So, here's my take on the White thing. Reports did seem to indicate that, after the open practice, Dean started playing much better and was at the very least going to be in a rotation with White and Baun. Then Burks came back and did look good in the 3rd preseason game. I wouldn't be shocked if Nick and Vic told White he was going to be the 3rd linebacker and Dean had passed him, and White threw a fit. While White was getting 1st team reps, there really weren't reports of him standing out during camp.

LB is clearly the weakest spot on the team. If we know White can't get it done, then let's see if Dean can be what he hoped for when he was drafted. I suspect we see Burks on the field a good bit too.

I'm guessing nostalgia. Wawa's hoagies aren't anything special, but if I'm in Florida, I'm stopping to get one. The same goes for Tastykakes since they were bought and the quality went down.

Wait -- Tastykakes aren't as good anymore? I was going to try and get some for Friday. Couple places in LA have them.

So why did the Eagles Director of Marketing tweet a response to the news story about the guy covering up the ad ny saying it's a crime to cover up and vandalize an ad, and then delete the tweet once people figured out who he was?

Well, maybe because it is a crime.

Have you ever heard the old saying that even bad publicity gets attention.

Well, the city confirmed it was break ins to place the posters and the company that handles the payment for ads said that the Eagles weren't customers for them, so regardless of whether Poorya Nayerahmadi said something about it on x, the actual evidence supports that the team had nothing to do with it, let it go, it's not important in the least.

Ah it was an admin staffer not the Marketing Director who made the comment, but his point wasn't wrong, both acts were a form of vandalism.

I still think Dean can be legit good starter caliber. I expect him to be better under Fangio, especially if he's paired with a guy who compliments his skills. *If healthy* will always be key

"Nakobe, your skills are awesome!!!” That’s a pretty good compliment, I guess.

Apparently Brazil ditched the fines for using VPN for Twitter so wonder if we'll see people on it Friday night using VPNs. Or if they'll just be able to use their apps anyway. Not sure exactly how the ban worked. Did they somehow block it via their cell towers or did they just get the app removed from Brazilian app stores.

They definitely aren’t as good as they were thirty years ago. Also the sizes have gotten a lot smaller.

Think VanSumeran's development is a real problem for White, similar athleticism but a lot more upside (and can contribute on STs).

And cheaper.

Back in HS when I could eat junk food with no repercussions, I'd buy a pack of butterscotch krimpets at least 3 times a week in the school cafeteria.

I doubt that. The NFL has a symbiotic relationship with college and indirectly with HS football as that is the pipeline for developing potential entertainers. Couple that with a Congress that controls their limited antitrust exemptions.  They are already facing political battles regarding stadium funding and moves.  There are a bunch of states with no teams. (Unlike baseball that has a much broader antitrust exemption and minor league teams all over the place).  Thus they need to appease the representative from the states and even districts without teams. Those same representatives aren’t going to turn a blind eye to what their constituents want for the NFL.  NFL will push the envelope but they won’t bite the hand that feeds them. Take Nebraska. No NFL team but
Lincoln on Saturday…. Or even Texas with two teams but a long way from San Antonio or Austin and even further for Mojo on Friday nights.  And the first two weeks of college football, especially Labor Day weekend, is when the Little Sisters of the Mercy make the bucks playing bigger schools on TV (which also helps recruiting). Mess with their revenue for 32 billionaires?  That’s plain stupid.

Yes, Congress does control their limited anti-trust exemptions.  Congress' Sports Broadcast Act, signed in 1961, amended in 1966 (to accommodate the NFL-AFL merger).

The first sentence of section 1291 of this title shall not apply to any joint agreement described in such section which permits the telecasting of all or a substantial part of any professional football game on any Friday after six o'clock postmeridian or on any Saturday during the period beginning on the second Friday in September and ending on the second Saturday in December in any year from any telecasting station located within seventy-five miles of the game site of any intercollegiate or interscholastic football contest scheduled to be played on such a date if—

(1) such intercollegiate football contest is between institutions of higher learning both of which confer degrees upon students following completion of sufficient credit hours to equal a four-year course, or

(2) in the case of an interscholastic football contest, such contest is between secondary schools, both of which are accredited or certified under the laws of the State or States in which they are situated and offer courses continuing through the twelfth grade of the standard school curriculum, or the equivalent, and

(3) such intercollegiate or interscholastic football contest and such game site were announced through publication in a newspaper of general circulation prior to August 1 of such year as being regularly scheduled for such day and place.

This is the first Friday of September, so the NFL is doing it... because they can.   But, the heart of that particular law is to not infringe on HS (or collegiate) sports... and yet, there will be lots and lots of HS football games played that night all over the country and would be in violation of this Act were the dates of the law not outlined.   So, is it really the NFL looking out for HS football, or is it the NFL expanding their schedule calendar as broadly as possible without being in violation of the statute referenced above?   And those high school games, whether between the weak sisters of the poor or whomever, are still huge revenue generators for the schools and boosters of the home teams.  In my area, how many fringe HS fans are going to stay home to watch the Eagles play, rather than go to their local HS game that same night?  How much money will the high schools lose out on their ticket sales and how much money will the clubs lose that run the concession stands and other fundraisers at the game?

The NFL is looking out for the NFL, and it really is turning its nose up at the fans.  Because not only is it a game on a Friday Night, it is also a game on a separate subscription service that will cost some folks money in order to watch that they might not have been expecting to spend otherwise.   This is a money grab... both in the short term and the long term by the NFL.  And its just the latest.

It depends on which one you get. The Krimpets and Tandy Kakes are close to where they were, but they have mostly gone downhill since they were bought. A guy from North Philly came up to me in Homestead, FL, because he saw my Phillies hat and arms full of Tasktykakes and said, "Just to warn you, they have turned to crap now." I still buy them for nostalgia, though.

Friday is my cheat meal, so definitely going cheesesteak for the game. We have a Rita's out here which is damn good too.

Is Rita's still the same out there?

It's been a LONG time since I had it in Philly, but the one out here tastes awesome and I think it's the same thing I had as a kid. Water ice, concretes, custard -- so good.

EDIT: Same company - https://www.ritasice.com/location/ritas-of-west-la-ca/. They have Capriotti's out here too, but it's not nearly the same.

It's clearly an organizational philosophy that has been present since Doug.  Howie clearly has a lot of say in things like this as later revealed by Doug.

Why give him a guaranteed 3.5 mil then, makes no sense. Unless Howie and his pro football evaluators are that f'n bad, which is very concerning then.

They haven't been able to identify good LBs for years.  This isn't new.   It's a clear blindspot.   Its one thing to not prioritize the position, and its another thing altogether to whiff time after time.

If you get away from Tastykakes for a while and then try one the fake artificial flavor really stands out. All store bought cakes have that to varying degrees, but in terms of quality, Entenmann's crushes them.

Leaving at 10 a.m. and getting in at 9 p.m. (Philly time) seems long, so they must be stopping somewhere.

LATAM has nonstop flights out of JFK, that's going to be within a few minutes of out of PHL. 9 hrs. 35 minutes nonstop. Sao Paulo is 1 hour ahead of Philly until the time change according to timeanddate.com.
