I just re-watched the hit.  I think there's an argument the hit violated the helmet to helmet rule.

ARTICLE 10. IMPERMISSIBLE USE OF THE HELMET

It is a foul if a player:

  1. lowers his head and makes forcible contact with his helmet against an opponent; or
  2. uses any part of his helmet or facemask to butt or make forcible contact to an opponent’s head or neck

https://operations.nfl.com/the-rules/nfl-rulebook/#article-10-impermissible-use-of-the-helmet

He leads with his helmet and hits Devonta in his helmet.  The only question is whether he lowered the head.  So, the tackle wasn't illegal but the manner in which he made the tackle is.

Textbook unneccesary roughness. They cry about hip drop tackles all offseason but miss stuff like this? Refs continue to prove they suck major ass at officiating.

Quinyon has been incredible.

If he learns how to catch, he's a Pro Bowler.

He had 8 ints in college. He knows how to catch

Holy crap!  What a wonderful way to start my Sunday!  An appearance by the Emerald Emperor himself. I say "How have you been!?!" but Connecticut beat me to it as I scrolled back to your first reappearance post on Friday.  It is good to hear that you are doing well and I personally hope we see more of youin the coming days and weeks.  You are very entertaining ... and a good friend to us all!

Thanks, that's high praise coming from the king of the message board. Yes I will check in a little more often. I'm assuming you guys were happy about Sunday's win?

Are we talking about points or turnovers?

If you want to change the discussion, we can do that.

But we were talking about offensive production.

But if you want to talk about turnovers, we can do that.

Google turnover worthy plays. Hurts is certainly not an outlier in that category compared to Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes, which are his direct comps.

I am talking about how Hurts' turnovers are mitigating the yardage success that you first mentioned.

I have seen the turnover worthy stats from last season, I believe from PFF.  They are subjective, but still directional and informative.

Until it stops, his turnover rate can't be seen as short-term.

I think Shipley has the tools to be good there.

It will answer the age old debate of how much does Covey actually give to this team to warrant a roster spot.

I don't think the Eagles will fire Sirianni during the season. I think it requires too much shuffling of the coaching staff. Nussmeier would have to move to OC, they'd have to find a new QB coach, etc. Assuming Moore gets the job, which he almost assuredly would be made interim HC.

And I don't think it's fair to Moore to put all those responsibilities on his plate. He's focused on calling plays, scheming his offense. All of a sudden you put HC duties on his plate. I think it's too much of a dramatic overhaul to do during a season, I don't think Lurie will do it.

Except when siriani is calling them

In contrast, this is how you coach.

Funny thing is all evidence points to Howie signing Baun to be an EDGE depth player until Fangio changed his role.

I’d be interested in how this all worked out during FA meetings. Maybe Fangio thought he could be a versatile LB a la Van Ginkel, but I seem to remember Baun talking about playing edge here during his introductory press conference.

I could see him winning it just because the other top candidates are QBs on teams that may not make the playoffs.  Cam Ward is the odds favorite but if Miami doesn't make the college playoffs he could fall out of favor easily. Ewers and Manning are going to share votes.  Iamaleava and Dart may share votes because they both are in the SEC.  Both TN and Ole Miss may not make the playoffs.   Hunter will make highlight plays if he stays healthy. He's playing on both sides of the ball.  I think that will appeal to some of the journalist voters out of the regions where the other candidates don't play.

Why would Miami fall out of the playoffs, which is 12 teams, like what? Miami is a legit football team this year, even with Mario probably screwing it up. Who are they not favorited against and last ranked team they face this year is Louisville. They will be 12-0 headed into the playoffs and Heisman is before the payoffs start.

Cam Ward will win the Heisman, book it, lock it up, it is already over. He is on pace 4400 yards and 42 TD and we know they will try to get him 50 TDs.

Hunter has 5 TDs so far, Devonte had 23 TDs when he won it. Not to mention, no one gives about a middle of the pack Colorado team.

If he keeps moving the ball at that rate, turnovers matter way less. Which is why no one complains about Mahomes or Allen turning the ball over.

More importantly, having a defense that occasionally stops an opponent has a direct correlation on turnovers by the offense.

We saw that yesterday, when Carr threw his int, and last week, when Jalen threw his.

You can't freak out about turnovers by a qb with a bottom 5 defense without freaking out way more about the bottom 5 defense.

De’Andre Swift has 32 carries this season for 54 yards.

It's been a busy morning. Time for lunch. So...are we all still complaining about yesterday's victory?

Yea, he said how excited he was to come here to rush the passer more.

Yeah he would never do something like that - just blindside hit a receiver half his size that was already being tackled by two defenders.  He's an F'n scumbag

I am happy with the way the defense played.  I am not happy with the boneheaded head coaching decisions and Jalen's continued lack of care for the football.

Chicago’s offensive line is horrible. Swift would have been putting up fine numbers if he were still here. But you won’t find a soul who would rather have him over Barkley with what we’ve seen through three games. He’s been a clear upgrade to say the least.

This is me

Also to add I'm happy with the way the Oline played when the backups came in on the right side. Goedert stepping up was definitely great to see

Barkley has been an all around great addition that they should really lean on in the passing and run game

CJGJ has been responsible for badly losing his man in coverage on TD's in 3 straight games now, lot of talk about Huff, but CJGJ is quietly having a disaster of a season too, His one stand out play was stuffing Bijan in the Atlanta game and he almost negated that taking his helmet off, he somehow managed to convince the Refs it came off naturally.

I'd rather he covered his receiver consistently than run his mouth off.

Ironically, if they'd enforced that penalty we probably would have won the game.

He's the best LB we've had since Bradham. I don't count TJ Edwards because he was not as good here as he is in Chicago.

No way. Kenneth JAGwell to the rescue.

Except Nolan will play the run, plays ST and generally tries hard.

I’ll give him that but Smith is on a path to disappointing first round pick. He needs to start generating some consistent pressure in October. If he doesn’t then I’d have to say he goes on the "real risk he never gets there” list.

I kind of think Shane Waldron may not be good at his job.

Swift had a nice start last year but basically only got what was blocked over the second half of the season. That works with a great OL with defined holes and space. Obviously Barkley is maximizing and creating yards with vision, burst and long speed.

One guy who is playing way above expectations is BG. He might not be able to keep it up at his age but he’s been great so far.
