Well, there's a chance Gainwell leaves in free agency, so if that happens we'll need to bring in someone to replace him. But we don't have to draft Barkley's replacement  2 year before his contract would end. You are also assuming the Eagles don't work out an extension with Barkley in the future.

I would not do the latter because even though he is amazing, RBs drop off a cliff around 30.

Get his replacement now and we can bludgeon teams for the next year or 2 without worrying about an injury.

I don't really agree. The problem with RBs is most aren't so special they can't be replaced by a younger, cheaper option.

So you can’t "replace” Barkley like for like, because there’s no one like him.

But you can get a guy in the first or second who should be able to handle 25 touches per game and be a high end starter.

Milton Williams should be arrested for what he did to Tyler Biadasz on that 3rd play.  That’s a 318-pound guy and Williams pushed him down like he was a 10-year old kid in the playground

Some of the prior great CBs (like Revis and Nmandi) had breakout INT seasons before QB’s really stopped testing them.  

No one is *afraid* to throw at a rookie CB with 0 career INT.  He’s just giving them absolutely no separation or windows to target.  He’s doing this while QB’s are still trying to target him.  The famous island CBs often got ignored.

He reminds me of Gilmore in his prime, couldn't garner an interception to save his life, but his man couldn't garner a catch either.
