Hurts and getting sick on a MNF game go hand in hand anymore

Even when healthy he still runs out of a clean pocket in a panic when his first read isnt open.

Is 9th highest paid QB elite money?

Anything top 8 in a 32-team league is elite, IMO.  Hurts' contract is top 8 in contract value, contract length, AAV% of cap, total guaranteed money, etc.  He's being paid at an elite level.

Why are you out on Moore without putting any blame on Hurts? He is the guy who can't see the field after his first target is covered. How often does he step up into the pocket when there is pressure vs immediately rolling out?

I have, but Hurts is who he is. Moore was supposed to come in here and revitalize the offense and that has not happened.

Given Hurts' production, the contract is not a barrier to success (yet). Look at his cap hits. It's fine.

If he went on the trade-market, the bidding starts at 2 1st rounders. Look around the NFL, QB thirst is very real.

This was the guy who officiated the Eagles game.  Guess we should have saw it coming.

2 1st rounders

That’s a bit steep in my opinion, but I personally don’t value qb the way the rest of the league does either. I don’t get why they are getting to amount of money they are getting. There are really only 2-3 QBs that should be getting these ridiculous contracts.

Save that money, build a team with it. Don’t anoint another unproven savior. It’s like the owners are gambling on the next big name qb with these contracts.

because the offense still has no QB. No offense will look good with Hurts at QB. It was clear last year. It was clear this step needed to happen to prove it. New OC. Same results. QB is to blame.

Then how do you explain 2022 when the team had the best offense in the NFL?

Hurts isn't bad. He may not be elite, but they've shown he's good enough to be the QB in an elite offense.

And Hurts doesn't explain why the tape shows players still aren't being schemed open. Sure he misses looks here and there, more than your elite QBs, but there is also something to be said about an offensive mind going to a team and transforming a QB. Derek Carr was dreadful the last couple seasons. Kubiak has gone in there and made him and the offense look completely different.

Moore has done nothing close to that here.

I would say its the top 2, maybe 3, at the position. If you do top 8, that's essentially a quarter of the starters for any position and you can't have 25% be elite.

Mentioned this in my ‘recap’, it’s early in the season but he’s not doing well with the responsibility.  I’d be curious what the true average clock remaining is, but it seems like even in the hurry up he’s scrambling to get it together with about 5 seconds left every down.

There's a huge confounding factor here with a new OC in Moore. Different scheme, terminology, could be more verbose playcalls. Can't just look at play clock at the snap, you'd have to chart when they break and get to the line vs the actual time left when the ball is snapped.

I wanna rag on Howie a little bit more, because 2024 Howie has really pissed me off. For one, I'm tired of the yearly cycles. Two years good, two years bad. Back in the Doug era. Howie was 2016-2017 good, 2018-2019 bad. Sirianni era: 2021-2022 good, 2023-2024 bad. It's a big reason why they haven't been able to sustain elite play. Every time they climb the mountain, they come crashing back down starting the next season.

But aside from that, even though it was a small thing, the Patrick Johnson thing annoyed the crap out of me. Not just the player, but the process behind it all. Howie's in the midst of his latest fad--this one, pursuing young former higher draft picks he thinks he can rebuild their value, and so far none of them have worked except maybe Becton. This team needs edge help in the worst way and instead of cutting Byron Young, his latest pet reclamation project that we all know isn't going to work, he chose to cut a guy who could actually possibly help the team this year, and then he winds up on the Giants.

Again, it's not like he's some superstar pass rusher, but the process is Fing annoying. I'm so over this latest Howie fad. Give me a guy who's 30 and we know can play over a 26 year old who's been a bust, has looked like utter crap, and maybe can have their career resurrected. And the latter is all he did this entire offseason. Signed a bunch of high risk guys, some total busts and some varying degrees of success, but none remotely proven.

Patrick Johnson wasn't going to help this team or any team in the NFL ever....

He literally led an offense that set the franchise record for most pts scored in a season and was 3rd in the NFL that year.

First off, there's no way to move off Hurts this year or next year, so just stop speculating on it because it's not happening. After the 2025 season, we could trade him for a manageable cap hit, but really he is locked in on the roster until then. And frankly, Hurts is pretty low on the list of issues for this team. Looking around the league, it's not like there are a ton of QBs lighting it up right now and being significantly better. Before the last throw on Monday night, he played an efficient game without his best weapon.

The biggest issues on this team right now are...Sirianni and Fangio. Nick needs to find a consistent method on game management. Going for the 4th down in the first quarter and then kicking the FG at the end of the game simply can't be reconciled. 2022 Nick was Mr. Aggressive all year right up until he wimped out and punted on 4th and 3 in the Super Bowl. Now he seems to be doubting himself and playing it safe at the wrong times. Nick -- if you're going down, go down swinging.

But Fangio is a much larger problem because he seems to be obstinate in wanting to run his system regardless of the players he has. Huff isn't an every down player, so stop putting him out there and asking him to play the run. Use Nolan and BG on run downs, and bring Huff in as a pass rush specialist. Davis is a 2 down player. And go to 5 D lineman to stop the run already instead of always sitting back and being afraid of getting beat deep. Use CJGJ in the slot and Maddox at safety in nickel. Finally, Dean and Baun are good blitzers (so id White), so try blitzing them occasionally. Run some stunts on the D Line for once. I could go on, but our defense is basically 4 guys rush straight ahead with soft coverage behind...

After 2 weeks, I am so disappointed in Fangio. I said he was the most important addition of the offseason, and he is crapping the bed. And no, I don't think Davis, Carter, Sweat, etc. forgot how to play. Barnett is useless here, goes to Houston and gets used properly, and now he is a pass rush threat. Our defensive coaching is an abomination.

John McMullen was saying that Fangio doesn’t talk to Kellen or Nick. If that’s true then that’s a pretty glaring and odd situation. This whole setup is a mess and was doomed from the start. No continuity, no plan, just organized (if you can call it that) chaos all around. Lurie + Howie really created an untenable situation it appears.

If that's true, then it's insane.

Fangio and Hurts are equally the biggest issues on this team.

Did you spend the entire game on Monday Night in the bathroom?
