We ended up doing a HELOC instead. We bought the house in 2019 so we have a weird amount of equity and refinanced in 2020 so don't want to mess with our mortgage rate. So no idea what our options will be with that but hey here's hoping!

I have a ton of equity in my house and was thinking about doing some renovations, but I'm also eager to have it paid off in 10 years barring economic meltdowns. I'd have it paid off months after my 56th birthday if I don't pay any more extra than I am today.

Way harder to get to but if that's your vibe may I also suggest magic mushrooms in Thailand. Twas a very stress free vacation.

I really, really want to see what it feels like. that's awesome. we would be there if we stayed in our "starter" home, but I was kind of a snob and wanted to move to a much nicer area in the exurbs for our "forever" home when I was in my late 30s in 2017. so we reset on the mortgage then, and then refinanced to a 15 year at low interest when rates bottomed in 2020.
