So Becton, Baun, and F. Johnson are eligible for extensions during the season.  All look to be valuable players to try to keep around.   All were also given second chances by this FO, so maybe a home town discount would be applicable.

Baun may be a no brainer.  He looks the part.  The stats support it.  He may end up in the Pro Bowl by the end of the season.  Sign the guy.

Becton is trickier.  He looks good at RG here.  He may want to get a OT deal elsewhere. I'd try to put together a deal where the base is a well-paid OG, but with incentives should he begin starting games at OT.  (I am starting to think that Lane's concussion may accelerate his desire to hang them up.)

Johnson may be dependent on Becton's path.  They have three options of various confidence at RT after Lane (Becton, Johnson, and Steen).  Johnson may follow Dillard and look to find a starting deal elsewhere.

Have to let Becton and Fred Johnson walk. We'll get comp picks for each. At least a 5th.

Baun is a must-sign for me. We're bad at drafting LBs and he fits the modern NFL. We have enough cap space to resign a LB in 2025.

We'd have more cap space in 2025 if we could trade Devin White too...

We don't have to.   Johnson is on the verge of retiring.  He said he has two years left.  He may not.  So, there should be a conversation with their agents to discuss coming back just to see where their heads are.

As for trading Devin White... why would a team trade for him?  He was a free agent, and no one else was hot on his trail.  And he's been a healthy scratch here for two weeks, after getting benched in Tampa last year.   He's probably being looked at as damaged goods around the league.

Devin White won't be on the team as soon as they need the spot. Unless Dean gets hurt first.  Hope that doesn't happen but obviously recent history is iffy

Since we are talking about next offseason already, it's early, but I have no idea what they do at DE. Josh Sweat shouldn't be brought back unless he takes another steep paycut. Huff can't be back if he can't even be a pass rush specialist. Nolan Smith can't be an unquestioned starter. Graham plans to retire but we really should try to sign him for another year.

1st round pick plus free agent week one signing.

You drafted Jalyx Hunt to develop.  We'll see if Smith develops as the year goes and Huff looks like a complete miss but maybe that changes.  I think Howie drafts a DE in rd 1 and maybe signs a vet if Graham isn't back.  I don't think he's breaking the bank on a free agent.

They will be going DE in round 1, I'm quite sure of it. And if they make one splash signing(they'll be rolling over the rest of their cap dollars), it'll be at DE.

Unless they trade for Hendrickson or Reddick at the deadline and extend them.

Nonsense on Becton. He was a high pick for a reason and now he’s beginning to play like it. He’s the most powerful man on our OL and he’s only going to get better.

Meh - far too soon for that.  Let’s play out the season - at least most of it before worrying about next year’s DE’s.

A lot can happen during the course of a season.

If Hunt can develop into the third DE after 1 year, that would be a solid start. I don't think you should rely on him for more than that unless he really earns it in camp.

Wouldn't even be surprised at this point.

It looks like they'll have Friday & Saturday to clean up any debris, repair any storm damage. Looks like Thursday and Thursday night will be the worst of it in Tampa, looks the worst of the storm will be north of the Tampa area. Thursday winds for Tampa right now are forecast 38 gusts to 73. 1 inch of rain. Wind decreasing Thursday night and another half inch of rain. Sorry, it looks like the wolf criers are going to do as well with the game in Tampa as they did the game in Brazil.

Yeah if the season continues the way it is I would be surprised if Howie doesn't do exactly this. High draft pick and splashy FA or trade for a proven DE

Eagles don't have to draft a DE in round one with this scheme, what they're looking for are players like Hunt, athletic "tweeners" who can line up as stand up DEs and also drop into coverage, not traditional rush DEs. You can find these guys in the 2nd to 4th rds because they're often awkward fits in a lot of college defenses or are undersized pass rushers who are too small to go in the 1st rd.

Same way they use guys like Ojomo and Williams as 3-4 types who can line up at LDE or move inside to DT, again, these guys tend to be available after the 1st rd.

More likely to use a 1st on a three down DT to rotate with Carter and Davis, though Booker may be that guy.

Why sign Graham? He hasn't done anything this season. He’s toast. Time to draft DE high and maybe find a Everydown DE who not just an undersized pass rushing specialist who can’t get off a TE block.

Even with the hurricane passing through, it doesn't mean rain can't be in the forecast on Sunday. In fact the map I looked at a little while ago showed bands of rain passing through the Tampa area on Sunday. Now, whether that means they'll be there between 1PM and 4:30PM, I dunno. But let's not blanket discount the possibility of rain simply because the hurricane will be long gone by gametime.

100 percent agree. Some people think these guys are easily found. Becton needs to be back.

More than Mailata or Dickerson?

I generally don't like to be insulting on here, but do you even watch the games? Graham has been, BY FAR, the Eagles most productive defensive end through three games. Granted, he's only getting limited playing time, but he's definitely been playing well.

He’s pretty powerful but more than Dickerson?

I wouldn’t even say his playing time is limited. He’s over 50% and only 20 snaps behind Sweat who has played the most. Graham is currently playing more than he has since 2020.
