I thought I'd leave that question out there by itself. Here we are, four games into the season and I don't know who we are. We have one of the best, if not the best, RB in the league and one of the best, if not the best OL, and we piss around. Did Barkley have a touch in the first quarter against the Saints? No. Two touches against the Bucs. Outgained  2 to 1.

No force of will.

And it appears the defensive effort against the Saints was an outlier. Nothing from our edge players. Two years ago we had 70 sacks. Now crickets.

We dictate nothing.

Who are we?

That's what I was talking about when it came down to the number of touches for Barkley last week.  He got 10 carries.  He's a generational back, the team had no other play makers available, and they allowed the Bucs to dictate that he wouldn't be a factor.   Yet, despite his limited touches he still created a TD drive pretty much alone, along with some great blocking by the OL, and a great pull by Jurgens on the first play of the 2nd half.   AND THEN... he got 1 carry the rest of the way.   Criminal misuse.

That's what I was saying in terms of Grant and Lee.   Grant didn't care that Lee hadn't eaten the lunch of the Generals before him, or that some of them were still dealing with PTSD from those losses, he wanted to dictate the terms of the engagements with Lee moving forward... and he did.   Moore needed to ignore the failures of the past with this team against Bowles and instead of caving to what Bowles would dictate to him, and instead he should have dictated more to Bowles.  He allowed the team to be shackled.   Essentially, he shackled the team himself.

All i know is these are the turnover/fumble numbers for hurts last 13 games:

11 ints and 11 fumbles (14 passing tds)

Wentz last 12:

15 ints and 10 fumbles (16 passing tds)

Let me just say neither are good.

Wentz in 2020 was on pace for 20 ints and 13 fumbles

currently hurts for 2024 is on pace for 17 ints and 21 fumbles

this isn’t OMG Jalen hurts is useless and he sucks. No this is he needs to be better cause he’s going down a road we saw at the end of Carson wentz’s tenure here.

Yup. In 2021, I wasn’t part of the Hurts fan club, but I did give him props for being good with taking care of the ball, Giants road game aside as those games do happen. I don’t like his inconsistent play, and it’s frustrating because he does make good plays at times, so it’s in him to do so, but the turnovers got old a long time ago.

But when it delves into the territory of laughing at CJGJ that's when it gets to be problematic because who knows how CJGJ is going to take that. Maybe in the grand scheme of things it means absolutely nothing. But it isn't that hard for Slay to just not interject himself in that situation. Talk about the game or whatever you want, just don't single out a specific person who had a rough game. It's as easy as that.

Yeah if it becomes an issue with CJGJ and he takes it the wrong way, then I agree that Slay should've just clammed up about it. CJGJ also needs to understand that talking trash all the time can wear thin when his teammates are constantly having to address it after losses too. Wasn't all that long ago when CJGJ pissed off fans with his comments on his livestream or whatever that was. Both him and Slay could do well to tone it down a bit.

A big part of playing defense is attitude.  Guys have to want to be involved and there always needs to be multiple guys getting to the ball and the ball carrier.  That helps with tackling, helps with creating turnovers, and helps getting off the field.  Most of the glaring missed tackles I saw against Tampa was one guy trying to tackle one guy, with no help coming.

These guys on defense need to work harder.  I still believe the Eagles roster is constructed to be a top 5 offense and a mid-tier defense (top 15) in terms of talent and money allocation.  So far, neither group is living up to those rankings.  If there is a talent deficiency on defense, then attitude, work ethic, and gang tackling will fix quite a bit of it.

Kinda tired of the Fangio shtick already tbh. How about you make an adjustment and stop playing your CBs 10 yards off when they're quick passing you all game? Turd.

The fundamentals are poor as well.  Joyner talked about how they practice tackling by diving through a big rolling ring.  Alot of times they are diving and missing (see Maddox and Dean plays this week). Need to stay on their feet, break down and get back to tackling fundamentals

Apparently we need to play better he needs to coach better.

Also just the timing of everything in the 24 hours after the game just magnifies it all. You have Devin White retweeting Hurts sack/fumble. Rodgers being stupid and whiny. Slay reciting his profootballreference page. It's like a snowball rolling downhill and one thing after the next building on top of it. It gives off a "what the hell is going on in that locker room" vibe.

Things going swimmingly.

So Barkley is General Sheridan.

Sirianni lost the locker room last year. That's exactly where the problem starts and ends, if you ask me.

So we have a DC who doesn't speak to the other coaches, and has his own secret analytics that he doesn't share with anyone else, not even his HC or other defensive coaches.

So in turn the team doesn't inform him that a starting player has an illness heading into a game.

Standard. Culture. Accountability. Collaboration. These words are empty and meaningless.

But he talks tough and calls out players in the media. He's old school. He's a real Philly guy!

Culture. Character. Integrity. Leadership. Values. "The Standard."

These are things they've valued for years. They don't have them under Sirianni. Period.

Wouldn’t care if he wore a tutu and ballerina slippers to practice if his defense worked. It’s been figured out. From Miami to now, the only time I’ve seen it work is when he didn’t play it, against New Orleans when he put more players on the line and it wasn’t the bend over until you… defense

The thing is, Parsons and CJGJ have been having a back and forth twitter dispute and trading insults the last week or two. I don't care that Slay is doing a podcast or even talking to Parsons on a podcast. But when it delves into the territory of laughing at CJGJ that's when it gets to be problematic because who knows how CJGJ is going to take that. Maybe in the grand scheme of things it means absolutely nothing. But it isn't that hard for Slay to just not interject himself in that situation. It reminds me of a few years ago when Slay, again, started talking about a specific teammate to the media and throwing him under the bus. (I think it was Josiah Scott but don't remember exactly). Graham said he and the other leaders on D had to pull him aside and explain to him that they don't do that here.

It might and probably isn't THAT big of a deal. But at minimum it's just poor optics.

You're right. It's after a bad loss, and the optics are not good.

It's one thing to chuckle at it and then say something positive about him like "That's just pre-game getting hyped, everyone gets motivated in different ways. He always brings energy and trash talk, I love his swagger" and then follow up with "we didn't play well and lost, we all as a team have to play better." Just leave it at that.

He was laughing his ass off too much. And now we've seen CJGJ's response, you know they're going to have words.

This is also where CEO of Culture Nick Sirianni should step in with all these guys. But we know he won't. He didn't last year, and this is a continuation.
