A lot of these rubes have already lost their jobs. So I have a feeling it'll take a lot more than losing yet another one before it sinks into their thick skulls that they're the problem, not the broader economic climate.

Some quick thoughts on "Liberation Day," also known as "Liquidation Day." Obviously, these tariffs are way beyond anything the market expected. I think very little of Trump and the administration

I disagree, again, fundamentally.

The entire point Trump and his secretaries have made is that the US needs Europe to pick up the defense burden in Europe so that US assets can focus more on China. Basically everything is built around this shift.

Integration and cooperation in the Pacific among our allied militaries are increasing, not decreasing. New systems are being deployed in the region and there is an increase in military exercises. Heck, even Hegseth went on a tour there and announced the initial implementation of joint force command in Japan.

This isn’t retreating, it’s re-prioritizing from continental Europe to the Pacific theater. And frankly, it’s necessary. Bush and Obama both asked politely for Europe to increase their defense spending. They didn’t. Now they are. Could it have been handled more tactfully? Of course. But this shift needed to be made.

And what better way to deal with China than to start a trade war with all the other countries in the world that you need to have good relations with to isolate China. Trump is a carnival barker and an idiot who doesn’t understand the first thing about basic economics. The quicker you realize this, the easier it is to understand that he doesn’t have any plan.

Can't find it now but I read where there are 30% less containers in the water. Will see in about a month if certain things are missing on the shelves.

I'm not planting any vegetables! Too old and tired to take care of them.

Got to be honest. I find China's frustration with US propaganda laughable.

I get the point you're attempting to make but I don't think China is all that frustrated about Trump lying. They're just keeping him on the defensive knowing he will continue to make more problems for himself by doubling down on the lies.

Sure. But I'm also not going to fully lean into everything China is selling either.

It’s the reason progressives wanted a graduated income tax instead of tariffs to raise revenue

It's unfortunate the low-IQ trumpbots aren't too familiar with big words like "graduated" and "income."

China rejects Trump’s claim that Xi has called him by phone

Hong Kong

CNN

Chinese leader Xi Jinping has not spoken to US President Donald Trump on the phone recently, Beijing said Monday, reiterating that no talks are taking place between the two countries to resolve their tariff war.

The statement from a Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson is an outright rejection of Trump’s claim in an interview with Time magazine last week that Xi had called him, as the world’s two largest economies remain locked in a dispute over sky-high trade levies.
