Since we are talking about next offseason already, it's early, but I have no idea what they do at DE. Josh Sweat shouldn't be brought back unless he takes another steep paycut. Huff can't be back if he can't even be a pass rush specialist. Nolan Smith can't be an unquestioned starter. Graham plans to retire but we really should try to sign him for another year.

It's both a top-heavy and deep EDGE class. Could easily take EDGEs with our first two picks.

Jalyx Hunt also counts as an EDGE in our system.

In no world do I see them bringing Sweat back, you just can't. Smith has been playing the run surprisingly well...if he can just get a pass rush going to that would be great. We've got to get Hunt on the field this year so they know if they have something or not. You can't go in to next offseason with him as an unknown.

DE/Rush is priority #1. Trades, FA, draft all need to be utilized.

Nonsense on Becton. He was a high pick for a reason and now he’s beginning to play like it. He’s the most powerful man on our OL and he’s only going to get better.

I agree with this but at the same time, Steen looked VERY good on Sunday. Do you give up on your 3rd round pick from 2 years ago? Do you let his talent waste away as OL6/7? It's a great problem to have but I just don't know which direction they will/should go.

Yea and if Hunt can be a solid rotational guy in year 2 that would be great but I don’t see him being the answer to the problem.

Update

John Ross- #38.  GROSS. Cecil Martin isn't happy right now.

Every pick should be edge, OL and LB

We'll have to hope that our EDGEs continue to develop and we can find a functional EDGE in year 1 in the 20s.

Wouldn't be shocked to see Sweat return if/when he doesn't get the deal he wants.

More than Mailata or Dickerson?

Yes. Not just my opinion. Baldy’s too.

See my prior post.

We can't pay 5 veterans on the OL.

For the math to work, Lane would have to retire.

Forget where they got these guys. Play the better player, whoever he may be. I’m not giving up on anybody. Last game shows why.

I'm confident that Williams will look to sign as a starter elsewhere.

With sweat and BG gone why wouldnt he be a starter here?

I disagree, I want to see us finally take that round 1 franchise RT. Then Edge after

Yup. I always get a chuckle when I hear recent players being referred to as the "greatest" DL ever. Nope. That was Reggie, and it isn't even close. He was Babe Ruth. He was that amazing. And he was "ours" (though not for as long as he should have been.)

Not that i disagree that White is the best to do it, I think JJ Watt was as close as of a complete DL player to White as we’ve seen though and deserves some love for what he accomplished in his era.  Rule changes protecting the QBs and WRs though will prohibit us from seeing the sheer dominance that White had though.

Side note, Ruth is no longer the GOAT of baseball.  Crazy to say.  That guy in LA is pretty frigun good.

We’ll get him at a "we need to see more but here’s a decent check” type deal. Kinda like what Seumalo signed in Pitt

Even with the hurricane passing through, it doesn't mean rain can't be in the forecast on Sunday. In fact the map I looked at a little while ago showed bands of rain passing through the Tampa area on Sunday. Now, whether that means they'll be there between 1PM and 4:30PM, I dunno. But let's not blanket discount the possibility of rain simply because the hurricane will be long gone by gametime.

Certainly. Showers aren't exactly unheard of in Florida:-). But right now it doesn't look like there'll be any effects from Helene; by 8 P.M. Saturday what's left of Helene is forecast to be over west central Tennessee. If there are games, either football or baseball scheduled in Atlanta or Nashville they could be wet. Or Knoxville - Tennessee college game if there's one scheduled.

I actually think the team is in a fairly good spot right now and has a chance to take it to the bucs before the bye. The offense can clearly function with just Barkley and Goedert, they just need Dotson or someone else to show a pulse. Depth on OL looks good and the offense is able to march the ball down the field. Its the redzone they are getting bogged down, 4 trips to the saints end of the field ended in turnovers (failed 4th downs, ints, etc.). I tend to think that will get cleaned up as they install more of Moores offense. I don't blame the int on Hurts, but that fumble was bad. He has to be more protective of the ball when hes scrambling and stop holding it like shady.

The defense really showed up and answered a lot of questions. Going into the (loud) house of a hot team that has been scoring points. 9/10 times the Eagles get blown out in a game like that, as a lot had predicted. The defense held them to 12 freaking points, 130 yards passing and 89 yards on the ground. The DL came to play, and the backfield held up extremely well. I know it won't be like that every week, but I think everyone should be happy they showed what they are capable of if they are firing on all cylinders.

Stringing together games like that is what will help build this team in the long run. I feel confident in their chances against the bucs if they stick to the run game. That play action with Barkley is so dangerous.

No way Travon Walker becomes available if the Jags continue to fall apart?

100 percent agree. Some people think these guys are easily found. Becton needs to be back.

Far too small a data set to make that determination

Would be awesome, but Baalke would have to get fired.

If you look at what Ruth was doing compared to everyone else … It’s still Ruth

I wouldn't be shocked if he did.  He's had multiple concussions over the years.

What do you mean by this?  I’m not going to argue against him…but that Ohtani guy is approaching the same air.

I was worried about OL...still think they could use a tackle if an amazing one is there but the depth guys did well

Tradeoff. Steen is probably better laterally, but Becton is a beast straight ahead. Both are potential starters, question is can either slide out to RT.
