How do you measure that though?  Seems to me that Saquon has his best runs on straight runs, but maybe I am mistaking a 'give' on a RO for a straight run.

Right, it would be pretty difficult to quantify. But yeah breaking down the mix of conventional handoffs (Hurts with his back to the LOS) vs Read Option looks (Hurts facing the LOS) could be a start. From a defensive persective, it would be Hurts' posture and head position that would influence their pursuit or not.

This was one of the few plays I was able to watch live (but without audio) and my initial reaction was that there might've been a flag because there were no defenders anywhere in frame after he caught it and it looked like he was running at like half speed.

Now, Randy White was a pretty good DT, for anyone that can admit that.

Watched him play a game while he was at Maryland vs Penn State.

Ross might play Sunday depending on brown and Devonta status

My dad refereed a high school game of his and said he just dominated the field.

Injury for Covey isn't good. DeJean is a good returner and I can see him looking much better out there.

Covey to IR probably costs them one ST turnover at some point this year.  Not a huge deal, but he was secure back there.

Eh.  He wasn't secure his first year either.   DeJean has a history of doing it and against better competition than Covey had coming into the NFL.   I'm feeling much more confident in DeJean than I did with Greg Lewis.

I give you two white defensive tackles who I'd love to be Eagles, especially Ty Robinson.

I am hoping DeJean will be solid as a returner.  He at least has experience and could be dynamic in the role

I don't think he would usurp him as a returner just because Covey has been very good in the role.  It does probably spell the end of his opportunity as a receiver.

Zach Sieler had 10 sacks last year as a Whitey at the DT position

I am assuming Devonta will miss the game.  They have a bye the following week.  There's no reason to bring him back early.

It’s kinda criminal that White ended up with the Cowboys. Same for Too Tall Jones. White was the second pick in one draft and Jones was the first in another...at a time when the Cowboys were consistently very good and always picked near the bottom of the round. But the Cowboys always seemed to find bad teams to sucker into horrible trades. "Hey, we’ll give you this washed up player who used to be really good if you’ll give us your first rounder next year or the year after.” And the answer would be "Hell yeah!” It’s disgusting how it worked out for them.

Same thing happened with the Canadiens getting Guy LaFleur. The found some stupid expansion team to swindle and got the first pick in the draft as a result...in a draft with a once a decade prospect who happened to also be French Canadian. Perfect fit. Multiple Stanley Cups.

Of course there is another side to that. That’s when you’re a good team and you get a bad team’s first overall pick because of a trade like that and you proceed to trade it away for Roy Hinson on the day of the draft.

Speaking of Hinson, he is exactly who I thought of the day the Eagles signed Huff. A player on a mediocre team who put up good numbers but had no pedigree (Hinson was a mid/late first rounder in basketball while Huff was undrafted in football). And they try to sell the fans that they are actually star caliber players when in your heart of hearts you are sure they aren’t.

I missed much of the news yesterday.  I assumed his injury was a concussion, which means he’s either cleared or not.  If he’s cleared, he plays.  So it’s not a too early thing, unless there is another injury from that hit that I did not hear about… Was there?

Another favorite of mine is Mason Graham at Michigan.

That Moonlight's brother?

I know he hasn’t done a ton, but that Dotson trade is becoming more and more clutch every week

Covey was the number one punt returner last season

Did you have to bring up Roy Hinson?!

Not just Hinson, but also traded away Moses for Jeff Ruland.  😭    Ruland started a total of 7 games for the Sixers, while Malone went on to be an All-Star 3 more times!

Was that the darkest day in Sixers' history?   It might just be.

Could've built a real contender around a young Charles Barkley.  Pissed it all away in one night.

I remember this summer everyone was talking about how easy the Bengals schedule started. They play the team that had the 3rd overall pick… loss. Have to play the Chiefs, that’s rough… loss. Oh joy! Team with the 2nd overall pick… loss.

And now they get to travel to Charlotte to see the flying Dalton’s. Could you imagine…
