To be fair, Hurts is the king of benefiting from the "Total TDs" stat.

All of the running QBs are but yes Hurts the most because of the tush push at the goal line

If we separate passing from rushing TDs for QBs then there are other stats that need to be split out. Like passing yards before catch vs after catch. Toss a screen, the guy runs 50 yards and that counts as 50 yards "passing" for a QB when he threw it a few yards to the RB. If the defense scores points, the total points should be split between what the offense scored vs the defense scored on a pick 6 or fumble recover return.

Or, we could view it as a team sport where scoring more points than the other team matters more than how you score the points. 

Just kidding, I get it, total TDs are a skewed number and people use it to downplay lack of passing TDs. But that's what you get with a dual threat QB.

I don't mind using the total TDs stat as a metric to show a quarterback's impact on the game. But I think everyone knows using Hurts's is a little misleading. Sure, the push play is basically a guarantee and they should continue to use it. But there should be a disclaimer on his total TDs stats to show how many came from the one yard line with him basically being used as a battering ram. I don't look at Hurts's 15 rushing TDs last year, 90% of which probably came from the push, and think that makes him a better QB.

Yeah, I'm inclined to give the QB full credit for any TD run from the 3-yard line and out, but I take the Nelson Muntz attitude towards 1 and 2-yard TD rushes.

They could split the receiving yards into when they're running before the catch and then change it to rushing yards after the catch 🤷‍♂️
