Some thoughts:

Guess the complaints about Hurts are finished? I remember when people said he lacked the arm strength to play NFL QB, hmm, he may not be a high velocity thrower but he throws a beautiful deep ball. Gives his receivers a chance to make big plays. And may not have the speed of Lamar or Murray, but better N/S where he can break tackles.

If Becton is going to start at RG, I'd think about Steen (LT at Bama) over Fred Johnson at LT.

I'd also think about McCollum or Brown over CJGJ, who looks a step slower than last time he was here.

Rodgers had a bullseye on his uniform, Maddox is useless. Maybe "veterans" are overrated?

Sure, Howie whiffs at times, but name the last Eagle draft where they hit like he did with Mitchell and Cooper. DeJean is a freakin' rookie and looks like a ten year veteran, anticipating every throw and coming up against the run like a SS. And Mitchell is already a shutdown CB that QBs try to avoid.

The pass rush is much better when Fangio mixes in zone blitzes, but I've noticed they almost never stunt, he went into the "safe zone" the second half and it bite them. Vanilla 4 man rush gave Lawrence too much time. There are a handful of elite pass rushers, otherwise you need to scheme a unit to create pressure.

And makes stupid ass throws where the ground saved a disaster at the end.

What makes you think that? Just because sirianni was far and away the biggest problem yesterday doesn't mean hurts was great either. His deep balls to devonta were perfect, the ball to dotson was underthrown like most of his deep balls are. There were several throws where you could tell he doesn't have any arm strength, and it was talked about during the game.

Hurts was fine overall (despite the bonehead throw in the 4th quarter that was nearly picked), but he still doesn't have plus arm strength, still holds the ball too long, and still takes stupid sacks vice throwing it away.

Sirianni's stupidity rules the day though

With the trade dealine tomorrow, what position would you like to see addressed if Howie makes a move?

I'd say either a DE or legit RB who can carry the load behind Barkley.

Huff has been a non factor to say the least. Nolan Smith has started to show up but it would nice to have someone else who can get to the QB besides Sweat.

I like Gainwell more than most but he doesn't have the burst.  If they aren't going to incorporate Shipley into the offense, I think they could do better there.

They should not waste a draft pick on a JAG who won't contribute. Howie's trades at the deadline are not good! The history says keep the picks and use them to trade up in the draft to get a better prospect.

And they absolutely should not trade for a RB, what a waste. Use Shipley and Gainwell, who does well enough in spots. We all know they could use a DE. But they're not trading premium picks for a top DE that would make a difference. So you're looking at trades like getting Avery, Quinn or Byard. No thanks.

Eagles are now top 3 in total defense, and the only team in the top 8 in both passing and rushing

Dennis Allen is out

Gainwell was terrible yesterday. Zero creation. Missed holes. If he was even an average back we could give Saquon more rest.

We need another RB.

You are definitely one of a kind

One strange thing from yesterday is that, with Huff limited, Graham saw an increase in snaps despite Smith having a few good weeks in a row. And Graham clearly wasn't having a great day.

Really a strange decision.

It looked to me like he saw the 1st down marker with intent to get the 1st down, but he also saw the defenders and made a conservative, safe decision to not risk anything, also knowing that if he were to end up out of bounds the clock would stop so he had game management on mind as well.

Maybe he can teach Nick.

Tbh i thought before the season that they’d be competing with Carolina for last place in that division. I actually thought Carolina with the additions they made on offense with Johnson, drafting legette and brooks and adding oline they would be better than what we saw last year. When the saints were 2-0 and they way they did it i was pretty surprised. Carr getting hurt didn’t help but frankly i think Carr is just not very good. Think what they are is closer to how they’ve looked for a while

Just saw the Saints news, more coaches are starting to get fired now. Season at the midway point. Crazy that the Saints were looking like the best team in Football and then after our Game and blowing out the Cowboys they haven't been able to recover.  Goes to show how seasons can change.  There are still 9 games left.  Eagles are in a good spot if they finish out November and have a 7 Game winning streak.  It will also be  2 Division and 3 Conference wins this month.  But we have a desperate Cowboys team, a Red Hot Washington Team and a Rising Rams Team coming up.

The Raiders also fired their Offensive Coordinator.

I know Nick has a winning record, but earlier in the season some fans said teams "never" or "rarely" fire coaches so early in the regular season. So far 2 head coaches and a coordinator were fired this year. Last year the Bills fired their OC and then went on to improve.

Remember when everyone was scared to play the Saints because they beat up on the Panthers and Cowboys, were 2-0 and had the top offense in the league?

This is why fans need to not be so fickle and judge things too early.

Also I haven't paid attention, but the Steelers are 6-2 and leading their division over the Ravens? Did not expect that.

Some speculated the Eagles may try to trade Huff because they barely played him last night. I'd lean that's very unlikely, but it was fishy. Because if he truly hurt his hand then why play him some snaps? Why not just sit him. He's either healthy enough to go or he isn't.

Need AJ for the next two games, it's the most important two games of the season. Hope he guts it out and plays, I think he will.

No. Yesterday he still made a few mistakes by taking sacks, but he also threw some away. Overall he's been much better the last 3 games. Last year, he had a stretch of good games around this time, then he (and the whole team) regressed during the collapse. So we need to see consistency.

Yesterday the biggest problem was Siri, so that gets the attention. Plus defensive collapse letting them get back in, the fluke fumble, and the highlights of Barkley and Smith making big time plays.

Hurts has had problems for 2 seasons now, he has ups and downs and almost streaky. He will have a really strong series or game winning drive at times, then others turn the ball over and make stupid mistakes. He has to show consistency. It appears Moore is working with him every week, the play calls are evolving and getting more creative and the offense is gelling more. It took 8 games for them to finally score in the 1st quarter. So improvements are happening. We need to see Hurts continue on this trajectory and play well and reduce the mistakes and stay away from turnovers, and good things can happen.

Tbh it’s a bad product right now. There’s only 14 teams with a winning record and 11 with 3-6 record or worse. 14 teams below .500. And 18 teams at .500 or below. Some of these teams like the bears are 4-4 and Denver are 5-4 but when you look closer their schedule gave them a bunch of wins against bad teams. Bears beat titans, rams (down kupp and puka), Carolina and Jacksonville. Broncos beat Tampa ( when healthy solid win) then beat jets, raiders, saints and Carolina. All those teams suck they are not a playoff caliber team when you watch them most of the time vs. other playoff teams . I’d argue if you asked me how many legitimately good teams in the nfl right now, I’d say maybe 11: lions, chiefs, buffalo, Baltimore, eagles, Vikings, Washington, Atlanta, chargers, GB and Houston. Some of those 11 i think are good but i don’t think are legit contenders. For instance teams like Houston. They beat Buffalo but the rest of their wins have been bears, Indy twice, NE, jags.

Derek Carr… coach killer

I need to see it again, but I thought CJ was actually pretty good yesterday.

He got eaten alive in coverage yesterday. Especially in the second half against #17

Huff had been making progress but it was as a down lineman.  The Eagles also let their lead evaporate immediately, so the Jags werent really forced to pass much.

I still can't believe Sirianni pissed away so many points against the Jags at home.  That should have been a laugher of a 2nd half and they damn-near 2023'ed the game.

His excuse of wanting to be aggressive is just non-sensical.  The Jags are not a good team. You don't need to aggressive because there's a small margin of talent difference.  You need to be mistake free and play sound football.  You want to play conservatively because that leads to the best chance to win.

Sucks we don’t have any more draft picks tied to them. Oh well, thanks for kicking Dallas’ ass along the way.
