I am NOT on board with starting Rodgers.   The same moron that doesn't know its not a good idea to push a defender into his punt returner?   Nah.   I'd be happier with 10 on the field for a play than for it to be Rodgers stepping in for Slay.

I think Ringo deserves the start.

He's also a guy that ran directly into his punt returner himself.

Siri won't do these ideas for holding players accountable. First, you know someone would fire back at him about his bad calls on 4th down, his immature antics toward refs and other teams' fans, etc. He doesn't set the example himself. Second, he's a player's coach/cheerleader.

Yes, but he did return a blocked kick for a safety.

Hiring Belichick would be a huge departure from how they have operated.  The closest analogy is probably when they hired Chip Kelly.  My guess is the way they would consider it is if Kellen Moore stays as the OC.  The problems with Ben Johnson are going to be timing and that he's every team's top choice.  He's going to be interviewing for the early vacancies. Aside from Chip Kelly, the Eagles have not been super quick in their HC hires.  He also would be going to a team where the expectations will be very high right from the start.  I don't think those high expectations would faze Belichick.

The problem with the Giants is going to be QB.  Is Belichick going to think he can win with a rookie QB.  If his only concern is setting the NFL record for wins and solidifying his HOF candidacy, do the Giants give him the best shot over the next 3 seasons.  He's 72.  I doubt he plans on coaching for 5 more years.

I’ve said I don’t think the Eagles would go after belichick as their top guy. I think Jeffrey lurie wants an innovative offensive minded coach. That is been his whole thing since hiring Andy Reid. Frankly, I think Ben Johnson wouldn’t come here unless he loves hurts and believes he can maximize him. I also think the eagles after chip and after doug were in worse positions talent wise then they’d be at this stage in a coach searching. They’ve been slow but really I’m not sure the biggest coaching names out there in the 2016 and 2020 wanted to come here so going fast to hire them didn’t really matter.

We’re assuming they’re just gonna draft the quarterback. They could trade for one if a Qb becomes available. They could also go down the road of draft and develop. I think he has a lot of admiration for the giants. I’m not sure he’s fully in on hurts either. And if he’s not he eagles aren’t in a better position to get a Qb he wants as the giants are going to have a top pick can go multiple directions

Imo whoever the eagles hire if sirianni is fired has to believe in hurts cause he’s here through 2025 and likely we aren’t in a great position to get the guy to replace him. Probably taking a chance on a mid/late 1st or mid round Qb or trying to sell the farm to get that Qb via trade which might not be enough and severely hurt your roster

lmao just saw Antonio Pierce liked an IG post that speculated Adams could be traded.

If something like that happened here with Sirianni it would be defcon 1 in this city.

I'd also think about Vrabel. We have the talent. We need someone to hold these guys accountable.

I'm not opposed to a defensive coach at this point.  Fangio system seems obsolete, and we have defensive talent to be utilized.

I also think Moore may be a good enough offensive minds to ruin that side of things by himself.  And maybe that level of autonomy as an OC for a defensive HC might be enough power to keep him around rather that searching for a HC job himself.

I am on board with that.

I've been wondering if the Eagles will have interest in Garrett Nussmeier as a later round 1 QB prospect.

Doug, our current QB coach is his dad.

Seems like a philly sports thing to do.

Probably a bit too esoteric for JR, but still a solid reference.

The tape "gurus" today(Fran Duffy and some Twitter guys) have started talking about the tape and Duffy was not impressed by the Eagles offensive scheme on Sunday. Said a lot of the interesting concepts they used week 1 disappeared and they cut motion down significantly.

Also: Duffy said Fred Johnson gave up 9 pressures to 6 different players Sunday and Hurts only had 30 drop backs. Basically gave up a pressure on 30% of snaps.

His breakdown of blame out of 100 after reviewing the tape was 45% game plan, 30% Hurts, 25% rest of players.

I think the defense badly misses Dennard Wilson. It's looking more and more like he was the main catalyst behind the 2022 defense. The secondary hasn't been the same since he left, and he did great things in Baltimore and has the Titans defense playing sound for the talent they have.

A big part of the cohesion on the back end for sure, but even the DL hasn't looked the same as it was in 2022.

But if I were Howie, I do whatever it takes to get Ben Johnson as HC, and then make a nice offer to Dennard Wilson to be DC if he is looking for another option outside of Tennessee.

That could be a function of having WRs that missed camp or were on the PS.

Without a doubt.

I'm not overly concerned with the offense, aside from Hurts' ball security. Going into a game with no AJ, no Devonta and no Lane, and against a team that has given us fits historically - I didn't expect to score more than 20 points.

The defense, on the other hand, was a debacle.

"Whatever it takes" would include him bring his own coaching staff.  I don't think any worthwhile head coaching candidate will accept coordinators being picked who he's not familiar with.

Hurts still did manage a couple nice drives that included throws to Campbell and Dotson, some run plays with Barkley and some nice plays to Goedert. Why can't they do that all game? Campbell had 4 catches, Dotson 2 catches. Even Calcaterra, Ross and Stoll had a catch.

I do think a big part of it is Hurts only throws to guys he is comfortable with. He will let it rip and trust AJ, DeVonta and Goedert. He clearly doesn't have that chemistry with Dotson or Campbell. He needs to get over it.

The game was over by the second quarter when Tampa went up 24-0. Defenses tend to lighten up when they get a big lead. It’s the classic Dak scenario where he ends up throwing for 350-400 yards but it’s essentially garbage time and he makes the game closer than it was because they were down 3 scores early.

That's a fair point, he probably would want to pick his own staff even on the defensive side of the ball. Still worth it, imo.

It's understandable to not have the same level of rapport and trust, but also "next man up" mentality. You know for a couple weeks those receivers are out, so you game plan. You're right, get over it and work with who is there. And he has - for limited drives.

I would love to be a fly on the wall in offensive meetings during the bye week.
