Those were people who fell into his lap that were rated higher. I mean he deserves credit we agree, but he has done a poor job fixing the line outside of Carter. Will he be here? Yeah. Do I trust him to draft a DE or DL that isn't supposed to go top 10 and falls to him? No.

I agree. Howie's been much better at free agency DL than in the draft, which is what makes the Huff miss so weird.

Howie's understanding of positional value helps a lot. Just missing a true #1 EDGE.

Agree with the others but the jury is out on fangio and CJGJ

We were the worst defence in the NFL coming into the saints game

The thing that wreaks of trouble with Huff is that on a day that the defensive line and linebackers dominated - I believe he only played around 30% of the snaps.   Not a good sign.

Baun has easily been our best defensive player over the 3 games. I'd give him an extension

Yup.  Sign him now before they lose another LB and can't replace him for years.

They didn't just win they physically dominated NO in their home field, one of the toughest to play in in the NFL.

And thanks to the foolishness of the HC, barely came out with a win.

Nick needs help.

I'm guessing it's a hard position to get right in the league.

Ive been called worse countless times over it. But we cant type the word here or google wont let us make money anymore.

Again, how the hell did he look so much better with the Jets? I get he was in a contract year, but still....he's the worst signing I can ever remember and it's not close

I think he was just allowed to rush the passer for the Jets.

Same with Devin White and Isaiah Rodgers though.

The Devin White thing is confusing the Isaiah Rodgers thing just mind boggling.

Maybe rodgers hand is worse than reported.

When was the last time we drafted a defensive player who played 100% of the snaps in their first season. I'm glad we got Mitchell and he's the player we hoped he'd be.

18 snaps for Huff? He must really suck - Man needs to do something pretty quickly

What do you 'must really suck'?  Haven't you seen him getting pushed around, falling down or just plain lost when he's on the field?   He was a UDFA... and it's showing now.  He's not even a decent role player on this team right now.  I'd take Juqua Parker over him in a heartbeat, or even Brandon Whiting!  At least they were good in their limited roles.  He's making me long for the days of Victor Abiamiri.

I can't remember a FA signing that has missed this big since Sconce Maxwell

Byron Maxwell wasn't the sconce guy.   The sconce guy was Cary Williams.  They signed him and Bradley Fletcher the same offseason to fix the secondary.   Then had to bring in Byron Maxwell, because they didn't fix anything.

I am happy with the way the defense played.  I am not happy with the boneheaded head coaching decisions and Jalen's continued lack of care for the football.

I didn't watch much of the game but from what I saw I understand.

Yup. He has 66 total tackles in 57 total games, in NY he was just a pass rusher zero run responsibilities what so ever.

Howie gave a lot of money to a part time only pass rusher betting he could be a full time complete DE, so far Huff has shown absolutely nothing even in known passing situations.

Holding onto a guy like toohill who is a part time DE would have been better than giving 50 mil to Huff.

Hell at this point keeping Patrick Johnson or any of the other pass rushers in this past camp would have been better.

Atleast Vic Benched him, took a bit longer for Maxwell to get yanked.

It's like he is strafing in a FPS.  Almost a perfect right angle going across the line and then downhill toward the QB.

Someone here last night it seemed like 6 times it seems like he was completely unblocked.  That stutter is why.  If he can keep his wits about him, my god.

I said it last week. Our DL is told to play the run on the way to the QB. The engage the OL, peak over his shoulder and then try to make a move.

This negates the elite 1st step Huff has, and also puts him ad a disadvantage because of his size. You dont want him engaging the OL every snap. You want him blowing by them. But hes not really allowed to do that here. He does have counters but those are all based on his speed and quickness. He doesnt have strength counters. Hes just a little guy.

This system is not made for him.

Sorry, best we can do is Emperor Weighs-a-Ton, Lead Grundle Licker.

Low key rooting for the Bengals to keep losing so they're open to trading Hendrickson at the deadline. Would help this DL tremendously.

Nambdi wasnt that bad, he just was far short of the All pro they expected.

Maxwell ,cullen jenkins, demarco murray, miles Austin, takeo Spikes, kelvin Martin, Smith cant remember his name LB from the Cowboys, Boniol, basically any cowboy ever signed to be an eagle worse than Nambdi.

On a different note I think one of the most underrated signings of all time was Timmy Jernigan, too bad he got hurt ☹️

For sure, he was a monster when he was healthy

Going back through the box scores, and being conservative, I have both Hurts and Sirianni leaving 9 points on the board through three games.

Hurts with turnovers inside opponents' territory and Sirianni with "FGs are for p*ssies"
