I would be more confident in a win had this game been scheduled later, when the newness of both schemes had faded, or even if it were in Philly week 1.

Right now, I can't be confident that the offense will operate cleanly and the back seven won't blow assignments.

Green Bay I think is switching from a 4-3 to 3-4 after a bad defense last season,so they have similar issues.

Probably a sloppy first half followed by a nail biter second half.

I think Hunt is a little faster than you think and Ricks a little slower. 40-times: 4.64 for Hunt; 4.60 for Ricks. Still, your argument holds if Ricks is a better open-field tackler. It will be interesting to see the actives.

Hunt was a safety before he moved to edge, so he has experience tackling in the open field.

I hope they let Cooper return kickoffs.

Any non Eagles NFL predictions? Not records, just things that will happen.

Every year friends and I go over predictions and this year I don't really feel strongly on anything. It's very odd. I years past I had enough to where I had to cut it down.

I'm leaning toward the Chargers being the team with the biggest leap in win total, but even that I could see that being the Cardinals as well.

I think the Packers are being overhyped, but that's not really a prediction.

Daniel Jones will be benched maybe?

I think Rodgers and the Jets do well

On the flip side, nobody has seen what their new system will look like with the Eagles roster, so GB doesn't know what to expect. Sure, they will watch film of Dallas and SD, but it's different.

I mentioned in another thread. I'd rather Ricks in uniform that Hunt. You still need "fast" guys as gunners on special teams. So you'd rather have a corner (Ricks) for that role than have a superfluous linebacker in uniform. I'm not sure Hunt offers anything that VanSumeren, Trotter, and Johnson don't already give you.

Hunt ran a 4.64 forty to Ricks 4.60.  Ricks is 188 to Hunt’s 250.  Not sure either is "fast”. Ricks displays good instincts and Hunt is green.  Of the guys you list, only VanSumeren is "fast” in my way of thinking.  Really only gunners on PR now.  I suspect that with the PS tendency on using RBs on KORs that if the Eagles just don’t concede the thirty with touchbacks that LBs might be more useful on those KORs and DBs more useful on PRs.  I suspect a lot of teams just concede the 30 on KORs as the average starting spot in the PS was the 28.5.  That kind of tallies to whom Clay thinks offers him more although the deciding factor may be Bradberry’s move to IR and Rodgers’ hand versus 5 or 6 active DE/OLB.  (Speaking of OLB, PE.com has changed Sweat’s listing to OLB but Graham and Huff are still DE.  Means nothing in the grand scheme of things but tracks with Sweat’s number change.)

I'd have Elliot kick it into the end zone every time. Giving the opponent at the 30 as opposed to the 25 isn't a big enough change to risk a long return. The risk/reward doesn't make sense to do anything other than boot it out of the back of the end zone.

I think all the hype about the new kickoff is going to be a dud as most teams still just go for the touchback.

And we have since seen that the new "safer" kickoff isn't really safer.  Two guys going for the tackle on the kick returner at the same time from opposite sides will still be in danger.  Play it safe, both ways and kick it into the end zone... and force the NFL to trash heap these stupid new rules.

100% agree. I think it's one and done and scrapped next year. It's too complicated, it doesn't translate well to TV and it doesn't seem any safer. And like you said, the risk/reward isn't there.

Pretty much a lock Quinyon is the starter. I guess Ringo comes in when in Nickel and Quinyon moves to slot. Unless they just keep him outside and bring in Maddox.

The Rodgers situation seems odd. Most guys on limited practice suit up. Have they soured on him or is whatever hand ailment this is legitimately an issue?

Maybe it's a broken bone in hand or finger and they considered bandaging but then figured why bother just play Mitchell

I'd guess it's Q to the slot and Ringo on the outside, as you said. Maddox really has been a safety all camp, and DeJean isn't ready.

Wonder what the injury with Rodgers is -- surprised he made the trip and then is out.

This actually has me a little concerned. Not sure I want to bank on Ringo in 3 CB sets.

I would think if they soured on him he would have stayed in Philadelphia. Sounds like the injury is maybe worse than they thought.

Daniel Jones will be benched maybe?

- Texans finish with the best record in the AFC

- Steelers trade Najee Harris at the deadline

- Cowboys implode, but their rookie OL are going to look really good

- Seahawks finish under .500. Geno Smith last year was an anomaly

- Tyreek Hill has 4 more kids to 4 different women

I mentioned Maddox because (I think) it was Fangio who said the other day he sees him as both S and CB.

They have been pretty tight lipped about Rodgers. He was missing for the last preseason game, I guess getting treatment. But then nobody even knew what the injury was until they released the first injury report on Tuesday.

There's been a weird feeling going on with him for some time. You have to wonder how his attitude is with Quinyon being the starter. Rodgers did everything he was asked, took the majority of the starting reps throughout TC and then boom, the rookie is the starter.

I've seen DBs play with a big cast wrapped around their broken hand so this has to be something that can't be easily immobilized and still played with. Though that always made me wonder how ishy that backup DB must be that the guy with one functional hand is still a better DB than his backup that has two.

I hope you guys are right. Q and Slay outside, Maddox in the slot, and CJGJ and Reed at safety would work nicely.
