It's much easier to double team when you don't have a 5 man front.

I remember last year the opposing offenses would attack these 3DL fronts with a G-T combo on the 4i and bringing the backside G or T across to kick out the DE/LB. The play side TE would trash up the 2nd level (and our LBs couldn’t shed/fit or fill).

I think you’re missing the point. Teams didn’t take cheap shots when Jason Peters was here, or Jon Runyon. Or if they did, there were consequences. If the refs can’t control things like the shot on Devonta, his teammates have to. Somebody has to be that bd-a$$ me. Looks like Carter is that guy.

No, that's a completely different point. Carter was jawing with fans in the stands half the time. The other time trash talking after a win by giving them thumbs down and yelling at them that they lost. If he was setting the attitude and being a body guard similar to Peters after Penning blocked Slay into a bench, you would have a point and I would agree. But he didn't.

Nothing he did was to stick up for his teammates. It was to talk trash. And again, he needs to learn to do this while not being insubordinate.

mailata after the smith shot pushed and said something to 97. I wish he would’ve went after him more but i think he might have refrained cause we couldn’t really afford to lose him with lane and becton already out

To be fair we don't know what's really going on as far as play calling.

It was Kellen Moore that is calling plays.  He might just be covering for Moore because the play didn't work.  He made the call to go for it obviously but not sure he called that actual play.  Maybe he did but we don't know.

I never see him looking at a play sheet and communicating a play into the headset.

You think he needs a play sheet in front of him to tell Moore to run the Tush Push counter to Barkley?   Tush Push is Sirianni's baby.  He'll never forget that play.

And doubled down a couple times in today's PC about how it was his play call.  Sure, he might be covering for Moore, but he's doing a really good job of jumping on that bullet, irregardless, the decision to go for it there was just stupid irrespective of the specific play call.  And there's no getting around the fact that it was his call to go for it on 4th down.

Yea, would be interested to hear his thoughts. Kempski mentioned he asked around the locker room and most guys didn't think the hit on Smith was "dirty". Almost everyone thought what Penning did to Slay was dirty. I'm surprised no one on Defense really did anything about it.

We couldn’t really afford to lose Smitty and get a 15yd penalty at that point in the game. I’m not expecting our guys to clear the benches in retaliation, but to be collectively and demonstratively pissed.

Penning one was 100% dirty. Frankly i think they should’ve thrown him out of the game. No place for that and he did something similar the week prior.

im surprised CJGJ didn’t do anything. If someone was going to do something I’d have thought him. Maybe Carter but he seemed to have more beef with fans

Yup.  He did that jawwing long after those plays.  He was sticking up for himself because he was upset with how often he felt he was being held during the game.  It had nothing to do with protecting his teammates.   When those things happened he was no where to be seen.

Mailata seemed pretty upset cause 97 was on the ground getting up and shoved him. Then said something to him. Would love to know what he said. mailata at his size is not a guy I’d want to piss off even if he comes off super friendly in interviewed.

i know if peters was on he team i think he's doing it regardless. He went off when foles got cheapshotted tend to think he’d have done it there.

Well, there goes that

Our "first 15" is such garbage I'm starting to wonder if Sirianni is the one that puts that all together

There was a couple they showed during the Saints game that had me scratching my head. It was a husband and wife (assuming), but they looked like this

Jim Carrey almost starred in an Ambiguously Gay Duo live-action movie

CJGJ is not an enforcer, he's an agitator.  Big difference.  Agitators try to get under the skin of the opponent in front of the officials so that they do something stupid and draw a flag.   Enforcers don't care about where the official is and just go after the other player physically.  CJGJ's all mental.  He has no interest in a real physical altercation.  He wants to officials there to break it up quick and throw a flag on the opposition.

Looking at the FA class next offseason it’s not great. So deadline with one of those impending free agents isn’t spectacular. So you’d have to hope teams drop out of it and willing to sell. I do wonder if the titans are out of it if they are more inclined to sell Simmons.

I feel like he’d be the one to start something and then other guys fight and finish it.

Yea. And if that's what we wants to do, fine. But when 2 large men and the HC tell you to stop, you stop. It reflects poorly on Sirianni but at the same time, players pick up habits from leaders and that whole scene looked like a 2022/2023 Sirianni recreation.

I would also add there is never any benefit with getting into it with fans. Like none whatsoever. Fans are dumb, probably drunk and full of emotions. It doesn't take much to escalate when they get involved. Honestly, that's probably why all three were adamant that Carter just stop.

Carter seemed to have beef with Mathieu tbh

Agree. He is an idiot. He lost the week before because he didn't kick a FG so he doubles down

EXACTLY why this week was worse.

You can only go in to start something like that if you feel you've got the backup from the others.   I don't think this team has a guy like that.  This team is soft.  Sorry.  That's just the reality and that's the message coming down from the top.  The constant fear of injury permeates the entire organization.

Carter also seem to tell them to get the F off him and pushed them away. Needs to calm that crap down with his own coaches
