I don't understand why fans want him

Fans would like to see a competent defense again at the very least.

I'd be fine with him as long as he stays away from drafting players.

Cowboys already said they couldn’t afford Derrick Henry. I would doubt they splurge now.

Mainly because there is a desperation to have someone here that can bring the defense back to respectability. I don't agree, but I get it.

I want DDs.

Dominating Defenses.

This one is also sexual.

I hope no play Slay gets dealt at the deadline. Dude is trash. He's been trash for a couple years

Interested in winning. They have plenty of talent in this team, little discipline, accountability or preparation. If he coaches the team I’m for it, he doesn’t get GM duties with it.

I understand the criticism of Hurts and the play calling but the Eagles are not winning the line of scrimmage.  The players need to execute and win their battles.  As the saying goes, it isn't about the X's and the O's but the Larry's and the Joe's.  That being said, the coaches need to put them in the best position to make plays.

Fred Johnson had a good game in relief of Lane but did not play well in Tampa.  Pressure was coming quick from the edge.  Becton also allowed some inside pressure on a couple of plays.  I still think the strength of this OL is in the run game using their size and power to beat the opposing team into submission.  With Lane Jonson back, they should be better in pass pro but they should dedicate to the run.

The D line is a whole different deal.  They don't have a game changer at DE to wreck the game plan of the opposition.  Carter has that ability at DT but will be frequently doubled.  If Fangio would try to take away the short passes, obviously that would give them more time to get to the QB.  He also needs to mix in the blitz.  Baun is an effective blitzer.  Dean hasn't gotten done in any way.  Give White or Trotter Jr a chance there.

They’re doing fine at the LOS.

Kind of wonder if he didn't get used to having elite talent around him in college.

Bama and Oklahoma usually have great players.

Also helps (doesn't help) that the big 12 is known for their...

.........Interesting, we'll say.

Defensive performances. Lol.

Too rich for Jerry, for anyone really. Those last two years of his contract are insane.

WTF is a Tommy John ligament?

I thought I'd leave that question out there by itself. Here we are, four games into the season and I don't know who we are. We have one of the best, if not the best, RB in the league and one of the best, if not the best OL, and we piss around. Did Barkley have a touch in the first quarter against the Saints? No. Two touches against the Bucs. Outgained  2 to 1.

No force of will.

And it appears the defensive effort against the Saints was an outlier. Nothing from our edge players. Two years ago we had 70 sacks. Now crickets.

We dictate nothing.

Who are we?

Hurts completes a simple pass on the first snap, Barkley dominance asserted and who knows…

At some point we can’t think it’s a good idea to continue to coddle our 50m/yr QB and run Barkley into the ground this season when wild card is probably the ceiling.

Any hope for the DL was a wish and a prayer. They truly make the back end look worse than they are.

The fan seems to be upset that Slay decided to go on Parsons' podcast after a bad loss and after Parsons bashed CJGJ the week prior. He's also upset that Slay agreed with Parsons that CJGJ talks a lot of trash, which is true, but Slay in general defended CJGJ in that clip so I think this fan is just bitter about the loss more than anything Slay actually said. Yes, it might seem strange to us that Slay is laughing and hamming it up with a rival player after a bad loss, but we should be careful to read too far into that or extrapolate that to the rest of the team as a whole. Players don't just dive into a week-long manic depressive state like some of us do (I used to at least) because if they did, they'd never make it past one season in the NFL.

CB’s also need to forget every play that just happened and be ready for the next.  Good or bad.  However, Slay’s problem is that he rests on his accolades.

he’s gonna be on a innings count when he returns

IMO, the biggest problem with the 2024 Eagles is the wildly warped offseason expectations of the fanbase, the local media, and the national media.

The 2023 Eagles finished the season 1-6 and were playing as poorly as any team in the NFL.  In the offseason, they lost their best defensive player (Reddick), lost their most reliable down lineman (Cox, yes he was), lost a HOF center who did much of the pre-snap mental gymnastics for Hurts, and slapped another year of age on Lane, who they are famously dependent upon.  And they had a draft that was well received.

All that...and somehow everyone thought this team was supposed to be a high end SB contender?  What the heck?  .500 with wins over a couple decent teams sounds like we are, at worst, around where the expectations should have been.

This isn't a very good team and really wasn't supposed to be.  There shouldn't be reason to be angry about it at 2-2.

Then you go get Vrabel. Billy B is gonna want say in the front office. Jags can give that to him, where Howie ain't going to the basement again

He might need to though…outside of a few accidents, he can’t draft or evaluate talent.  He makes very good market reads on contracts ( a few anomalies aside).

Siri won't do these ideas for holding players accountable. First, you know someone would fire back at him about his bad calls on 4th down, his immature antics toward refs and other teams' fans, etc. He doesn't set the example himself. Second, he's a player's coach/cheerleader.

I spent almost 21 years in the military…I’ll toot the f out of my own horn, I was a fantastic leader of men.  You don’t learn to be a leader in books, or over time for the most part.  it’s completely by nature.  The thing with Siri, is him and I share some similar ways of doing things.  He wants a fun and loose environment when the time calls…but it’s blatantly clear that behind closed doors he does absolutely nothing for accountability.  He’s not the guy that has that ‘look’ where everyone knows to shape up or stop when they see it.  When he’s fired up or pissed, nobody cares.  Nobody gets in line.  He’s their friend…not their boss who they enjoy working for.  Calling him a players coach is a disservice IMO.  He’s a guy who’s trying to make everyone like him. There is no barrier on time and place for this team.

I am a huge fan of emotional intelligence, empathizing and setting standards.  He can’t do the setting standards thing.

I know it's all the rage to crap all over Nick and say everything is his fault, and maybe it is all him. However, allow me to pose this question to you all...

Is Jalen Hurts uncoachable?

I keep thinking about the game last season, can't remember who it was against, that ended in a Hurts INT. Of course Sirianni fell on the sword and took blame but we later found out it was Hurts and AJ improvising. How often does he think "F that we're doing what I want?"

Yes, but he did return a blocked kick for a safety.

IIRC Rodger’s had the block?

Eagles could conceivably get a 2nd rounder for Reddick.
