Gonna have to find her.

In Airplane! (1980) the Jive scenes were lines the actors Al White and Norman Gibbs had prepared for their audition. They also taught the old lady (Barbara Billingsley) how to speak Jive.

All the social media stuff….Slay playing grab ass with Parsons on the podcast, etc are great indicators that our stupid society has now carried over in to sports.

Just absolutely no pride in anything.

Seems like this team, and the sport in general, align with my values less and less. Oh well….I’ll still be pulling for them. Just differently.

They're more concerned with social media attention than anything else. Competitiveness is lost.

@D.WATSfromda757 what are you confused about with these 2 posts?

Saw that on Facebook. So embarrassing to try to use him as a comparison. Teams would still pick Mahomes over Hurts

Because it’s bullsht

How was that not PI?

The one where DK was mugging Davis in the end zone to prevent the interception?

I'm pretty sure that was out of spite by the refs given how Davis couldn't stay out of their face all night.

I understand the criticism of Hurts and the play calling but the Eagles are not winning the line of scrimmage.  The players need to execute and win their battles.  As the saying goes, it isn't about the X's and the O's but the Larry's and the Joe's.  That being said, the coaches need to put them in the best position to make plays.

Fred Johnson had a good game in relief of Lane but did not play well in Tampa.  Pressure was coming quick from the edge.  Becton also allowed some inside pressure on a couple of plays.  I still think the strength of this OL is in the run game using their size and power to beat the opposing team into submission.  With Lane Jonson back, they should be better in pass pro but they should dedicate to the run.

The D line is a whole different deal.  They don't have a game changer at DE to wreck the game plan of the opposition.  Carter has that ability at DT but will be frequently doubled.  If Fangio would try to take away the short passes, obviously that would give them more time to get to the QB.  He also needs to mix in the blitz.  Baun is an effective blitzer.  Dean hasn't gotten done in any way.  Give White or Trotter Jr a chance there.

Idiots, for deluding ourselves into thinking this team could win double digit games.

I’m still not all the way out on Huff. No edge rusher will look good when the ball is out of the QBs hand consistently, and offenses can mix up the run vs the pass because there’s no perimeter run support due to DBs being 10 yards away at all times. Only QBs who "want to do too much” are beatable with our defense. Any QB who can make the easy play will dice us up every single time.

Siriani had scapegoats in his DC’s last year instead of understanding the scheme is absolute garbage. He’s the most useless coach in the NFL - doesn’t call plays, doesn’t make adjustments, doesn’t improve in any way year over year. This man has a pro-bowl roster on offense for 3 seasons - and grabs the worse defensive coordinators to play prevent for 4 quarters to make sure his offense doesn’t get the ball lol.

There's no excuse for this guy not beating TEs though and getting rocked in the run game. He's getting absolutely no pressure not even close. The man has ONE tackle. ONE.

There's a certain type of fan that expects every player to handle a loss in the exact same manner as they take losses as a fan. I used to be like that, but now I tend to allow room for the possiblity that the mental pressure of playing in the NFL can lead to players acting in ways that might seem strange to us as fans. Also, for someone like Slay in particular, he's just a yapper who's always liked to talk in front of cameras, so I guess having known that about him for a while, I'm not really too surprised by anything he says anymore.

and what he said was true, CJGJ does bring energy but he has to back up that talk with play. He laughs about it, but that's just who Slay is and doesn't make him any less of a leader to me. I've known leaders on teams I've been on that were just like this, razzing you while laughing so that no one takes it too seriously, but the message gets there. And as a CB, getting past the situation and being the same guy you always are is leadership, when you turtle and get overly serious like Hurts did last year, that everyone complained about, then that's way more destructive to me. Now if we're in week 16 and about to lose our shot at the playoffs, fine, but in week 4 at 2-2 going into the bye...

I thought I'd leave that question out there by itself. Here we are, four games into the season and I don't know who we are. We have one of the best, if not the best, RB in the league and one of the best, if not the best OL, and we piss around. Did Barkley have a touch in the first quarter against the Saints? No. Two touches against the Bucs. Outgained  2 to 1.

No force of will.

And it appears the defensive effort against the Saints was an outlier. Nothing from our edge players. Two years ago we had 70 sacks. Now crickets.

We dictate nothing.

I think Slay has a terrible sense of understanding the optics of some of the things he does. In the grand scheme of things I don't care that all these guys are friends. That's just how sports are now, even in others like the NBA. They all work out and train together in the offseason. I get it. But going on a rival player's podcast to talk about a loss after you contributed significantly fails the optics test. Going on Twitter to talk about your individual career accomplishments after getting blown off the ball fails the optics test. Especially when you have a "C" on your chest.

The fan seems to be upset that Slay decided to go on Parsons' podcast after a bad loss and after Parsons bashed CJGJ the week prior. He's also upset that Slay agreed with Parsons that CJGJ talks a lot of trash, which is true, but Slay in general defended CJGJ in that clip so I think this fan is just bitter about the loss more than anything Slay actually said. Yes, it might seem strange to us that Slay is laughing and hamming it up with a rival player after a bad loss, but we should be careful to read too far into that or extrapolate that to the rest of the team as a whole. Players don't just dive into a week-long manic depressive state like some of us do (I used to at least) because if they did, they'd never make it past one season in the NFL.

I tend to agree - seems like an overreaction by some fans.

Both Slay and Chauncey Gardner have played well for the majority of the season.

Have they made mistakes and given up some plays?

Sure - so does every defensive player in the NFL - but overall they’ve shown up, imo.

The ol' "what's our identity?" question in football. I always say when you have to ask that, the team sucks. It's not an identity issue, it's a sucking issue. lol

But I think we would benefit massively from simplifying the offense. Less is more with Hurts. Build it around the running game and let the big plays with the WRs, when healthy, come off of it. It'll create some space for Hurts to run again too. He doesn't create it well on his own. Defensively...

Ask the CEO of Culture, Values and Standard: the problem with this team the last 2 years has been Siri. It affects every aspect.

I’d like it if he could shut down a top receiver instead of just telling us about it.

That's just Slay, he's a talker, always has been. And you don't put together a career as one of the league's best CBs year after year without having to back up that talk from time to time. But he's also human and maybe this is the way he tries to block out all the negativity. For you, that fails the optics test, and I get it. But for him, maybe it's how he copes. I honestly don't know, and I'm not sure I care that much as long as he's not throwing teammates under the bus, which he wasn't.

And when I say blocking out negativity, it's in reference to what these players are exposed to on social media as a result of direct engagement from fans. That's why so many of them go dark on social media like Huff did. Maybe it has something to do with being told they suck, they're worthless, kill themselves, etc after not playing up to par. I know we expect them to have thick skin because of the money they're making, but all the money in the world can't tranform all of them into robots. They're still human at the end of the day and have to deal with all that goes along with this sport in their own way. I'm not saying everyone should give them the same leeway I do, but as I've gotten older, I'm less eager to bash them for how they act after a loss.
