New nicknames for this DL?

'Sackless' is my vote.

It has two meanings.

If I'm Fangio, I'm saying screw what Howie thinks and screw what some of the players think. Play Booker. Get Hunt on the field. Tell Carter if he can't give you 40 good snaps to get on the damn treadmill until he can. Same with Davis. Sit Huff's ass down. Start a damn practice squader at Edge if he's better than the crap we've been putting on the field.

I’d add dressing White for games and maybe seeing is he’s even 10% better than Dean. To be fair to Nakobe I didn’t watch him closely so he may have been one of the shinier turds last night.

Seems like the Huff problem isn't overly complicated. Get-off the only elite part of his game. You disrupt that, you shut him down completely. GB and Atlanta chipped him and he had no answer. As an ace pass rusher or full time player, I think he has no chance.

Huff has numerous counters. But all of his moves from his elite first step on his speed rush, to any of his counters all rely on his quickness. When his first job is to engage square with an OL or TE so he can peak over either shoulder to fill either gap if a run play comes, and then ask him to try to begin his pass rush from basically a stand still with someone's hands on him... its just not going to be possible for him. Hes not a fit for this system.

2nd year in a row they raved about either his conditioning or weight loss. 3rd year in a row he’s nothing more than a role player you can grab in the 5th of seemingly any draft. I get the gamble on his athleticism I guess but it’s time to let the other guys take his snaps.

He was hitting the oxygen mask on the sideline after the first drive when the camera cut over to the bench.

Gd damn. Dude needs to be benched. Absolutely useless.

Unfortunately both Davis and Carter are showing some truth to there draft stock.

Carter- Cons, Takes plays off, needs motivation,  shows signs of laziness. All showed true in the last 2 weeks.

Davis- Cons, Run stuffer, needs to develop pass rush skills but may not be a everydown lineman due to lack of rush skills and work ethic.

I don’t know if it makes any difference as far as wins/losses, but I am glad they’re back to 1pm slate games the next month. Enough of the international/pimetime slots for now. It was chaotic last season, it was chaotic week one, maybe it can help settle them down a little bit. It was overload.

Missed that. He’s gonna have a bad time in Tampa at 1:00PM

Davis should be a healthy scratch until he hits certain conditioning metrics.

Howie does a great job with the cap, but he’s an absolute draft pendulum.

We go with a rash of under explosive high motor edges, culminating with Derek Barnett, who ran a 40 and had workout numbers that were truly woefully inadequate for the position.

Then we draft Davis and Smith solely for their 40’s and workouts.

Same parallels and pendulum drafting wideouts.

He will occasionally get it right and does a nice job moving about the draft, but Howie is to drafting what Jalen Hurts is to passing.  It’s not their natural strong suit, lots of evidence showing their inadequacies, and every time they get it right it just stands out so much because we aren’t particularly used to it.

They wouldn't even put him on the field for the 4th and 1 where CJGJ made the tackle.  That was the biggest play of the game to that point and their 360+ pound run stuffer was sitting on the bench.

I wouldn't be surprised if Davis puts in effort towards his conditioning.  He may just be one of those guys where his huge body will only allow so much.  Once again it shows you shouldn't draft a part-time college player high in the draft.

That’s really damning that he wasn’t on the field for that play.  That one play is his entire purpose on this team.

Never mind, put him on the field for 100% of the snaps. Punish him.

Or screw it, let's see what Jalyx Hunt has. Bring back Patrick Johnson as well. At least we'll see effort.

On 1st down, roll with Davis (he's the only nose tackle), Carter, Williams, Ojomo and either Huff/Hunt/Sweat/BG. Gannon used a lot of the 5 down looks to stop the run and it worked. We're getting gashed while sitting in nickel all day.

EDIT: Hell, put Booker out there and have Williams and Ojomo pay the edge.

Play all the backups in the front 7. Hunt, Booker, Ojomo, VanSumeran, etc. At least we will see heart and effort. I honestly don’t think it could be worse than the abysmal garbage I watched live last night.

Add to that, Davis is Carter's accountability buddy and what do you get?

What kind of routes does Moore have Goedert running?  He’s playing 90% of the snaps, yet not getting enough targets

We lucked in to DeVonta Smith but had to give our division rival one of the best defensive players in the NFL to get him. Imagine if he hits on WR the previous two drafts and was in position to actually draft Parsons rather than pass on him.

Coaching staff had plenty of time to work on his conditioning.
