The answer is yes, I would feel more comfortable with any of Burks, Trotter AND BVS, depending on who the team prefers.

White strikes me as a Reagor type.  Drafted high.  Believes his past news clippings.  Thinks he has arrived and refuses to take the steps necessary to improve his game.  Look at, in comparison, Jordan Matthews.  Just doesn’t quite have enough so he reinvents himself.  Or Greg Ward.  Or Jordan Poyer.  Look at UDFAs like Blankenship or Q.  Or look at a player on the team right now, who sought out advice from his coach and developed.

One of my bosses (the one I had the longest) and his successor, we have me do interviews on people we were hiring for the higher positions that required a higher level technical positions.  My job in those interviews was to determine if the candidate, as my boss put it, had twenty years experience or twenty 1 years of experience. In other words, did they and would they devote the time and effort into growing their skill and knowledge every day.

So White finds himself inactive.  Huff may have believed he had arrived with his new contract.  As he attempts to grow, he finds his snaps diminished.  I suspect some of the Georgia players arrived with that "arrived” mindset and needed to be dissuaded of the notion.   Now some never take the next step and are soon gone from the league.  Others strive to be better every day, a philosophy not just of the Eagles but of most employers.

As coaches and bosses, they need to learn what motivates an individual as well as their limitations.  White being inactive is a motivator.   Now, I wonder if Nick and Fangio use the Tampa game as a carrot.  Tampa gave up on you.  What can you show to them AND US this week to convince us you are learning, improving and going to get better every day so that we make you active and show Tampa that it was their error in giving up on you?  White’s very career may hang in the balance as to how he responds.

Huff is being asked to make that step.  If I was Huff, I would ask to review film of where there was success in the past by him and where he has not succeeded.  I think Huff is going to continue to be tested as to how he can grow into the role. Meet with Washburn 1 on 1.  Meet with the pro scouts and analysts on what they saw and projected.  In essence, Huff is like Baun, learning a new position.  White can be Reagor or he could be like Maddox and Bradberry, who seeing their careers on the line, expanded their skill set (although arguably both are still a work in progress.).

Personally, I think the Fred Johnson story in the media was put forth by the team as a motivator.  We have seen similar about Mitchell and Baun.  I suspect the next one will be on Cooper, who seems to also embrace the challenge of learning multiple roles, including STs.  Or Becton, who seems to have embraced learning G.

You may be right about White.  You may not be.  We haven't seen him play in an Eagles uniform and we don't know what goes on behind the scene.  What is being said about White is what was said about Barnett a year ago.  Barnett would be the Eagles best edge rusher now by a country mile and would have been at the end of last year the way Sweat and Reddick faded.

I'm not saying start White.  I am saying don't throw him out with the trash the way Barnett was last year.

Nah. It's moving pretty fast and will be out of the area by Saturday.

So Becton, Baun, and F. Johnson are eligible for extensions during the season.  All look to be valuable players to try to keep around.   All were also given second chances by this FO, so maybe a home town discount would be applicable.

Baun may be a no brainer.  He looks the part.  The stats support it.  He may end up in the Pro Bowl by the end of the season.  Sign the guy.

Becton is trickier.  He looks good at RG here.  He may want to get a OT deal elsewhere. I'd try to put together a deal where the base is a well-paid OG, but with incentives should he begin starting games at OT.  (I am starting to think that Lane's concussion may accelerate his desire to hang them up.)

Johnson may be dependent on Becton's path.  They have three options of various confidence at RT after Lane (Becton, Johnson, and Steen).  Johnson may follow Dillard and look to find a starting deal elsewhere.

We can't forget about Albert O.

Milton Williams should be on your list too although I think he probably goes somewhere else next year.

Wouldn’t be worst week to do with with injuries and bye but doubt it

He corrected himself. Goedert is there but off to the side

Kinda torn at RG. Who do you want to see start on Sunday provided Becton is healthy. Becton has looked good but Steen looked damn good too.

Depends on the damage. Hits on Thursday

I believe Steen is a better player.  Becton is a good drive blocker because of his size but struggles in pass protection as his feet aren't good and he has trouble shifting due to that huge body so stunts and smaller DLs give him trouble. If you wtach the tape he really didn't have a good Saints game in pass protection.  Peope are enamored with him due to his size.  Way way too early to think about an extension for him.  Just IMO, of course.

NFL must really hate us.  Had us going to the smoky/dangerous streets of Brazil, then down to the drunken Bayou, and now into Hurricane Alley (Helene)

Turkey hill post of the day

If the Bucs were scheduled to play the Giants this Sunday and Tagliabue were still the commissioner, I’m pretty sure he would find a way to move the game to New Jersey, dress the stadium in Bucs colors, give away free tickets to the locals, and call it a Bucs home game.

I posted something similar a few days back and with Steen's performance on Sunday, it gets really tricky with Becton. On one hand, he's playing well at RG, even though he's a tackle. On the other hand, does he think he can be a better RT and to your point, make more money? I think he's really happy here in Philly with Stoutland and the guys on the team. This is just my gut feeling, but I think he also doesn't have the pressure at RG that he would if he were being trusted to protect the blindside of a QB or be the RT. Before NO, I was 100% on board with giving Becton 4 years. Seeing Steen play makes me think he can be the guy though. I'm torn. Play the odds with the comp game and Steen is RG in 2025? Bring back Becton who will just be 26 and hope he can be RT of the future? I just don't know.

Baun, give him 2 years.

Fred can get 2 years too on a team friendly contract that still gives him a hefty raise. No one is going to give him starter money at 28. He's finally settled in to a great role and I think he knows what that is. Then again, maybe there's a team desperate enough to make him a 1st time starter at 28. I think he gets locked in.

What about Milton Williams? He's gotta come back.

Best Goodell can do is a Tueaday night game.

Wouldn't even be surprised at this point.

Sirianni in the passenger seat

I wonder if the Eagles will start selling passenger princess shirts in the pro shop.

I'm confident that Williams will look to sign as a starter elsewhere.

I can't wait to hear an update from Nick on the injuries. He'll probably say it's too early to rule out Covey even though he's on IR.

He doesn't want to give away any competitive advantage!

Becton. Not to say that Steen didn’t play well because he did but Becton is the clear choice.

Sirianni let's Kellen drive the car but it always seems like when they get to the redzone Sirianni wants to be the one parking the car.

For anyone who is into crypto, Wagmi Games is a hidden gem. I think it will 100-1000x in the next 18 months. Do your research on it and then buy it!
