the Rams was a very strong comeback no doubt. I’ll give you that. I’m still not convinced he wins the Super Bowl. I used to think your way, but now I don’t.

You can't judge 2017 by what's happening in 2020. Carson played nearly a perfect 2017. There was no reason to believe that that would have changed in the playoffs. It's my firm belief that 2017 Carson, wins LII with no problem.
