No way in hell the dude who has had maybe 2 legitimately good games (hurts) is an MVP candidate over the dude who is quite literally the only reason we have won a single game (barkley)

Yeah I’m not sure I’d put Hurts in the MVP conversation but he’s a QB in a big market for a team that’s 6-2. Barkley has been our best player on offense for sure.

Is that season ending? Sure seems like it

No

Albert O has been cut.  Oh the tragedy of it all.  What ever will the team do without his presence sitting on the bench?

That used to be standard practice. A smaller guy isn’t going to square up on a much bigger guy so he goes low. I did it and had it done to me and everyone I ever played with or against did it. Otherwise, it’s a collision you’re going to lose. That’s just a bad rule.

How is it different from a cut block, which is still legal, just not when a player is engaged with another player?

Never heard of a rest day for a QB

It’s rare to be sure, but they had an early bye week week and now have 2 games in 11 days coming up

He’s in the conversation because it’s become solely a QB award, which it shouldn’t be imo.

They should just rename the awards from MVP and OPoY to MVQB and MVNQB and be done with it…

The Eagles MVP for years has been Lane Johnson.  They win when he plays, they lose when he doesn't.

97-59 when he plays-

14-23 when he doesn't.

It is so much nicer debating whether or not Hurts is an mvp candidate rather than trying to figure out when is the earliest we can get out of his contract.

I would suggest that it is different from a cut block in terms of momentum.  Cut blocks are ok at the LOS when plays are just starting.  The linemen aren't moving at top speed, so the force of impact is much less likely to cause injury.

Wasn’t Johnson at the LOS? I thought he pulled from left to right and was crossing the LOS when he was cut. I could well be wrong.

Who is our LT if Fred doesn’t go? And who is that guy’s backup?

Driscoll and then Steen I’d guess

He was at the goal line about 20 yards from the LOS

Not crazy about the logo on the helmet but overall looks good

Panthers are a weird team. Draft this guy in the 4th, two years later make Miles Sanders one of the higher paid RB's, then next year spend a high second round pick on Brooks, just to give a 4 year extension to the guy you had from the beginning.

I’d like to see what it looks like for just the last four weeks.

Great question.   The issue is that by putting the rule in place, big players don't have to 'protect their knees' and so now when it happens, they are more likely to get hurt, because they aren't used to dealing with it.

Through week 5 (BC - Before Cooper), the Eagles' defense was 20th in Success Rate and 28th in EPA/Play.

After week 5 (AC - After Cooper), the Eagles' defense is 1st in Success Rate and 3rd in EPA/Play.

Success Rate measures the consistency of a team’s performance on a play-by-play basis. Relative to a measure like EPA, success rate is at times useful for obtaining a measure that isn’t as prone to outliers. However, because success rate treats slightly successful plays the same as highly successful plays, it is not well-suited to capturing the benefit of explosive plays or harmful turnovers.

EPA (Expected Points Added) factors in explosive plays and turnovers by determining the play's impact to the likelihood of scoring relative the expectation before the play is run.
