When was the last time a Qb had 5 ints and won a game?

Good call

The Texans lost this game when CJ Stroud messed up a wide open play to Tank Dell. He floated the ball up there instead of firing it in and that would've put them back up 17 and the game would've been over.

And this game just reaffirms that Goff is a system QB made by Ben Johnson's offense and a good OL. He's not good. If he played for a bunch of other teams he'd suck.

I get cj stroud is down Collins and diggs, but he’s been pretty bad the last 4 weeks. He’s completing 54% of his passes, 2 tds and 2 ints. Averaging 199 yards passing and a QB rating of 70.4

You could see what was happening. When CJ Stroud missed an open receiver in the end zone that would’ve been a touchdown that is when the game turned. You cannot miss that. If you just throw a decent pass, it’s a touchdown. The lions have way too many playmakers if it is a 16 point game with 2 quarters left. you are in trouble if you don’t keep scoring. you better keep scoring.

I’ve watched the Texans a lot this year, I think they’re very overrated. Besides the Buffalo game they’ve really beaten a bunch of bad teams: Indy x2, jags, New England and bears. Frankly besides NE those wins were super uninspiring. They haven’t looked good in a while. They were much better last year particularly stroud.

Dan Campbell's biker bar persona shtick is slowly making its way up my list of most annoying shticks in sports.

(likely even higher than that after todays game)

Then add the rushing stats - he’s easily top 5-10

Name 10 NFL Qb’s that are having a better season than Hurts.

For the Eagles to get where they need to go this season, Hurts has to emerge from his tomb to play four quarters.  Hurts might not even be in the top 6 of the Eagles 11 offensive starters.  Both turnovers today were very bad.

Kind of think the toughest road for the lions might be if they have to face the niners in the divisional round (assuming they are healthy minus aiyuk). then the eagles in the nfc championship game.

I’m Jack Daniel’s angry at the damn Texans right now.

Tbh I thought the Texans were going to take a leap this year. They were good last year and with Stroud being in year two he would make a jump. they have better talent on this team than last year. But CJ Stroud has just regressed and has gotten worse as the season has gone on. he’s making bad decisions with the ball. He’s making poor throws. He’s really just not being good the last four weeks. Maybe Collins comes back and he starts playing better again but feels like something’s off.

I think the Bills and Ravens are the best teams in the AFC. That doesn't mean they'll go to the Super Bowl since the Bills have a history of choking and Lamar has a history of coming up small in big games. But I think they are a better team than the Chiefs right now. Outside of those 3 teams though, no one in the AFC is a threat. Steelers included.

The NFC isn't as top heavy as the AFC but I think it has potential for more surprises.

Currently the nfc is 1. Lions 2. Eagles 3. Falcons 4. Cardinals 5. Vikings 6. Commanders and 7. Packers  with the niners and rams just on the outside. I don’t think the Cardinals are going to win that division, but if they do and the Niners wind up being the 6 or 7 seed, I can’t imagine you’re thrilled as the two or the three seed. I tend to think if they play the Falcons and as the 6 seed they’ll beat Atlanta. That said they’d likely go to Detroit for the divisional round unless 2 seed (eagles right now) gets upset.

i think like you said the nfc has a chance for many more surprises in the playoffs. I tend to think KC will find ways to win vs. Buffalo. They play Buffalo this week. Curious to see how both look

Lions probably end up with 3 losses looking at their schedule. Maybe 2.

The team that scares me the most in the NFC is the Niners. Probably because of how badly we got trounced by them last season. Now that McCaffrey is back, I think they’re a tougher matchup than the Lions.

And it may turn out that we need to host them in round 1.

Although the 49ers are decent, they are not the same team as last season.  Much closer to the team we beat two years ago in the playoffs, imo. (Maybe not even that good)

Yeah that was not max effort. He might be hurting.

FWIW, I thought that Brown, Smith, and Goedert all looked to be off their game today. It's pretty cool that we stomped our most hated rivals with our top three receivers all at about 85%.

Collins seems to have an AJ like impact on their offense. They don’t look like the same team without him on the field

You can't just point at stats and say "I'm right, he's great". When you watch these games you have to see his terrible pocket presence, his refusal to throw the ball away, and his mediocre arm strength. Hurts is a middling passer, it is what it is. He plays his best football when he throws around 20 passes and runs a lot. That's not a $50M quarterback, because when his running is hampered he is completely useless.

Micah Parsons throwing shade at Mike McCarthy after the game.

”Mike McCarthy can leave and go wherever he wants, but the guys I feel bad for are guys like Zach Martin ….. those type of legends who put in more time and work than Mike McCarthy ever has”

Wow.  Folks here on the EMB and in the Philly media market make a big deal when Hurts doesn’t say anything when asked about Sirianni — can you imagine if he gave an answer as classless as Parsons?

Wow did he really say that? I guess written down that sounds wise actually. Like what he’s saying is McCarthy can go and get another job in the league whereas the older guys are nearing retirement and can’t just up and leave like that.

I totally agree.  Hurts helps us win football games.

But he is prone to turning the ball over and looks lost/clumsy at times in the pocket.  Those traits could lose us football games.  Playoff games.

It is fair to point out these flaws, as long as you acknowledge how well he is doing otherwise.

My feeling watching him is that it never feels smooth or like he’s in a real rhythm. It feels like isolated big plays (which are obviously good) with some ugliness in between. It hasn’t really felt smooth and "machine like” since 2022. I’m not sure if that’s Hurts or coaching though. (Or somewhere in between)

Can't believe I woke up to a Lions win. They're going to get the #1 seed after winning some games they were outplayed in (Rams, Texans). 2 seed is now our most realistic scenario unless we go 8-0/7-1 (very unlikely). 6-2 is good enough for the #2 seed, but that requires Lions finishing 5-3 which isn't happening

Goff had 5 freakin picks.  Houston should be ashamed of losing that game.  I think we catch the Lions for the #1 Seed though they still have a favorable schedule.  They also have a lot of division games coming up.
