Should be able to afford him dropping Slay and Bradbury this off-season. If he keeps performing they’d be foolish to let him go. Great age, nice 4 year deal and that position is set for at least 3 more seasons.

Agreed. If they could come back with Rodgers, Ringo, Mitchell, Dejean that would be a great young CB base. Feels hard to believe I'm saying that as it's been so long since they've had a good young CB room without high priced vets.

Cowboys fans really down this week, first they had to watch them lose to the Niners and then they had to watch their Yankees lose the Dodgers.

Well the Lakers are doing ok so far so they have that ...

Watched this last night, offense against Bengals looked night and day different.

Lots of play action and quick decisions.

Hurts looked really sharp  and decisive.

If he and the offense can continue to play like that theyre going to win a lot of games

I didn't watch the game but this is great to know they choked

Other than the Phillies winning in 1980 and 2008, my fondest baseball memory might be the 2002 World Series when the Giants blew a 5-0 lead they had in the bottom of the 7th inning in Game 6, up 3 games to 2.  The broadcast crew kept showing that turd Barry Bonds and the announcers were licking his sack every 10 seconds -- then the Angels scored 3 in the 7th, 3 more in the 8th, won Game 6 and won Game 7.

Bonds would have been among the least deserving players of all time in any sport or activity to win a championship.

I don't watch baseball so you have to give me a football equivalent of how they fumbled this lead.

Is it like SB 51 28-3

Or like SB 54 10-20

So they crammed a crappy poorly run team with a washed up QB into just about every primetime game they could. Good plan.

You're up 17 points late in the second quarter.  Your opponent then scores 17 points on their next three possessions off of consecutive turnovers, so it's tied halfway through the third quarter.

You both start exchanging field goals, but they manage to avoid stupid penalties and kick the go ahead field goal late in the fourth quarter.

Take SB 51 add Tony Romo's Field Goal holder fumble add Reagors drops against the Giants in 2021

DeJawn getting some love:

Needle-mover: Eagles DB Cooper DeJean

The simplest explanation for the Philadelphia Eagles’ turnaround over the past three weeks is their schedule — a game each against Deshaun Watson and Daniel Jones, another against a Tee Higgins-less Cincinnati Bengals squad.

Part of it still feels real, though. The communication and quality of play in the Philadelphia back end have taken a step in the right direction. There are probably a few reasons for that, but none are as obvious as DeJean now being in the lineup.

The rookie, billed as a do-it-all defensive back out of college, has taken over the Eagles’ nickel spot. And the Bengals game alone made clear the type of impact he can have on this unit moving forward.

DeJean’s awareness was the first thing that stood out. Despite Joe Burrow playing an outstanding first half, DeJean nearly picked him in the second quarter after passing off a vertical route in zone coverage and melting back to the middle of the field to defend a dig — a half-step faster and that was DeJean’s ball all the way.

Better still, there was a play in the third quarter on which DeJean pointed out Cincinnati’s motion of wide receiver Trenton Irwin before Irwin even moved.

By doing so, DeJean got his linebackers to bump across the moment Burrow turned his head to look at Irwin before the snap. It’s not often a rookie is that locked in.

DeJean’s pure coverage skills are no joke, either. The Bengals have gotten better about finding ways to put Ja’Marr Chase in the slot, but that didn’t prove to be an issue for DeJean. Chase got him once on a slant route in the end zone, but DeJean was otherwise up to the task — both against Chase and everyone else. For instance, DeJean bullied Andrei Iosivas on a slant route to force a tight-window incompletion late in the second quarter.

Then there’s the tackling. It’s no mystery why some scouts and draft experts thought DeJean could play safety.

On this play, the Bengals trie to rattle DeJean with the back-and-forth motion behind the line of scrimmage on a pivotal fourth-and-1. DeJean didn’t falter. Instead, he fired out to the flat the instant the ball was snapped and hawked down Chase behind the line of scrimmage. That’s teach-tape stuff when it comes to pursuit angles and confident tackling.

Being that DeJean plays in the middle of the Philadelphia defense, his all-around skill set goes a long way in providing stability and flexibility to a unit that needed a shot of both.

Jalen Hurts preaches patience with young QBs: 'Things take time'

With multiple young QBs struggling to live up to the early hype in their careers, Philadelphia Eagles passer Jalen Hurts - who wasn't spectacular right out of the gate in the NFL - is preaching more patience with promising signal-callers, Caio Miari of theScore reports.

"Things take time. Everybody has a different approach, obviously, going on," Hurts said Wednesday, according to Zach Berman of PHLY.

"I wasn't supposed to be the guy I am today. Nobody expected that. But took advantage of my opportunity, and that's what I encourage everyone to do regardless. I have a ton of respect for Tom Brady. And you hear him talk a lot of times, taking advantage of your moment. Typically, there's a different leash there, the earlier you're picked. But nonetheless, nothing's guaranteed and nothing's promised. But you have to take advantage of every opportunity that comes."

Three quarterbacks were selected in the top four of the 2023 NFL Draft, but two have already been benched midway through their second seasons in the league.

The Carolina Panthers benched 2023 No. 1 pick Bryce Young after starting this season 0-2. Young struggled as a rookie and didn't show much improvement in Year 2. The 23-year-old - who recently became Carolina's QB1 again to replace an injured Andy Dalton - has thrown for 13 touchdowns against 15 interceptions in 21 appearances with a 71.4 passer rating.

The Indianapolis Colts most recently decided to start veteran Joe Flacco over Anthony Richardson, the fourth overall pick last year. Richardson - considered a long-term prospect with elite arm strength and athleticism - played just four games as a rookie due to injuries. In six games this year, the 22-year-old has completed just 44.4% of his passes with four TDs to seven INTs. He posted only a 31.3% completion rate (10-for-32) in Indy's Week 8 loss.

"Sometimes adversity builds the appropriate callouses for you to be able to forge a new path and withstand different storms that come your way," Hurts added.

Last baseball question.

I still don't understand the error on the play at 7:37. The bases were loaded so there was going to be at least one score right?

.

If they get the force out at 1st no run scores and the inning is over. Essentially it’s 5-0 going to bottom of the 5th. Rizzo should’ve ran to the base but Cole should’ve never stopped running to first either. It was going to be a bang bang play at first either way. But rizzo thought Cole was running to 1st and Cole just gave up on running there assuming rizzo was taking it to the bag.

I updated my post. "..no one at first...."  :smoke:I realized this after reading the comments in the video.

I must be the only Phillies fan who hates the Dodgers more than the Yankees. Yeah, I hate them both, but there's just something about the Dodgers ('77 and '78 will never be forgotten) that irritate me even more. Fat-ass Lasorda has always made my skin crawl.

You saw them as a major rival in the late 70s and early 80s. I wasn’t born yet but I hate the Dodgers, but really I hate their fans more than I hate the team. I hate the Mets more than either of those teams. They are right there with the Braves. Frankly i wish neither of these two teams were in it but considering i hate New York fans as they are overly obnoxious like Knicks fans celebrating like they won the nba title after winning game 1 of opening round playoff series i like seeing ny fans suffer

You are obviously lucky not to have spent a lot of time around Yankee fans.

You might just like an unlikable player.

Yeah I don't know that choke accurately describes the 5 scores with 2 outs in 5th inning.

Glad those bum fans got to watch another team celebrate a championship on their field
