Is he going to play week 1? Didn't know there was a hold out and hold in lol

Thought wanting a new contract and refusing to participate was holding out

TBD on week 1. Even the Bengals don't seem to know. I'd be shocked if he missed a game check.

I travel to Tokyo and the Middle East routinely for work. Long flights suck but honestly the way these guys travel, business class/charter, it’s really not that bad. Hydrate, sleep, they’ll be ok. Notably Brazil isn’t far off as far as time zones. They’ll be fine.

I'm assuming they will fly direct, have very comfortable chairs, nutrition, won't have to go through security or get up at 4:30 am to get to the airport, and have lots of space to walk around on the flight if they need it. They should be fine.

Imagine Jordan Davis on a commercial coach flight 😳

The biggest key to long flights is hydration. I'm sure this will get me booed mercilessly, but the dumbest thing you can do when flying is to drink alcohol. I'm sure they will be giving the guys water and electrolytes.

You are spot on. People don't realize that, but it's important.

He would have to lay down in the aisle.

For me on flights it is simple -- no alcohol, no sleeping, lots of water (and maybe a soda), and aisle seat because I will be peeing a lot. Unless it is a redeye (which I haven't taken in years), I force myself not to sleep (this doesn't apply when flying home from Vegas). Sleep on a plane isn't real sleep, even with a lay flat seat. Get to the hotel and fall asleep in a real bed.

Agreed. And I think it’s more the huge time zone/circadian rhythm swing that gets you than the actual travel. And not to be a travel nerd but the newer planes with lower cabin altitudes and higher humidity help a ton too.

I’m a non drinker, so this would be easy for me to follow. I just saw an opening to use that gif, so I took it.

Brazil is only an hour ahead of EST.

Reddick looks like he will

Chase is on his rookie deal and hasn't made the money Reddick has in his career. It's why Trent Williams threat was real about missing games. Reddick has made over $50mm in his career, Chase is at ~$25mm. Trent was like ~$150mm.

I still prefer they just let college have Labor Day weekend.

The NFL will do what it thinks is best to increase their own bottom line and they will give very very little consideration to the NCAA or HS levels, as evidenced by the Eagles-Packers game on Friday night, which is historically HS football night.  The NFL is only ever worried about the NFL.  So, expect them to trample over anyone and everyone in their move to expand to 18 games.

I thought Goodell said at one point he wouldn't ruin Friday night because of HS football.

Sounds like per Zangaro that Covey is the new Greg Ward/Boston Scott of the locker room:

For the last two seasons, Britain Covey has been a popular guy in the Eagles’ locker room and in the receiver meeting room. Part of his role is to lighten the mood and he does that with aplomb.

Star receiver DeVonta Smith recently handed out a big compliment to Covey.

"He’s the light of the room,” Smith said. "In the room, he’s always the guy keeping the spirits up, no matter if anybody is having a bad day, he’s going to be the guy to make sure that everybody in the room is having fun. Whoever it is who may be down a day, he doesn’t continue to let them feel that way.”

From the outside, Smith and Covey are very different. One was a Heisman Trophy winner and early first-round pick. The other was an undrafted rookie a few years ago and finally made the 53-man roster out of training camp for the first time in 2024.

But Smith and Covey are close. Aside from both being fathers to young children, they’re two of the smallest players on the team. They joke about that a lot.

"He probably weighs a little more than me so I consider myself the smallest guy,” Smith said.

The fact that Covey weighs more than Devonta Smith is crazy to me.

There was a recent video by the eagles on youtube which followed Smith as he showed and talked about his workouts. He was an exercise science major. The fact that he is not big is on purpose. He has the know how. In the video talked about not even wanting a big upper body.

They chartered a plane and are flying a day flight which you can do to Sao Paolo, unlike further south destinations like BA. With no overnight flight and only a one hour time difference, they should have minimal jet lag. I’m sure the NFL though of this - easier than flying to London or rest of Europe.

I think they are actually two hours ahead of EST. But Brazil doesn’t change their clocks for Daylight Saving Time since they are close enough to the equator that there isn’t much benefit to it. But since we switched to EDT, it is NOW a one hour time difference.

It’s not like the NFL hasn’t played on Labor Day weekend before. The opener in ‘97 was actually in August as I recall. They played the Giants at the Meadowlands with Rodney Peete starting and lost. I was in Florida at the time and had to watch at a sports bar. Horrible game. I think that was the weekend Princess Di was killed.

Some of Delta's first-class "lay flat" pods are built for hobbits. They are angled at the end, so one foot can't stretch out. Even with earplugs, I don't sleep soundly enough not to wake up because people are noisy and stomp around like elephants. I sleep for 20 minutes and wake up groggy, so I don't try to sleep anymore, either.

Screw flying coach on any long flights, though. I walked to the back on a redeye to see if a friend wanted some snacks, and they were packed in like cattle. 3-3-3 layout of legs and torsos hanging in the aisle trying to sleep, kids crying, tired moms looking like death. Now I know why they shut the curtain.

Sorry if posted, I've been busy.

Sounds like Fangio doesn't like not playing starters in preseason. He was asked yesterday about Jordan Davis' conditioning, and Jalen Carter's development and to both he said ask again after the game because they have only practiced, and he said practice reps aren't the same as preseason game reps which they didn't get.

He also noted that when preparing for the Packers offense they run a lot of play action...and he said they didn't see that much in practice from the offense.

I mean, I'm not tall by any means, and even I find the pods uncomfortable. And it's just never high quality sleep. I just watch a movie or do work.

Shanahan and Lynch on the hot seat...this guy seems to be a legit reporter.
