Great game yesterday all around.  Lots of talk about the D but what I was most satisfied with was the way the O was handled.

Yesterday was an excellent example of how best to set things up to get the most out of the team with the current Hurts as the QB.  Hurts did everything right and wasn't asked to drop back and throw 35 times.  He is most effective when the emphasis is on running including designed running plays for the QB.  When the mix favors the run it makes things far easier for Hurts in the passing game and his fantastic deep throws really come to the forefront.  He just isn't a guy that is going to be super effective with a ton of short timing patterns to move the ball.  Last year, he was slowed by injury and couldn't run and that really caused issues.  Maybe he can develop into more of a pure pocket passer with time but for now we need the mix we saw yesterday.

- No sacks given up and no turnovers.  On the other side, only one sack but solid pressure and finally two forced turnovers.

- Cincy did not punt a single time.

- First time I noticed DeJean have a really bad play when he left Gesicki alone to come up on Burrow and allowed a simple completion over himself to Gesicki resulting in the Bengals converting on 3rd and 22.  DeJean still had an excellent game in any case and had the fantastic stop of Chase on the 4th down play.

- Edge rushers with an ok game getting pressure.  Smith has made some big strides though still has a ways to go.  Huff looks much better now that he is only asked to pass rush.

- Great scheme by the Bengals to get Chase one-on-one against Smith for the TD.

- Fred Johnson played a great game.  He got help at times but there were plenty of plays where he had to fend for himself.

- Lane going down was really scary.  It was HUGE to have him jump right back in the game.

- Shipley showed a nice burst on the TD run that was called back.

Lane needs to stop doing that. Heart almost went

I think people underestimate Davis' value.

Now that the 5-2 is the base defense, he can play NT and dominates the front. If the front 7 can handle the run, the safeties can play deep on run downs and not have to bite on play action.

It's the 3 DL front that has been the big difference the last few games. By controlling the LOS and getting inside pressure, the edges/OLBs can be moved around, drop into coverage etc. without creating huge holes for the opposing run game.

Smith on Chase was not a good idea lol

Garrett and Crosby aren't getting traded. Every team in the league would want them.

There'd be a bidding war and I don't think we have the capital to compete in it

This truly isn't a shot at Hurts, because he was great. It's just something I looked into:

He had a three game stretch (also middle to end of October) last season that was similar to this one...and then he fell apart. Throughout his career, October is far and away his best month while November - January he's barely above .500 as a QB

Now this could all mean absolutely nothing and just be a total coincidence, but I am curious to see if that trend continues. Hopefully it won't.

We've all seen what he CAN be. After 2022, many of us said OK, now do it again. Prove that you are this QB. He's yet to do it consistently. We know he can but at the same time, he's shown us more often than not lately that he doesn't play like this. We NEED Hurts to be this QB. He's shown that he can be, he's paid to be it, and if he is, this is a SB team.

That account is just the worst.

Typed out a threatening message and misspelled fail. L

They still need to figure out how to best leverage Dejean’s talents.  Right now, the need is clearly in the slot.  Long term?  Maybe he’s an inside CB.  I don’t know.  But he’s so versatile you can’t forget to use him where he’s best.

Top 10!

Josh Allen, not Lamar, should be the MVP

I really feel like with his physicality, he is an excellent slot corner. Q and Ringo on the outside (assuming Rodgers walks), Cooper in the slot. f you can bring Rodgers back for a reasonable price, let him and Ringo compete for CB2.

With the amount they play 5 DB, I'm 100% happy with him playing the role he's in. I'd rather him excel in a "limited" role than be average in a starting role. If they feel Isaiah Rodgers can be CB2, then they need to give him a deal. Walking in to next year with CB1, CB2 and nickel CB having zero questions marks would he HUGE.

It's a great situation to be in. Rodgers and Ringo are two wild cards. Rodgers has played very well in his limited snaps this year. Ringo was decent too, but I think it's clear that Rodgers is the better of the two...as of today.

I still wonder if Ringo can make a Malcolm Jenkins CB to S move to better fit his skillset.

If it were up to me, I'm giving Rodgers an extension and not letting him test the open market. Move Ringo to S or see if someone overpays in a trade based on his upside.

Here’s a weird stat:

We are 8th in the NFL in total D. But we are 1st in total D in the NFC.

Lastly, it's time to move on from Maddox as in get him off the roster. Let Sydney Brown or Kelee Ringo be the Dime DB. Maddox is a weak link and gets exposed every time he's on the field. They are going to need a roster spot for Mailata in 2 weeks. Maybe Driscoll is cut and put back on the PS? Maddox just hurts this team.

The Eagles historically have been good at UFA signings. Baun, Saquon and Becton being good aren't that surprising. We've hit on RBs like Sproles & Mathews, LBs like Kyzir and Bradham and OG like Brandon Brooks & Evan Mathis.

But Howie hitting on back to back picks has been a complete and utter game-changer for this team.

If Nolan Smith continues to progress, it may be 2 drafts in a row.

The only thing I will say is later that same episode is when Stringer gets ambushed and killed by Omar and Brother Mouzone.

Bengals put Chase lined up in the HB spot which is what caused the mismatch. Not as easy to figure it out on the field live with only a few secs before the snap. It was honestly a great play design by the OC for the Bengals to create that matchup.

Is Omar the greatest character in TV history?

Top five for sure.

And left half at that.

They tried much the same pattern on the fourth down play where DeJean tackled him for a loss. DeJean recognized it the whole way.

Chase Young is my prediction if we make a trade.  Shouldn't have to give up a ton.

Chase hasn't done much since he blew his knee out

He was playing man coverage on the 4th and 1 stop of Chase.  The Cowboys use CeeDee out of the slot often.  There's an advantage to keeping him in that role mostly this season.  I think long term he becomes a player like Malcolm Jenkins or Dawkins.

I believe he's top 15-20 in pressures this year and tied for 8th (along with TJ Watt, Keon White, Jared Verse, Daniele Hunter) in QB hits with 12.
