I thought I would stop by and see how my old pals on the EMB were doing. I did catch some highlights from the last minute loss and figured you all would be a bit upset. Still too early in the season ot be too upset though. That said while I really don't miss football that much I do miss the interaction in here with you guys. Hoping things turn around for you.

Good to see you around, old friend.   How are you?

Long time, old friend. Hope all is well.

Probably an afternoon team meeting at that.

We've all probably seen the film breakdowns where Bryce Huff's inability to hold any kind of edge just invites teams to attack with outside zone. So, only play him on obvious passing downs, right? ...But it's not that easy. Any smart offense that converts on a passing play can just go quick, keep him on the field, and just keep pounding that soft edge.

For a team like the Saints that major in OZ runs and like to use heavy personnel groupings, I'd be curious to experiment with playing Jalen Carter at the edge in base 4-DL fronts. Carter's at least not going to get pushed around out there and has the talent to provide some pass rush juice. The Chiefs deploy Chris Jones (not saying Carter is Jones' caliber) like this and even Fletch was used this way at times -- probably more in 3-down fronts without looking that up. Milton Williams might be another candidate to get more of a force player on the edge.

I'd rotate the interior DL between Davis, Ojomo, Booker, and whoever of Carter/Williams isn't on the edge.

This virgin has never have a girl in his house and has been making the same crap song for every game and he gets the Colts cheerleaders to help now.

Welcome back!  What made you stray from football?

My concern with Huff does not pertain to his struggles setting the edge.  Is he really bad there?  Sure.  But all 6'1" 240 (if that) of Haasan Reddick wasn't exactly flourishing when he had to square off against an OT, bump out, and have edge responsibility.  You can compensate for that because of the pass rusher he was.

With Huff...I have now seen multiple, multiple snaps in which he was 1:1 with a TE.  The TE easily stonewalled and won the blocks.  This is so many different levels of terrible.  For one, any edge rusher should reliably be able to overwhelm a TE.  To be dominated and sealed off by one multiple times...that's like having your 4 hitter go 0-5 with 5Ks against the backup outfielder coming in to pitch.

But that's not the worst part.  We've all seen mismatches and blown assignments where a TE is blocking an edge...sometimes even the best pass rusher on the team.  And it's just that...a mismatch or a blown assignment.  We get pissed off when we see it.  This was by design.  And they chose to keep doing it.  That is incredible disrespect from the opposing team.  Do you realize the matchup nightmare it creates for our defense when they still have 5 OL to work with and can literally just put a TE on Huff?

I really love the Eagles. I always have. Always will.

I really hate several of the players and not just because of performance. Just a lot of unlikeable **** bags on the team IMO.

AJ out for Sunday

Who do you really hate? A bit strong isn’t it ?

Don't usually like to make sweeping statements, but I will for Sunday. Sunday we'll get good insight into whether or not this team is a contender or pretender. Contenders bounce back from efforts like MNF. Of course there are exceptions to everything. Teams go through rough patches. But generally, after being embarrassed to that degree, contenders will bounce back. Not saying they have to win, but they can't get blown out or shredded. If they do, that's typically the sign that you suck. That's what you see from bad teams and teams that are broken.

If the Eagles get the doors blown off on Sunday, while of course there's always a chance they could still go on to have a good season, I'll bet my bottom dollar it's likely a sign of things to come and this season is going to suck. If nothing else, if they can't show pride and put forth a good effort, then that's a really bad omen.

I agree...but there are a few possibilities after Monday night:

1. Eagles are a very good team that got caught with their pants down and are capable of a great wakeup, rebound, and competition.

2. Eagles are a very talented team, but still have the same lockerroom issues as last year, lack the resolve to respond, and are going nowhere.

3. Eagles are fine in the locker room, attitude is fine.  They just are not a good team, not that close either.  Just can't stop teams.  They don't have the ability to respond.

4. Eagles will be a really good team.  Just aren't ready to play a clean game yet since it's early in the year.  Saints game will be ugly too but they'll be fine.

#4 is really convenient rhetoric for a team that will be 2-10 in 12 games if they drop one to the Saints.  That's top of the draft bad.  It would be a joke to talk about competing.

Otherwise, options 1-3 mean that we WILL see the real face of the Eagles against the Saints on Sunday.

Eagles haven’t won in New Orleans since 2007 but Hurts has never lost to them. Something has to give I guess.

Yep. It's getting harder and harder to watch and plug into. If they get blown out Sunday I might stop watching. Happily, the Orchestra season is soon to get underway.

Not if you don't watch it.

You are right. There are many other things to do in life. I thought I would miss it wayyy more than I do
