I think the majority of people who say "the pain is necessary" tend to live hand to mouth. Their pain thresholds aren't tied to the immediate fluctuation in numbers of the financial markets.

They're more concerned with whether their bank accounts show negative numbers on a monthly basis. Deep down, theyre worried but not panicked. As long as their paycheck covers gas, groceries, and any other non-discretionary spending they'll continue to talk tough about things they really don't understand.

The second that changes... look out.
