Keep scapegoating, D.P.  Eventually the realization will come that the QB has not put the work into learning Moore's scheme.

If he's right, then they need to fire him right now.

Sorry that it's ESP, but all he's doing is breaking down the play. It's RIGHT THERE. Make an NFL caliber throw. The only thing I disagree with ESP on is that he says the Eagles needed Hurts to be special. No, the Eagles need Hurts to be a competent NFL QB. Make the reads, make good throws.

All I know is this, the Eagles with their turnover problem look exactly like they did when Carson Wentz was at quarterback his last year in 2020. The Eagles are 3-10 in their last 13 games. Go watch those last 13 games and tell me for the most part they don’t look somewhat similar to what they did in 2020. Fans were destroying Carson wentz, pederson and the team. rightfully so because wentz was awful, so was the collection of talent and so was the coaching.

meanwhile they have far more talent than they had during that year even today the eagles had more talent on the field then that 2020 season. At some point in time when you consistently fumble the ball, turn the ball over and just look dysfunctional on offense for the better part of three games then it is a big-time problem. It starts with coaching which has been poor. It starts with your Qb that hasn’t played like 2022 hurts in a while now (especially since the Buffalo game). And a defense that has a schematic problem and lack of talent problem. Also Howie can’t sustain his teams excellence for long than 1-2 years

Yup. $50m for a dude who doesn't elevate anyone. Everyone loves to ish on wentz but he did way more with way less in 2020. When does hurts get the same treatment?

@D.WATSfromda757 what are you confused about with these 2 posts?

Saw that on Facebook. So embarrassing to try to use him as a comparison. Teams would still pick Mahomes over Hurts

He's not.  It's Moore's scheme, Moore's offense, and Moore calls the plays.

Sirianni only kept his job on the condition that he and Howie get on the phone and hire two experienced coordinators -- that was widely reported and verified.  Sirianni keeping playcalling and/or vetoing scheme would be the express lane to unemployment.  That's why Doug was fired; the plan Doug laid out in his meeting with Lurie was to retain Press Taylor and Undin and install Hurts as full time starting QB.  That's what got him fired.  Sirianni likely would have been fired if he took a position of keeping Brian Johnson and Desai/Patricia.

The NFL has adjusted to Hurts and have slowed down/shut down what he wants to do.  The NFL does that.  Defensive coordinators are paid very well to force the QBs to adjust.  Until Hurts starts learning defenses at an advanced level we're going to continue seeing what we're seeing at the QB position.

IIRC one of the commentators mentioned Hurts had Barkley for a TD if he just let it go. Think it was Brady

I must of missed that.  I was too captivated by Brady making small talk by telling us about the weather in Florida and Massachusetts.  Apparently its REALLY different, who knew?

I dislike Brady 365 days per year, but if he was a good commentator I would say he's a good commentator.  He doesn't have the opportunity to cheat from there.

He's just not a good commentator/analyst.  Brady should be telling viewers what the defensive alignments are each play and where the offense should go with the ball, pre-snap.  Then after the play he should comment on why or why not the play was run as projected.  He doesn't have an engaging personality (because he's a scumbag) and if he's not being used for in-depth analysis then FOX is wasting a lot of money on him.

Saquon and Gainwell should not be that close in snap counts. If Quinyon Mitchell can play 100% (77) of the snaps in that heat, Barkley can play more than 56% (32). Will Shipley played 1 snap...the first play of the game. Maddox should be be sniffing 90% of the defensive plays. What an absolute piss poor use of personnel.

If it's true that Moore isn't running his offense and is running a version of Sirianni's offense, my hunch is that isn't Sirianni. That is a mandated offense from Howie and Lurie. Because if Moore truly was given full control of the offense, why wouldn't he implement his offense?

And if Howie and Lurie are meddling in what offense this team needs to run, we are in serious trouble. And if they aren't and Sirianni is still dictating the style, then just what in the F is going on? I thought Moore had total control?

The fact that these questions can even be asked is why this whole plan was asinine to begin with. Sirianni should have been fired. We all knew it back in January. But instead they tried to salvage what was clearly broken. And for what? To keep a head coach who gives you no competitive advantage. Lurie didn't have the balls to do what needed to be done, which is atypical from him.

He had a couple of good comments when he wasn't praising and reminiscing of his time with Bucs

Also means they straight up lied to everyone. They told us from the beginning that it was going to be Moore's offense. Reporters wanted it to be clear who was in charge when they hired Moore since they kept Nick

Maybe but Jalen is not that functionally different than Dak.

No way they do that in-season.  We're screwed.

