A game like tonight's will either pi$$ them off and make them play better or it might snowball into the team losing confidence if they lose to the Saints and Bucs.

Gotta hope this loss lights a fire under them.

I know but Atlanta should not have been able to drive down the field like that so easily.  It's embarrassing.

I think a high school DC could have played the defense better in that situation.

I agree, but again, regardless of why Hurts was put into that situation and the fact that he shouldn't have been in it, that's why you pay a "franchise" QB 50 million dollars.

He didn't learn anything from Seattle last year. Don't risk a long pass when they only need to get to the 40 or so for one of the best kickers in the game to win it for them. Don't play hero ball. Get the damn job done and move the chains with the TO in the pocket. More blame to be thrown around? Sure, but he didn't get the job done when it mattered and did something stupid instead. That is a much bigger issue to me than the D or the HC because you can get another coordinator in the offseason and a new coach. Hurts isn't the guy and they are stuck with him for another year past this because of that contract without a good option to replace him.

I realized after the last two games of nonsense that I'm just not over last year. I'm still exhausted.

Pass rush solved

I've been wanting them to draft a defensive end high for years.

Relying on Smith & Huff for pass rush isn't it.

You saw how they responded to adversity last year after the niners punched them in the mouth… their response will be telling

So far this current team making games not enjoyable to watch, just more 2023 frustration.

He threw a good swing pass. Great, making 50 million a year that should be a given that he hits him in the hands from that close. The fact he went for hero ball vs moving the chains and getting to their 40 is the issue. Doesn't matter if we've seen it he shouldn't have been throwing that. It's Seattle 2.0.

It wasn't a hero ball.  He saw a pass he know he could complete to a Wr who he trusts.  Dickerson is who you should be mad at but the QB gets all the blame.  If he gets even a hand on him that is a completed pass or at the very least not intercepted.

So fangio the genius wasn’t brought in to get more out of guys? That’s bs if we say he wasn’t brought here to that. People said oh fangio is coming in we can get more out of these guys than we did with Desai. You’re getting about the same. I’d argue fangio has better overall talent besides Reddick than Desai had last year. Yet another the same result.

I’m not gonna argue with you that they need better personnel. I said that last year and got blasted for it. However, if you’re gonna bring the Godfather of the defense and the genius behind Scheme and he still can’t get more out of less that is a problem with scheme and personnel

It’s a two-game sample size. I’m not happy about how we’ve played. I thought we could maybe get to league average defensively. Of course, that was with the expectation that Carter would be damn good and Sweat and Huff would be satisfactory edge rushers. On the other hand, Mitchell is playing better than your typical rookie corner, but he gave up a couple of killer catches on the final drive.

Did it ever come out why Carter didn’t start?

Specially mentioned stunts and twists.  My point exactly. No pass rush plan

Fangio‘s attitude with the players will wear thin eventually considering he doesn’t pull any punches in regards to calling guys out. He’s already basically done it with Huff. Same thing happened in Miami last season. Players eventually hated him.

Well Slay said he effed up. WTH can Huff say?

This might be a little revisionist history because I was relatively happy with the hiring of Fangio, but I remember before Fangio was hired and the Eagles had fired Desai and Patricia, virtually everyone was in agreement that they're so over the Fangio defense and want a fresh philosophy and fresh set of eyes in that building.

I'm not even trying to say Fangio was a bad hire. He knows defenses, he's coached them for a long time. But I guess, like everything else they did in the offseason, it felt like there was very little creativity with anything they did during the offseason. It had the feel of an offseason that was just kinda thrown together on a whim without any real plan or philosophical guide. All the way down to keeping the head coach, but stripping him of almost all power.

I look at it this way people crap all over Desai for what the defense looked like last year. meanwhile you brought in the master of the scheme. The same issues are there and guys who were here last year look about the same.

We can say yes personnel needs to be better. I don’t disagree. It’s been that way since last year. We also brought in the master of this scheme and ONE of the reason you brought him was to make guys already on this roster better with the personnel additions (that i don’t believe he had zero input on).

you and I have had this conversation before. A great defensive coordinator gets more out of less. We both have said that and agreed on it in the past. No offense i don’t see fangio doing that right now. Frankly, I didn’t think the personnel was all that great after the moves they made in the off-season. Personnel needs to be better. You want to consider someone a great DC then get more out of less. Don’t tell me the personnel was the problem. It was with Desai too. He didn’t get those excuses

That his damn DC doesn't know how to scheme a pass rush.    Rush Carter to the outside and stunt the faster Huff inside.  Mix it up.  Just 4 dudes rushing upheld against 5 guys.  Unless you have someone who can beat one on ones like cough cough Reddick, you don't have much of a chance of getting pressure

I'm home.  And this is looking like an 8-9 or 9-8 team.

Atlanta picked up the "pass rush” and blitzes pretty well…other than plays that were flagged. All in all, based off of personnel and where certain individuals are at in this stage of learning, I think it’s clear he wants to put more emphasis on rz defense. In which case players were in position to prevent scoring…and they did not.

Let’s be real, theylll say the right stufff all week, some people will talk themselves into them going into NO and winning Sunday. Then come Sunday they’ll get absolutely boat raced and it’ll be back to reality. Not to react to one game, but I just don’t feel good about this season through two games. Can’t shake how I feel, they look no different than last year.

I don't know what game you were watching but I didn't see much of anything from the front in terms of stunts/twists/games up front.  They zero blitzed one time and got burned by CGJG looking into the backfield instead of doing his damn job.  Fangio needs to figure out the pass rush cuz this isn't it.

🤔the one where Atlanta picked up the "pass rush” and blitz pretty well
