I think it’s going to take the defense some time to gel and get into their rhythm the first quarter of the season. Too many new pieces between Huff at Edge, the linebackers, secondary, and Fangio implementing his style. And that’s okay even though we’re all going to complain about it because on paper the offense should be able to pick up the slack. Hurts has no excuses to be back to 2022 levels or better. Every piece has been given to him and it’s clear where Howie’s priority has been and that’s been on the offense to put points up. I think they’re going to have to be very good before the defense comes together after the first 4-5 games.

12-5 is my prediction.

Who here is paying to rent an apartment for a football game for $40k?

No one here, but I'll bet Ms. Swift has rented one in KC!

So we can say anything at any time without consequence? I guess slander and libel and fraud are illusions. I understand your point of view, I do. I just don’t share it.

Did not say without consequence. Thus the fire in a crowded theatre and all

Libel and slander like other legal complaints have to show damages.

but you know all this…

you went and looked for an instance where it was used, but in an informal way.

I'm not arguing that the use of numbers never happens.  Just that it's not a real thing.

the closest you can get to official is the terminology in a tweet.

What college football bets does everyone like today? Really haven’t paid attention to any offseason happenings

I'm thinking 12-5 and on a positive note, while I live in Central Jersey, I have Optimum.  Optimum has some of the CBS, NBC and ABC NY and Philly channels and....they have Philly NBC!  Wooo Hooo!  That being said, it isn't in HD but at least I can watch from home.

PS...this Green Bay game has loss written all over it....if they win it, I go 13-4

Kelce was an iron man. Can Jurgens do that?

Based on last year's sample size... no.

I think they take the anything goes approach too far, but hate is subjective. I think harassment and doxxing should be banned. Anything against the law like threats. I see people on there all they do is reply to people with racial epithets. If I ran it those people would be banned. But I can also understand the "anything goes unless it breaks the law” approach as well because once you say ok we will ban hate speech, then bad faith actors will try to lump a bunch of things under the hate category that aren’t hate. I remember years ago social media platforms mass suspended users for replying to posts with "learn to code” and said that was hate speech. Which under no sane universe does that constitute hate, but you have activists and vocal minorities trying to categorize anything that offends them as hate. And if you start suspending users for hate, some worry eventually hate will be expanded to many many things and I can’t tell those people they’re wrong for being concerned about that.

I have to agree. I guess that the Blog constitutes social media but it is my one venture into that morass.

Mosher and Caplan supposedly said they thought there was a chance Dean starts over White. That was before this was released.

McLane said the same thing a few days ago.

Here's the kicker. Apparently there will be no tweeting from the game. So, I don't have Peacock and no twitter. About to be a very quiet week 1.

Is there a practical alternative to twitter for real time updates. I am woefully ignorant of online discussion platforms. I read but don't participate in BGN but they do have a comments sections and Brazil's supreme court hasn't gotten around to banning that AFAIK.

This is awesome.

I'm so glad that when I was growing up in the late 80s/90s, NFL Films was still being shown on TV and I was able to learn the history of the game by watching so many of the NFL Films Presents pieces. Whether it was the shows that were on TV on the weekends or the VHS tapes Dad would get me, it really helped me appreciate where the game came from. The NFL Network needs an NFL History Channel that plays NFL Films 24/7.

Also, looks like embedding tweets has been streamlined to how it used to be?

I would not be the fan I have grown into without NFL Films as a fundamental piece of that.  Sadly, now that NFL Films is a part of the NFL... and that the Sabols are both gone... it just isn't even remotely the same.  The Sabols came at the entire thing from the fan perspective.  They were first and foremost fans, in addition to being legendary story tellers.  They had a passion for the game itself and for telling the stories of the game.  That is sorely missing these days.

Threads, I guess? EJ Smith said he’d post from there, but that app failed pretty miserably. It rolled out too soon to try and take advantage of Elon’s incompetence.

That Gaudreau story wrecked me today. Total nightmare and I can’t imagine what their family is going through.

Yup. Makes it even worse is seeing the guy who did looking like he didn’t care or not showing any remorse on video. Only wanted to know when he’d be out of jail then visibly irritated when he was told he’s there til next Thursday.

For the first time in eight years, I don’t have to pay for NFL Sunday Ticket to watch the Birds.

No, this game is primarily on Peacock, unless I've been misinformed?

You have been misinformed

Both local areas Philly Local and Green Bay Local will have it broadcasted on regular TV.

How does the family move forward with the wedding? I can't imagine having to do that. It's just terrible. And, yea, the guy showing no remorse but instead is more upset he has to stay longer because of the holiday weekend is infuriating

On a side note, for those watching on NBC10, keep your phones away from you during the game if it's close and you have alerts setup. I learned the hard way that in games where there's exclusive streaming and they carry it locally, sometimes the local feed is like 30 seconds to a minute behind the streaming feed. And Youtube TV sometimes is behind as it is so if you have that it'll be on the high end of the delay.

You don't want to be watching the Eagles setting up for a game winning field goal and your phone giving you the final score alert before you see the play. I learned the hard way on this the last couple years.

If I’m an Eagles reporter, I just post on X from a VPN.

I know they’re imposing fines for doing that, but I’d take my chances with their clown court trying to come after me for it.

For what it's worth, when the Clutters were murdered (In Cold Blood...read it!), one of the surviving sisters who was away at school was going to get married soon. When the entire extended family came to the massive funeral service, they decided that they may as well have the wedding right then since everyone was already there.
