We're also fortunate that GB had a ton of drops and a missed kick.

They seemed better than last season, at the very least

Green Bay fans probably are saying if not for some dumb throws by Hurts or some timely third down Eagles mistakes this is a blowout.

The Eagles looked like an odd combination of last season on offense just with much better play design. With last year's coordinators, the Eagles lose that game 29-13.

I'm pleasantly surprised the LBs played well.

I'll take it.

Hurts needs to be better.

I'll give the pass rush a pass because of the field.

Need to get Dejean in there for Maddox ASAP.

Hurts was braindead on two drives, was awesome on 3 other drives, and was ok on the others. He was nails on the last drive to seal the win.

What a roller-coaster performance.

Basically what we saw for much of the first 11 games of last year.

No, you absolved Hurts by saying he’s playing in a "much more complex offense” then immediately pivoted to agreeing today was a lot of the staples from last year, which I’ve said from the start. He did not play in a much more complex offense today compared to last year.

I disagree.  There were more looks in this game than we had in any single game last season.

And I didn’t absolve Hurts.  I said he could and likely will be better once he’s more comfortable with the offense,

You mean ex-Philadelphians that became Packer fans.

Folks from the Midwest aren't as cynical.

Well, they'd be wrong. Hurts played dumb about 90% of the game tonight. This was more than a couple of dumb throws.

Very easily could've thrown at least 4/5 picks tonight

Seriously - what is it with the NFL and having crap fields in big games?  Ridiculous

Well, anyway, I can’t imagine the offense playing much sloppier than tonight. So we should improve there.

Barkley is who we thought he was.

AJ had limited opportunities but made the one that mattered count.

Smith had a fantastic game. He's just so reliable.

Goedert quietly had a good game as well.

Defense came up big early to keep us in the game.

Baun was outstanding, hopefully we have a real player with him.

Mitchell had a few PBUs and looks to be a huge upgrade with a sky high ceiling,

Looking forward to see how the season unfolds.

So for those of us who didn't get to watch. Would playing in the pre-season help this team at all?

Yes. Rusty. Mistakes.

But hey, they won

I'd rather jam Barkley up the middle than run the tush push. Unless it's inches to go.

Dean dropped a gimme pick 6, GB scored a TD 2 plays later. A 14 point swing.

That drop alone would have turned this into a PHI blowout.

Zac Baun with 11 solo tackles, 2 sacks, and he looked good doing it.  I am very happy.

Btw is it just me or did that game feel like a Packers crowd? I don't know if it was because I was too busy cheering when the Eagles made big plays and I was quiet when the Packers did, but it seemed the crowd eruptions were noticeably louder when GB did something good.

He just needs to quit making dumb decisions.  Both INTs were horrible decisions.

Hurts has a LOT to clean up, to prove, to show he learns from mistakes.

Frankly, I didn’t think either quarterback played particularly well. Then again it’s week one. So I kind of expected not greatness out of either one of them. It’s kind of a shame that this game is being played in week one. Because I feel like in week 10 if both quarterbacks are healthy, and both teams are healthy this game could’ve been even better And less sloppy

Why not fake off the tush push also

Has the makings of a special season if we can fix the mistakes

I thought the same thing. I heard what sounded like boos when the Eagles were on offense, especially in the second half.

For the stat heads...

Green Bay gained half of their yards on only five plays.

If we cut down on some of the big plays.....

A win is a win lots of good and bad to go around.

My biggest take away is Hurts almost giving this game away and the Eagles Skill players are elite.

Quick thoughts/possible overreactions:

-I was concerned about the linebackers again this season but Baun and Nakobe played great I thought. They were all over the place.

-Quinyon held his own and was impressive. That was a big spot for him to come in and he showed up

-I hate the overall Fangio philosophy

-Huff was a JAG and couldn’t have been more disappointing. The pass rush in general might be a problem

-This is no longer Jalen Hurts’ offense. He should probably be relegated to game manager and let Saquon run the offense. There’s a reason you paid him to be a top RB but they’ll never do it because of the money they invested in Hurts and the receivers

-Reed is the only playmaker/game-changer on the defense. That pick was massive

-AJ is the best receiver on this team but DeVonta continues to show up when it’s massive. I love that guy. My favorite player for the Eagles in a long time
