Always believed he'd be a great backup QB someday. He's what the Eagles want Kenny Pickett to be.

But yeah, what an idiotic contract. One humiliation after the next for the Giants. Mara has lost it, Schoen is a goof, and Daboll has overseen the team getting significantly worse.

Can you be certain that he wouldn't do the same thing to the Eagles that he's doing to the Jets? I don't put any faith in "hometown discount". Reddick is clearly in it for the Benjamins and I don't blame him but he should check with LeVeon Bell about what's smart and what's not.

Would need to finally pay him. Howie kicked the can twice on him already

No, because we have to give Parsons a record contract next season.

The way I look at it, week 16 last year should be the full offense available and the team should be firing on all cylinders at that point but we still see Smith being lined up in basically the same spot. Its only week 1 this season and we are already seeing Smith being utilized in multiple spots in different formations. Kellen Moore already knows how to utilize Smith better than the coaching staff last year did, and this is something to build on.

It’s a cherry picked comparison by a Twitter dork who pays for a blue checkmark. He purposely picked the one chart because it looked bad. Look at any of his other 2023 charts

The search I put in was for missed tackles.  I noticed he had 11 on that site but 15 total tackles.  Guess that site is only for Solo tackles.  Welp I guess we will never know

Schoen is going down with the ship cause of the investment. They never should’ve given him that contract. He was never good enough to get you where you needed to go.

Mara should just clean house after the season cause they are gonna finish with a top pick. Frankly i think that was happening unless the giants were surprisingly good. Watching the hard knocks series i think he was less than thrilled about a bunch of things. Let whoever takes over come in either use that pick to fix the roster and eventually get a QB or use it on the Qb he loves in the draft.

Jones is like the NFL version of the Tijuan Walker contract... GM dies on the hill no matter how bad he is

What should he have given him? Whoever is next up always seems to become the next highest paid QB. I agree he shouldn't have been given that big of a contract but what do you do when the market for QBs is so high?

It's not like they lost Chubb at the end of last season.  He got injured in week 2 last year and the Browns went onto go 11-6 with wins over the Texans, Ravens, 49ers, Jags, Steelers and Rams.

Who was the hot QB at that time?

Trade him/let him walk

Flacco is a guy that has proven a team doesn’t have to have an elite qb to win it all…very good to great defense, a decent running game, good kicker, take care of the rock.

And get dusted in the playoffs by elite QBs.

Thinking no worse than 5-1 going into the Bengals game.

Should be favored in the next five games.  Maybe a slip up at TB or NO.

Random thoughts on Friday night, in no particular order:

- Hurts: it was a very weird performance. There was a lot of good, especially against the blitz. The TD throw to Saquon was fantastic. He worked the middle of the field better, and when he was confident with his decisions, he was on point. But then there were basically 3 plays that were beyond awful. The 1st pick -- I kind of get what he was seeing as the DB had his back turned, but if you're going to try and give Smitty a chance there, you need to throw it on a line. The pressure maybe made him put more air under it, letting McKinney get there. But just a bad idea. The almost pick on the fake screen -- I have no clue WTF he was thinking. You need to throw that away and admit the defense won. The pick in the end zone, he clearly didn't see Alexander. But both times, he was trying to be a hero instead of simply throwing it away and taking the FG. Moore needs to pound situational awareness into his head; a FG to go up 8 there means you can't lose on one score. I'd give him a B-/C+ for the game, and the 4 minute drive was fantastic.

- Speaking of the 4 minute drive -- that was the kind of drive we pulled off all the time in 2022 and never in 2023. You need to end in a TD, but the fumbled snap on the brotherly shove is an unfortunate one off. I did think the BS was less effective, and I wanted to give it to Barkley there. But that drive looked like the 2022 Eagles -- methodical and inevitable.

- The OL looked great. Now, some of that may be from the field, but Jurgens (other than the bad snap) and Becton were really solid. The concern level over RG dropped tremendously, and it looks like it will be an actual strength of the team. Interested to see the line play on a real field against Judon and Atlanta, but GB is a solid pass rush and were basically neutralized.

- AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith are really freaking good. And Moore played to their strengths. Nice to see slants in the offense again.

- Honestly, the Packers rushing total for the game surprised me, as I thought we played the run better than that. They had one drive where they ran it down our throats (their 1st TD drive), but there were a lot of plays where we stuffed the run. Davis and Carter played well, IMO.

- Moro Ojomo needs more snaps. Guy has really developed.

- The play by the edge rushers was concerning, but the field didn't help. Still, BG and NS having more snaps than Huff is...concerning. I thought Sweat, BG and NS all played well given the conditions.

- Q should be the #2 outside corner all year. Get DeJean ready to play the slot. Fantastic debut for the rookie.

- We have actual pro linebackers, which is nice. Baun won't be that great every week, but Dean flashed as well. Devin White can stay on the bench/injury report.

- The red zone defense was really strong

All in all, we won a game that most of the "experts" said we would lose. I'm sure now they will all pivot and dump GB as their SB picks, but given the situation -- crap field, terrible start, international game (where the crowd was Packers heavy) -- it was a quality win. My one really dumb takeaway -- the team actually seemed happy and pleased after the game. Last year we'd win a game like this and Jalen, AJ, Smitty, etc. would all look like they just left a funeral. They all seemed to be enjoying the game this year. Maybe the pressure of the SB hangover was more than we knew last year.

lol

I'm not sure what to make out of Jordan Davis for the Packers game. He stood out on the very first play and more in the beginning but then kind disappeared. If he's not going to show up on the stat sheet then you would hope the rush defense was good. Even taking out Jayden Reeds 33 yard rush the Packers were averaging 6.5 YPC.

One more post on the game -- it's amazing we won despite really trying to give the game away

- Turnovers in our own end of the field on our first 2 possessions, but defense hold them to 6 points

- Dean drops a pick 6, 70 yard TD by Green Bay on the next play (14 point swing)

- Hurts throws a pick in the end zone when we could have gone up 8 or 12

- Fumbled snap on BS that could have put us up 9

We basically left 14 points on the field (Dean drop, Hurts INT, BS snap leads to FG instead of TD) and gifted them 7 (play after Dean drop). A 21 point potential total swing, and we still won by 5. I know this is somewhat unfair, but to have all that and still win is very impressive.

Just moved on. Didn’t have to pay him at all. Let someone else make that mistake. Tbh this reminds me of the whole message board conversation about Sam Bradford after the 2015 season and everyone wanted him back as the starter cause of his last couple games. But you knew you were never going to win a SB with him and it’s just spinning your tires in the mud until you found that guy. Now the Eagles were fortunate the Vikings had the injury to Teddy Bridgewater so they were able to get compensation back for him. Ibut the eagles also realized Bradford wasn’t the long term guy anyway. It’s why they went all in on wentz.

just cause you made the playoffs didn’t mean you had to bring Jones back. That gave you some more time and good will with the fans. To me the most damning thing about Daniel Jones was the fact they played the number one seed. And they looked awful. That’s the team you were going to have to be to ever get where you wanted to go. That should’ve been an indicator to you that he is not the long-term guy and you might be better off taking a couple steps back to get to where you wanna go.

The thing that bothers me with the giant was their evaluation of Jones was always well if we get all these things around him then he’ll be the guy. Yes you want to put the best team around him but it feels like a we hope he’s good enough if we do those things then he’d make a big jump. Frankly thought the giants got fortunate with scheduling in 2022 and Minnesota being vastly overrated. They were 2-6 vs. teams with winning records.

I was baffled when looking at the box score. It felt like Carter and Davis were getting good penetration all night, yet GB piled up the rushing yards. Part of it was the field and sloppy tackling. I think the run defense is the biggest question I want answered in week 2.

Nothing.  Let him walk and draft their next QB.

Except for that one year he happened to be a SB MVP & SB Champion.

Honestly, the move was to franchise tag Jones and get a deal done with Barkley. And if you couldn't get a deal with Barkley...you live with it if he walks. Instead they tagged Barkley, kept him one year, and then lost him anyway, but crippled the cap with Jones for 2.5 years.
