I think I topped out at about 14MPH ten years ago when the town had one of those speed detectors sitting in the neighborhood. I hauled my 50-something year old ass to the street and tested to see how fast I could run. It was not good.

Like Blaine Bishop chasing Joe Jurevicius.

I’m just glad to see him under center for a few snaps. 😂

I give Hurts credit for a really good throw there.  Key is to get the ball there before the safety can get involved

I was going to post that AJ looks a lot faster out there this year after that play.

On a side note - that was an absolute dime pass by Hurts - perfect location, hitting him in stride.

Why does Hurts look fast in practice and slow in games

Yeah I was really surprised Alexander couldn't catch him.  He still didn't look fast.  Don't know when Alexander got slow.

I wouldn’t judge it by tonight.  Green Bay was all over the RPO - pretty sure they were also spying Hurts on any play that looked like he could take off on - they weren’t going to let him run for 150+ on them again.

Really? I‘ll have to watch again I guess but he seems to be just as slow as last year

I know someone thought it was his ankle but this makes me think it’s more of his knee.

Did Dotson even get a target tonight?

I have not re-watched the game yet. But I feel like there are a lot of reasons to be optimistic.

First, the field was absolute trash and should not be considered acceptable as an NFL standard unless game time weather affected it. Watching a season opening game that included 8 lead changes where the energy of the crowd was about exhilarating as the 2020 covid cardboard cutouts, is not good marketing. What makes the NFL a great product is the dedication of the fans ... and putting a game in some 3rd world market where most real fans can't reasonably travel to is an insult.

Despite being the "home team" it was clear from the whistling that the Eagles weren't the beneficiary of a home crowd.

So we played the opener in front of an interloper crowd on a pitiful field surface against a highly regarded opponent and came away with a win. I'll always disagree with our team's preseason approach, but the mistakes weren't all that surprising for team that doesn't believe in preparing for a season buy introducing risk to that preparation. With that said ... I thought we saw some promising things from our ILBs and DBs, both of which gave us issues last season. I thought CJGJ had a bad night, but kind of feel the footing issues affected him mentally and he was slower to react. As a safety he needs to lower his missed tackle percentage. I think we'll see a different result on a good playing surface. I thought our pass rushers were held  way too often, so I'm not overly concerned about their production yet. On offense, Hurts needs to reduce the big mistakes. I like that he trusts his guys, but even a guy as good as Brown can slip and then that 50/50 ball you threw becomes an INT in the endzone in a situation where a FG would have put you up by 8 points. A 5th year QB shouldn't make that mistake in that situation, throwing back across his body into coverage. I'm not overly concerned about the snap-fumble issues --- I expect those will get corrected the more Hurts and Jurgens play together. Barkley is a weapon  that will quickly make things easier for everybody else.

Some additional dialogue

$12 million for a "27 yearold RB”.

Errr - you mean the age that most elite RB’s are in their prime in?  lol

(And given the way Saquon is built and the shape he is in…wow, what a crazy comment)

I can’t believe they put that out there knowing they were being filmed for a show.

I think he was targeted on that terrible throw that was almost a pick 6 right before Hurts threw the INT in the end zone

Yeah the play right before the second hurts int where it was nearly picked.

The dude was having problems with his calves the entire 2nd half. Is it so hard to believe they just quit on him on that last play of his?

For their circumstances the discussion was valid …. but I’d have loved to have been there for the discussion in favor of extending and paying Daniel Jones.

Don’t calfs have some sort of correlation with Achilles injuries?

Based off watching videos it looks like his knee shifts and pops. I kind of also think if it were that the packers would’ve already said it.

Lol

That's probably why they haven't fully confirmed anything yet. But if you watch that video, it looks like a guy reaching his calves on both legs. he wasn't limping on just one leg. It's obvious it's both and that is what we saw them massaging during the 2nd half.

I don't expect it to be a major injury.