The shame is that we could have had Belichick or Vrabel, guys who would have been leaders of men. Say what you want about Belichick but this team would be set up perfectly for him, he can focus on defense and we have a star studded offense to make it easier

And whether anyone wants to admit it or not he game plans really well , especially on defense. We’re so poorly coached it’s disheartening.

In contrast to Hurts missing a wide open Barkley

Remember this gem from Wentz against the Seahawks?

Are you adding an extra L in his name now for all the Ls he keeps getting?

Dotson, Campbell, and Ross talk about a trio of underachievers. 34 yards receiving between the 3 of them.

This loss was on the D who let the game get out of hand.  They were pathetic.

Having said that, Hurts/Moore didn't save the team and win the game.  I hope down the road that Moore understands what he is working with and comes in with a much better game plan should he face this type of scenario again.  Hurts is just fine with all the pieces around him but he isn't going to put 30 up using the normal approach with no wideouts.

Nah.  It was equally on the offense for how pathetic they were.   When did they actually produce any positive yardage?  Was it midway through the 2nd quarter?

Both sides had to suck terribly for it to get as far out of hand as it did early.  24-0 doesn't happen just because the defense sucked.   The offense was completely and totally inept, and then Isaiah Rodgers decided to chip in with a bonehead play to top it all off!

It's hard to know the truth because they say differing things at times. Last year Siri kept saying it was his offense. When they fired BJ Nick said it was his offense. They hired Moore and Nick said they're going to have Moore take over the offense...to take what's worked here in the past and blend it with his offense.

Moore said in the offseason that Nick wasn't even in the offensive meetings rooms much, that he would just pop in.

Now that we're in regular season games, Nick has said that Moore calls the plays...except the times he doesn't and Nick says he called the plays, or makes the decision to throw instead of run in a situation where you want to run the clock out.

Giving up play calling is supposed to free the HC up to focus on game management...which he sucks at. Terrible decisions. He talks about culture, values and accountability but he's not holding players accountable.

The HC is responsible for everything. If he doesn't like what Fangio or Moore are doing, he needs to instruct them on what he expects. If he doesn't like how the players are executing, he needs to hold them accountable.

It all starts with the HC.

He should fully let Moore run the offense and do whatever he wants to see if Moore can really make this group work to their strengths.

I’m OK saving Barkley in a game that got away early. The last thing we needed was him to get hurt when there was no point in him being in there.

Would like to see Moore scheme some guys open similar to the Ravens plays.  Jackson had wide open guys like Zay Flowers on easy throws with motion and play action.  They would get the defense going one way with the motion/play action and then throw back the other way with the offensive line leading the way.  They did that several times and really had the defense guessing.

It did look like the Ravens could have been called for illegal OL downfield which the Eagles always get penalized for on these types of plays.  They need to figure out a screen game that works and have the OL play disclipned to avoid those calls.

I don't think Howie and Lurie are dictating the scheme.  I do wonder what Howie's analytics department reports to him about plays and what he relays about the information to Sirianni.  I could see a scenario where Howie's analytics department stifles changes for plays that work.  I also think Stoutland has a lot of influence on the run game.  I do think this is more on Sirianni and Hurts than Howie.  I can't imagine a scenario where Howie is telling Sirianni and Moore to use Sirianni's old playbook.  The fact that it is happening speaks more to Sirianni and what Hurts may be comfortable with in the scheme.

I don't think anyone here thinks Belichick is a bad coach.  I just don't trust him to hire a good OC and to not push for an undue influence on free agency and the draft.

2 hours ago, DrPhilly said:

I agree the O sucked as well but coming into the game we knew they'd be challenged.  We needed the D to keep us in the game and give us time to work into it and win in the latter part of the affair.  Getting down 24-0 without Lane/Smith/Brown was game over.

Anyone with a brain (apparently that excludes the Eagles' coaching staff) knew that they were going to have to rely on the running game, and specifically on Barkley.   Yet, they ignored him pretty much the entire time.  He gets one carry to start the second half, breaks off a 65 yard run, sets them up for a TD... and then gets only 1 carry the rest of the game.   10 carries total.  WITH A BYE WEEK coming up!    Barkley was easily the best (only?) playmaker on the field for the team, and yet they put him on ice.   It's criminal.

You can't put this only on the D.  This was on the coaching staff, on all 3 sides of the ball.  ST sucked.  OFF sucked.  DEF sucked.

We can add one for every turnover this season.  Jalllllen.  A tally in his name will make it easier to keep track of such a large number.

Hurts has been good or bad depending the game every other week we know that but he ain’t going anywhere anytime soon, the fing coach is. So let’s rip the band aid off and stop delaying the inevitable.
