Howie/Lurie will do everything they can to salvage the Hurts situation in order to avoid having back-to-back mega deal QBs flame out. They will choose Hurts over Sirianni if it came down to it 100 times out of 100.

Yep. Even before they wanted to keep Wentz and try to make it work after Doug. Wentz was the one that chose out. Everything I heard was the FO pitch to the new coaches was Wentz would be their QB.

Curious if anyone else is in this same boat.

If this season gets to a point where it's obvious to everyone this year isn't gonna be it. Say they are like 1-4 or 2-5. At that point I'm gonna be rooting for losses. For higher draft pick and to clinch Lurie making wholesale changes that he was afraid to last year.

I still think Sirianni would be gone if they only won like 8 or 9 games, but I think there's an outside chance he'd keep him and blame Hurts or the defense or something.

I am not sure what the change should be beyond Sirianni.  Ironically, I do think Belichick might be what's needed if they keep Moore.  They need someone to game plan the defense and start out thinking the other side.  Sirianni is a glorified cheerleader.  He adds nothing beyond being perplexing aggressive and conservative as a coach.  He treats players reasonably and has some of their respect.

Agree on the play calls. The pass was as high precentage as they come to your best player

but the offense is still the far bigger issue

They played an immobile QB and did not make him flinch at all.

Belichick + Moore + Howie sounds like a recipe for disaster

Overall this is a very unlikeable team.  Noticed CJGJ flexing after he made a tackle after a 7 or 8 yard gain a couple times.  Sirianni needs to be fired yesterday.  No accountability from anyone, just the same crap we heard last year.  I’m fine with a bad season as long as it results in moving on from the majority of the coaches and a bunch of these loser players.

CJGJ had the best tackle on defense.  He's an agitator.

Bill would at least be mean to the players when they lose and that would make me feel better.

How sad a sports town is San Diego, that these 7 dopes are considered their 'Super' fans?  :nonono:  So cringy.  "That's what's in."

Schmoopie and I were singing "That's whats INNNNNNNNNNNNNN" after every Phillies run scored that series

So I thank them for that

Hopefully he can just enjoy the trip part.    Congrats to your dad, btw.   Awesome to hear.

He will.  He and my mom use to go down there all the time for Mardi Gras when I was a kid. (NOLA is one of his favorite places on the planet) We use to love the beads they brought back.

Years later it hit me..... <_<

I want no part of Belichick. I'd trust him to get the most out of this defense, but I don't want retreads, let alone one who may only coach for two more years. I want something new and fresh and someone here for the long haul. I believe if Siri is fired, the top 3 on Lurie's wishlist will be Ben Johnson, Klint Kubiak, Bobby Slowik.

Sirianni is on the hot seat for questionable calls that backfired in the Eagles’ loss to the Falcons

Nick Sirianni navigated a string of questionable calls that still left Philadelphia’s fourth-year coach guiding the Eagles to the brink of a victory — with a win probability pushing close to 100% in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter, Dan Gelston of The Associated Press reports.

The Eagles held that late lead over the Falcons even though, among just a few head-scratchers out of the playbook, they failed to call a running a play for Saquon Barkley on a stalled opening drive, a week after he scored three touchdowns; and rather than take a chip-shot field goal from Jake Elliott, their fourth-and-4 gamble at the Atlanta 9 in the first quarter failed when Jalen Hurts threw an incomplete pass.

Yes, Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is the play caller — Sirianni accused a reporter of trying to "stir it up” when asked during the postgame about decision making — but blame for the failed efforts falls on the head coach.

It’s a responsibility — and a hot seat — Sirianni has accepted since last season’s second-half collapse raised questions about his job security. His latest mess, a puzzling pass play with under two minutes left in the fourth quarter on third-and-short to Barkley in the flat that he dropped.

Good!  He should have lost his seat last off season but still.... Good!

Spoiler

The Eagles lost on Monday.  Didn't want to spoil it for the timeline you are in.

I asked Nick this and he kinda smiled and said he was thrilled with Jalen, and it worked out for the best. Didn't refute that he got the job because he was Frank's OC and was supposed to fix Carson.

My humble suggestions on changes that are needed ASAP to salvage the season.

1. On offense, it's time to dump the RPOs. The new emphasis on lineman downfield makes it a negative play, and when Hurts pulls it and runs, he never succeeds. Just hand the damn ball to Barkley. Other than this, the offense is not my primary concern, especially once AJ comes back.

2. Enough of the all nickel, all the time. We need to go with 5 lineman on 1st down -- Sweat, Carter, Davis, Williams, Smith. If teams throw on 1st down, well...5 guys rushing need to get home and make the ball come out. You have Slay and Q, and you need to trust them to cover. I'd send more run blitzes with Dean or Baun as well. We need to start forcing teams into 2nd and 3rd and long. Yes, there's more risk you get beat deep, but Maddox isn't exactly a shut down nickel -- you can still easily get beat in nickel on 1st down.

3. Accept what Huff is and stop trying to make him into something he isn't. I think/hope that he hasn't forgotten to rush the passer, but he's thinking so much out there he is playing slow and getting worn down. Do I like having a $51mm situational pass rusher? Of course not. But that's not a reason to keep forcing the issue. Smith and BG are much better against the run.

4. Find more snaps for Ojomo and Booker -- I trust them more than Carter and Davis right now.

5. If DeJean isn't ready, play CJGJ at nickel and Maddox at safety. Both guys are playing at weaker spots for their talents.

Frankly, the more I think about it, it seems Fangio is causing issues by trying to force square pegs into round holes.

Well he found some success with someone as sheet as tannehill.  Surely they can see that

Dom too. If he doesn't get his ish together he can go back to his old job of standing at the doors of Show'N'Tell!

Howie probably has the safest job in the whole league. As long as he’s here, there is zero chance Belichick is going to be here.

My top pick is Duce Staley and I know no one will agree with me but you’re all stupid anyways so who cares.

Yep, I said the same thing after week #1.  Stop with the RPOs.  Get up under center and hand the damn ball off.  Then use play action off of that.

A lot of great ideas. I wouldn't take Carter off the field for Ojomo, though. Get Booker some more snaps and see how he plays when Davis isn't next to him. If that doesn't work then try something else, but gosh that would be a problem.

The RPO needs to go for multiple reasons some of which you mentioned. If they want to throw in some designed runs, fine, but the less he runs the better after injuries taking a toll once again last year.

I like the idea of Maddox at safety and CJGJ at nickel. Smart.

Yep. No reason to start a run a few yards behind the LOS. With the size of their OL line up and bulldoze them.
