He's not.  Just pivoting rather than simply acknowledging.  I am not blind to Jalen's deficiencies- and I think he has a bit of Jekyll and Hyde to his game, but he is playing well right now.  He was not earlier in the season. He deserved criticism earlier as he earned it.  He deserves praise right now as he has earned it.  The script could flip, but until it does it's not difficult to see he is playing top tier QB right now.  Pretty simple.

Running the ball to keep the chains moving, while taking shots seems to be working well (at least as long as Saquon stays healthy).  BAL and PIT are fairly good against the run (as was TB/CLE previously), so that will be an interesting challenge for the QB.

Look at the year Mahomes is having right now.  I know Burrow is good, but how good is he without Chase and Higgins? Herbert is still being hyped off his first 2 seasons. Allen is essentially Hurts, but he plays more hero ball, which is something many Hurts haters don't like.  Lamar would be great here as long as he doesn't try to do too much in the playoffs and chokes again.   Baker isn't doing much of anything without Evans/Godwin. Stafford is washed. Stroud is going through a sophomore slump.

Allen is way better than hurts and it’s not close.He’s got a cannon for an arm and is doing far more with considerably less talent around him. Mahomes has no one to throw the ball to at the moment. 
The amount of talent around hurts is the best situation for any qb in this league. And we’re still hoping he doesn’t turn the ball over and manage the game. That expectation is not what you consider for elite qbs. You expect your elite qb to elevate the whole offense. We don’t expect that from hurts. It’s the opposite. We expect a game manager. At 50 mil per year, you expect a lot more. He’s never going to duplicate the success of the Super Bowl run. His best play is a qb sneak

Eberflus should’ve been fired last off-season when they made the decision to take Caleb Williams number one. should've gotten an offensive minded coach in there so that he could develop properly. And if he didn’t, at least tried to give him everything so he could. Eberflus and his coaches werent good at developing fields so not sure why they thought he’d do well with Williams. nor has he been good at picking offensive coordinators.

The underlined just made my point. And Allen has had talent around him throughout the majority of his successful seasons in Buffalo. He didn't really take off until the season Diggs got there, which was 2020.

Eberflus should have won coach of the year last year, winning 7 games with Fields at QB and a roster which just wasn't very good.  You can have a defensive head coach and draft a QB; you need to have an excellent OC and QB coach to develop the QB.  Waldron isn't very good and Kerry Joseph as QB coach?  He played in Canada for quite awhile -- and wouldn't be my choice to coach a young QB.

Who gets to be fired for drafting the wrong QB at #1?

Dak is out for the rest of the season. Guess they'll end up with a top 8 pick at this point

 

Interested to see what happens to Covey when he's able to come back.  Does DeJean no longer return punts (think he's top 3 or 4 in return average).  Does he take snaps from Dotson in the slot?  Do we use a roster spot on him?
