I was pretty surprised that the Packers didn’t do more zero blitzing early on.

Yeah, curious given how bad we were against it last year.

Jalen audibled a lot in the 1st half. Actually beat the blitz a few times.

I disliked going empty on the last drive, but at least it forces LBs to declare their intention. They DID blitz on one of the slants we threw to Devonta on the last drive.

I laughed way to hard at this

If you want to make plausible excuses I do think a sloppy field hurts DEs fwiw

I hope we didn’t lose Love for the season.

I hope so too - he is a quality talent who didn’t deserve to get hurt in desperation time.

Absolutely.  I think there was a shred of truth to it in that the Eagles were the home team and they didn’t want the Eagles wearing green, the color of their biggest rival.  But not for a safety issue or anything that scandalous.

The playing surface was a major screw up.  The nfl (and both teams) probably should have done some more research on it.  Was it the first time this exact surface was laid down?  Something specific for this game?

This is where you go full prime Belichik.  Ask them to lay down a 20’ x 20’ replica of it 2 months in advance and send some amateur, but sophisticated and trusted athletes down there with your training staff to go run on it so you start the game with the right cleats rather than changing them 2x during the game.

I don’t think there’s anything you can do about the playing surface unless you have one of those brand new billion dollar stadiums with underground field storage that can be swapped out.

Soccer fields are designed purposely to be slick. You’ll hear soccer players complaining about American fields because they aren’t slick and it effects how they can slide tackle and how the ball travels on the surface.

Theyre just two very different sports that require different fields. The only stadiums that can provide the correct field for both sports that I’m aware of are brand new soccer stadiums in Europe that were purposefully designed to be able to place the soccer grass field underground and replace it with turf fields for football.

Yep. And they had all offseason to game plan. Maybe it’s a sign of respect for Kellen Moore?

McLeod was the better player over Jenkins the entire time they were here.  Jenkins was a quasi LB who played very well in the box and was basically useless more than 10 yards downfield.

I probably shouldn’t have said overshadowed and put Jenkins got all the publicity and the media love. But  McLeod is criminally underrated by Eagles fans.

Interested to see what the Eagles do when Rodgers returns. Do they play him in the slot? Play him outside and move Mitchell inside? Stick with Maddox? Go to DeJean?

Maddox was bad tonight. Rebounded in the 2nd half a bit, but still. Rough game for him.

Jalen’s best trait, more times than not, is that he shows up when it matters most. Which is why I’ll always believe in him in crunch time. It’s every other part of the game that scares me. He’s basically the anti-Dak.

Mitchell is staying outside

That’s a brutal injury if it is. Hopefully it’s not but doesn’t look good

Agreed. Need to get DeJean up to speed.

Ok so what’s rumor on White not flying with the team?  Wasn’t Rodgers ruled out before they left and still went?  How badly is he going to melt down if Baun and Dean don’t let go of those jobs?

No Rodgers wasn't out when they left fwiw

Things I think they need to sort out:

1. Getting Hurts back to being a pocket qb.  And how much of this confidence crash may come from playing under center?

2. Barkley usage.  I know the popular opinion is to ride your horse and constantly get the ball in his hands, but think of Barkley as our 2002-2004 Westbrook.  This is your offensive weapon x.  Don’t waste his legs on too high a volume of generic plays that any rb averages 3.8-4.3 yards on.   Keep the utilization creative, diversified, and sustainable.

3. Edge / Nolan Smith usage.  For a guy who seemed to be in the dog house playing in preseason games, he sure seemed to get a lot of snaps tonight.  That’s a good thing..maybe the coaches like him more than we thought.  Now, he didn’t look good with those snaps, but that’s another story and I’ll blame turf for now.  I also got a sense that Huff isn’t going to eat as many snaps as Reddick, so that increases the importance of Smith.

4. Ringo / Dejeane usage.  It’s too early to pass any judgement on CJGJ, but the bottom line is that the Eagles had 2 full time major liabilities on the field in the secondary tonight…while Ringo and Dejeane were riding the pine.  They need to find out where these two are most comfortable and get them going.  They are too talented with too little talent in front of them to not get playing time soon.

5.  I’m not sure Hurts will have the vision to see him, but they really need someone to throw to at WR3.  The offense barely feigns attention to anyone outside their big 4 of Brown/Smith/Goedert/Barkley.  That’s going to make them really easy to lock down in zone if they know WR3 or TE2 might as well not be on the field.  Dotson is too fresh, so that’s why he wasn’t in the picture tonight.  But they need to get him up to speed.

I think I topped out at about 14MPH ten years ago when the town had one of those speed detectors sitting in the neighborhood. I hauled my 50-something year old ass to the street and tested to see how fast I could run. It was not good.

Rumblings of ACL tear for Love on Twitter. Praying it’s at most a high ankle or hyperextension. Hard to tell.

Didn’t look like he twisted it completely - hopefully just a sprain at worst - (4-6 week recovery time vs season ending for a complete tear)

Looked like a high ankle sprain to me for Love, not a knee issue.
