Yeah, they stocked up inventories as much as they could but I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to give Trump some rope in hopes that he'd finally get some meaningful trade deals done. I think the rope is starting to run out and as inventory levels start to fall, consumers are going to be passed the full cost of tariffs.
July 15Jul 15 Of course tariffs were going to raise prices if they persisted. The people thumping their chests the last month have absolutely no foresight.
July 15Jul 15 Yeah, the cost of housing is trending upwards from the looks of it. Which is weird because the assurances from the wicked smaht trumpbots was that getting rid of all brown people was gonna make things significantly more affordable.

Japanese cars seems to be one. Overall the US consumer is being tariffed at its highest rate since 1933.

Since our biggest months are July and August, we start stocking and manufacturing inventory in the winter. We have plenty of pre-tariff madness stock on hand and pushed off the majority overseas purchasing until fall waiting to see if this shakes out. It has allowed us to maintain pricing, but some of the restock containers we're going to be looking at a 66% markup just to land it instead of 35-40% markup. We'll eat that to get us through peak months since we have enough lower cost inventory on hand and our margins are strong, but we're working on pricing earlier than ever and it's not going to be pretty. Especially since we deal with a lot of aluminum. Our US extruders just raised it 23 cents a pound.

I guess this, plus covering up child rape, are just things we're gonna have to live with for the next 3.5 years because we "didn't like her policies".
July 15Jul 15 And even that seems like a best-case estimate. Maybe they mean initially, but long term I'd bet it's closer to 90 or 100.
